Rimmel Precious Stones
Advantages: Once I got the hang of it it did look nice
Disadvantages: hard to apply, chips, doesn't last and sets solid after a few months of use
As you can probably tell from my other reviews I love nail polish and nail art so when I saw this in nail polish in Asda I couldn't wait to try it. I love the idea of full coverage glitter and the fact it looked more edgy then a regular glitter polish because it promised full glitter coverage with different sized particles for full coverage. I then had to decide which colour to go for as although this range only comes in two shades - ruby crush and diamond dust. As I already had a large number of red shades I went for diamond dust.
This nail polish comes in a standard size nail polish with a standard size brush but because of the nature of the polish I think I would have preferred a slightly thicker brush. However, you can cover your nail in about three strokes which isn't bad.
According to the Rimmel website "This is not your every day top coat! This is high coverage glitter nail polish! Supercharged with sparkles, turn your nails in to dazzling gems. All the gems you'll need for the party season and beyond, and right at your finger tips!"
But what's like in real life well the first thing I noticed was that it was quite thick and gloopy but that was the glitter effect. When applied it for the first time I found it quite hard to get a nice even coat because of the glitter so it did look a little bit strange but after the second attempt I got the hang of it but it was still hard to get a nice finish so it is not a quick thing to do. When I removed the nail polish and tried again I did only need one coat which was nice. It did look quite nice on with lots of sparkle but it was a little duller then I expected but overall I liked the look. However, it didn't last very long as it chipped quite easily and quickly after about a day.
But the most annoying thing about the polish is how quickly it dries out. I haven't used it for a few months but it now completely unusable as it has hardened so much it can't even be loosened down with nail polish. In fact when I tried to open it the brush itself broke in the polish so I now can't use it at all in fact the polish is rock solid so a complete waste
At £3.99 this isn't a particularly cheap polish and while it isn't expensive as some because I got so little use out of it it was very poor value for money. Overall I can't recommend it.
Summary: Just too thick and gloopy for my liking
