Whilst I wear make up every single day as a rule I have never really been swayed by primers and such like. When I was going to Essex for my birthday night out I wanted to make sure that I did all I could to make my make up last well and so a few weeks before I went I purchased the Rimmel London fix and perfect pro primer as it was on a three for two promotion and I needed to buy a couple of other things. This is my review of the product.

The Rimmel fix and perfect pro primer comes in a white tube which stands on a blue screw top lid. The packaging looks simple but I think it is an attractive design as the white and blue compliment each other well and it doesn't look too fussy. The tube contains 30ml of the primer and you have eighteen months to use it but to be honest the tube isn't really big enough for there to be eighteen months worth of primer in there, certainly not for me anyway. On the front of the tube we have the Rimmel London name, as well as the product name and we are told that the product is a five in one primer which:

-smoothes
-resurfaces
-brightens
-mattifies
-protects

We are also told that it will prolong foundation wear which was the main reason that I wanted a primer but the claims the packaging made were enough to make me think that this product may help create a more flawless looking make up.

You should apply the primer to a clean face and as I cleanse my face in the morning before applying my make up this was not an issue for me. To use the product you need to unscrew the lid and squeeze a small amount of the primer on to your finger. You don't need much at all of this white cream for your face and so I would advise that you just squeeze a small amount out each time rather than have any wastage or too much of the product on your face. The primer has quite a thick consistency on the hand but rubs in well to the face and doesn't feel heavy at all on my face. It also has a really pleasant but subtle fragrance in my opinion.

When the primer is on my face it makes the skin on my face feel very soft and smooth and I always wait a minute or two for it to settle on to my skin before applying my make up. What is nice is with this primer on my face I actually need much less of my liquid foundation to cover my face nicely and so I am saving on buying foundation! Once I apply my entire make up with this primer underneath I do think that my face looks much more flawless and refreshed some what as well. I have been really impressed with the product to be honest and whilst I initially thought it would be something that I would only use until the tube ran out I am now certain that I will be soon replacing the tube as it is almost empty now after a couple of months of use a few times a week.

The primer does make my make up last longer throughout the day too which is a good thing for me when I go to work as I apply my make up around 7am and don't finish work until after 10pm and so I do need it to last as well as I can throughout the day. I seem to look less tired too when I have used this primer under my foundation and this is a massive thing for me as I seem to be constantly tired at the moment!

The primer costs £6.99 from Boots and I have to say that I think it is worth this and more considering that my make up stays looking fresher for much longer, I need less foundation when I am using it and it just seems to make my face look better in general. Whilst I have nothing to compare this primer too I do think that it is an excellent offering and certainly a product I will continue to buy I feel. My only qualm is it would be nicer if the tube was bigger but I suppose a little does go a long way with this one.
