Advantages: cheap, long lasting, natural looking,

Disadvantages: Can take time to learn how to create a natural effect

I find this product completely indispensable. Most people seem to overlook the importance of eyebrows on the appearance of their face; I admit that I did for a number of years. However eyebrows do actually have great importance.

The more symmetrical a face the more beautiful it is, and all to often it is evil eyebrows that destroy this symmetry as they grow wildly. Well shaped eyebrows improve symmetry and highlight the eyes giving you an understated change of face. Plucking is vital for this, however most women know how easy it is to over pluck leaving eyebrow scars. This is how I find the eyebrow most useful, as a means of repair. But this is not all the pencil is capable of.

I have very sparse eyebrows due to each hair being very fine. The pencil can be used to fill in the gaps, creating stronger brows and would be greatly appreciated by ageing women whose hair is beginning to thin as it creates a more youthful effect.

It can also be used to even out miss-matched brows. One of my brows is more arched than the other and I use the pencil to fill the arch In to give better symmetry.

My favourite shade of the four available is hazel. The others: blonde, dark brown and black are I think in most cases to be avoided. The blonde pencil lightens the brows to too much of an extent and should only be used with those of the palest colouring to give a natural effect. The dark brown and black are both too overwhelming on most people, unless eyebrows are naturally very dark, in which case dark brown should be used. However hazel gives colour, whilst remaining understated and natural looking.

The pencil is very soft which helps prevent the colour becoming too intense, however if a proper technique of application is not used the colour can becoming too dark. Light, short strokes in a feathery motion should be used, as opposed to just colouring the brows in, so that the pencil looks like individual hairs. This gives a natural, matte effect similar to that of eyebrow powder without the mess.

However the fact it is a pencil and therefore contains oil does reduce its staying power somewhat, especially is summer where it can be sweated off. Nevertheless it will last several hours and does not need to be reapplied fully, needing merely needing a quick touch up.

The lid of the pencil has an attached brush. This is useful for sweeping the hairs in the desired direction, taming them and removing excess product and gives a dazzling finishing touch.

I’ve found that the pencil is great value for money at only £2.99 at Boots. It lasts me about nine months and this is with twice week sharpening, which is vital as a blunt pencil will look unnatural. Therefore it is a cheap and completely wise investment for all beauty conscious women.

Summary: The quickest and easiest way to redefine your face.

Great review! I have a body shop powder one that I like but this sounds worth a try when that runs out :-)
