I have tried everything in Rimmels match perfection range and I can say that this is one of the better ones along with their foundation.
The powder comes in a blue pot with a see through lid which simply snaps into place to protect it. Lifting the lid reveals the powder, and continuing to push it back reveals a sponge applicator which is an added bonus. I do not use the applicator as I prefer to use a big powder makeup brush. I have tried the applicator and it still gives a good results. My makeup brush just makes the whole process quicker.
I use this on top of the Rimmel match perfection foundation. The foundation is quite greasy and needs a powder to prevent shine and to keep it in place and this really does do the job. Even though I picked the palest one, it does look slightly darker than the foundation. However the coverage is great and it leaves a flawless finish. It isn't powdery on the skin. As the name suggests it is more creamy in texture and so makes the face appear smooth. I sometimes wear this on its own when i'm in a hurry which is great as well. However it can get patchy without the foundation underneath.
The two combined is a perfect combination. It covers up my imperfections well, giving a medium-heavy coverage combined. On its own it is quite light.
The powder itself is light and it doesn't feel like you have caked your face in makeup. At £5.99 this is a brilliant price and I have been using it most days for 6 months now and I can just start to see the bottom of the pan.
As for the product lasting, I think it does last well with the foundation underneath and I don't personally have the time to reapply makeup throughout the day. However if I had time I would probably reapply to my T-zone area as this gets particularly oily for me.
Overall, I am very pleased with this product. As a person with fair skin it is diffucult to get products that suit and I feel that this has matched me well. It gives me a healthy glow and doesn't look too pale or orangy against my skin. I will definitely be repurchasing and I do recommend you try it.
I wear make up virtually every day and so I can go through some products quite quickly and when I run out of something my first point of call is usually Boots as they often have three for the price of two offers and such like plus I have an advantage card and like to get my points! I use Rimmel match perfection liquid foundation and so when I ran out and went to Boots to replace it I decided to also purchase the Rimmel match perfection ultra creamy compact powder as it was included in the three for two offer. The 8.5g compact sells for £5.99 which granted isn't the cheapest powder on the market but I do think it is worth it.
The powder comes in a round plastic pot with a blue base and blue lettering on the clear plastic lid and so it fits in well with the match perfection range as a while. I like the clear plastic top because you can instantly see the colour of the powder and judge if it would be suitable for your skin tone. The plastic lid lifts up quite easily to access the powder and if you push the lid even further back you can flip the powder over to reveal a mirror and sponge applicator in the base. I find the mirror very handy indeed if I am out and about and need to quickly check my appearance.
Rimmel say the ultra creamy and lightweight powder is super blendable for a natural looking finish and that it will last for up to fourteen hours and has a smart-tone technology which will mimic skins texture and tone. Sounds pretty good doesn't it? We all know that companies can make big claims to sell their product and then we realise they don't always live up to them and so I was wondering how this one would perform for me!
I do wear Rimmel match perfection liquid foundation as I said earlier and so I use this powder over the top of that to set my foundation and to reduce any shine that I may have. Although the sponge applicator is perfectly adequate I do prefer to apply my powder using a big brush as I find I need less of the product to cover my face this way and it gives me good results. The powder is indeed creamy yet it feels incredibly lightweight on my skin which is a must for me because despite the fact that I do my full make up most days I do not want to feel as though I am caked in the stuff! The product blends nicely in to my skin and so takes away any shine that may be present from the liquid foundation and basically leaves me with a flawless looking finish which is obviously something that pleases me. I have suffered no reaction at all from using this powder on my skin and it doesn't make my skin feel clogged or anything at all. My sister has also used this powder on nights out when I have it with me and she has found the same applies.
I have had this powder for around eight months and whilst the powder only really remains around the edges of the tub there is still use in the product and it has served me well. The product comes in five shades starting at ivory and finishing at soft beige. I use true ivory and this seems to suit my skin tone nicely. I am certainly going to be replacing this product when it does finally run out and to be fair £5.99 for eight or nine months regular use is a very fair price to pay!
