This powder is priced at £3.99, which personally I find very reasonable. I also find that it is often included in offers along with the Rimmel brand such as that of 3 for 2 (which is currently on in Boots) or when you spend a certain amount on the brand you may receive the powder for free.
As with most cosmetics in the Uk, this powder is available in both Superdrug and Boots, along with their online stores. Rimmel products have now also become available in many larger supermarkets, such as that as Asda and Sainsburys.
Although there were not too many colour shades to choose from, I still found it to be a fairly good range of shades for a high street powder; there is also a transparent colour which is usual if there is not a good/ exact colour match available for you. Although I am fairly pale, I did find most of the shades available to be very pale and actually had to end up picking one of the darker shades, which could cause a problem if you have darker toned skin as there is not really much option.
This powder claims to give you a flawless matte finish that will conceal imperfections, yet still feeling lightweight on the skin. This powder also claims that it will not clog pores due to the fact it is oil and paraben free.
As with all my powders, I decided upon a brush to apply this. Unlike some other powders I have used this powder did not come with any sort of application device, so in order to use this powder you would need either a brush or a beauty sponge. This powder is very fine and so when applying it to my skin it did feel lightweight, yet I found there was very high pigmentation so only need to use a small amount for good coverage. What I really liked when applying this powder is that it was very easy to blend with my foundation and therefore did not create that powdery look as if it was just sitting on top of my foundation.
Because this powder is so lightweight and blends easily it meant that there was no brush strokes left in the surface, helping to create a more flawless finish. I have also applied this powder with a beauty sponge on numerous occasions and found the powder to feel just as lightweight when doing it this way, although found that sometimes it did need a little more blending as although the powder is extremely lightweight I felt that it looked a little heavy when applying it this way.
I was very pleased with the results of this powder. It left my skin with a very matte, yet not at all powdery or cakey, flawless finish. I loved the texture if this powder as it felt extremely comfortable to wear on the skin and due to it being lightweight it didn't actually feel like I was wearing it. This powder, despite the fact it is fine, has very high coverage, meaning that if there were any I'm imperfections or redness on my skin that I could not cover with foundation alone, using this powder in conjunction really helped to create a really flawless base.
As for 'staying matte' I believe this powder does this very well. It claims to give natural shine control for up to 5 hours, though I feel that my skin is free from shine longer than this and infact very rarely do I feel the need to reapply this powder, except perhaps on a night out. What I really enjoyed with this powder is that although it kept shine from my face, it was done so in a natural way and therefore the finish of this powder looked neither cakey or powdery and infact blended in very well with both my foundation and skin. I find that this powder also sets both my concealer and foundation to keep this in place all day and find that my foundation lasts far longer when used with this powder than when worn alone; which means I have to reapply my makeup much less or sometimes even not at all.
I definitely believe this powder lives up to its claims in both being lightweight and very mattifying. It also claims that it will not clog pores and helps minimise the appearance of them; since wearing this powder I have had not any problems with it reacting with my skin or causing any breakouts so I agree that it does not clog pores. I am not sure whether it necessarily helps minimise the appearance of pores, it definitely helps to conceal them when wearing the powder, but I am not too sure whether I would go as far as saying that it minimises the appearance of pores.
Overall I have been thoroughly impressed with this powder and have actually repurchased it, which is something I very rarely do with powder! My previous stay matte Rimmel powder lasted me about 3 or 4 months with daily usage, so I do believe this to be good value for money, especially considering it is often on offer. The only slight downside to this powder that I have found if the packaging, being that it is fairly flimsy plastic with a quite loose screw top lid I have found it to crack very easily if dropped (though as of yet the powder itself has never cracked) and also have found the lid has come off in my bag. Nonetheless I can put up with this due to the fact I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality of this product.
I would definitely recommend this powder if you are look to a achieve matte, yet natural looking skin and to keep shine away all day. I am going to award this powder 5 stars as I am impressed with just about everything about this powder, although wish the packaging was a little sturdier, although at £3.99 I can hardly complain!
