Advantages: Dries fast, exceptional brush for easy application
Disadvantages: None
After three painstaking months of trying to grow my nails after many years of neglect, I finally have nails worthy of coating with coloured polish. This has led me back into the areas of nail polishes and I was somewhat overwhelmed by the enormous varieties available.
On my first trip I purchased three different colours made by different brands. One of the three was from the Rimmel 60 seconds range in a nice mid range pink.
I briefly read some of the other reviews on this polish and must admit I think I'm reading about a different product completely. Still, the last review was written in 2007 and I can only think that Rimmel have made some significant improvements to their formula.
The 60 seconds range offers 26 different shades, each costing something in the region of £4.50. I generally purchase my polishes from Boots but they're widely available in pharmacies, supermarkets and drugstores.
~~~The 60 Seconds Promise~~~
The reason I first bought the Rimmel 60 seconds polish was because I liked the idea of nail polish drying so quickly. I'm constantly on the move and certainly don't have time to sit around, avoiding touching anything for hours while my nails dry. So this was an important factor for me. Also of importance is the ease of applying the polish. All too often the brushes are hopeless and I end up with more polish on the surrounding skin than on my nails.
So, was I happy with my choice? The answer is a resounding yes. Firstly, I can solidly confirm that the first coat of polish does dry completely within 60 seconds. I can slide my fingers over my nails and cannot feel any of that tackiness that so often leaves marks and indentations on undried polish. This polish is smooth and dry.
The instructions do say that one coat will dry in 60 seconds and it does. However, I always apply more than one coat to obtain a more solid colour as well as providing a bit more protection for my nails. The second coat does take slightly longer to dry, between 2-3 minutes until it loses the stickiness.
~~~Application and Brush~~~
I am also extremely happy with the application brush. I hadn't actually noticed until much later that there is a sticker on the brush handle declaring that the brush is a new pro-cision brush. Well, whatever that means exactly, I'm not too sure. What I can say from my experiences is that this brush is the best I've ever used. The handle is quite long as are the brush bristles.
It's easy to wipe off enough polish from one side of the brush as the polish is not too runny but just leaves enough for one coat per nail. What makes it so easy to apply is that the brush is quite wide so with each stroke you can cover at least half the nail. Additionally, I only end up with very small amounts of polish on the surrounding skin, or none at all, rather than looking as if I've dipped my entire fingers in the polish.
~~~Staying Power~~~
I generally find this polish lasts around 2-3 days before the odd chip appears on my fingertips. However, I always use a top coat to try and preserve my polish so it maybe a different result if you're just using the polish on its own.
~~~Verdict~~~
As far as I'm concerned, I'm sticking with this brand. There are a lovely range of colours, the polish is easy to apply and it really does dry much faster than regular nail polish.
Summary: Great, fast drying nail polish for people on the move
