Advantages: The brush is thin and gives you a clean line, great value for money
Disadvantages: It's not waterproof :(
This liquid eyeliner is most definitely one of the best on the market today. Nearly everyone I know who uses a liquid liner uses this, including me for many years, you really can't go wrong with this.
Being Rimmel it doesn't break the bank - in fact in Boots and Superdrug you can pick this up for a mere £4.29 - yes this may seem like a lot but it's liquid, not a pencil, and to be honest one of these usually lasts me 2 months (even if there's some left after 2 months I like to use a fresh one so it hasn't dried up at all). If you don't use it every day you will get even longer than 2 months out of it.
Looks wise the bottle it comes in is small and compact and not too flashy. The lid screws off and you will find a thin, longish brush which is perfect for giving you a nice thin line of eyeliner along your eye line. It's even good for giving you a thicker line and very easy to do those 'flicks' just outside your eye if you like! This eyeliner comes in black and brown - I use the black one and I would guess this is the more popular one (they used to do silver but it appears they don't anymore).
To use you should unscrew the lid and gently remove the wand with the brush on. Make sure you don't get too much product on the brush - this bottle is actually quite good at reducing over spillage on the brush I have to say - it usually comes out with a nice amount on and you just have to brush a small amount of excess aside. The texture of the liquid itself is good - it dries quickly on your eyes (a couple of minutes) which is always good if you're literally going to put it on and run out of the door. No one wants makeup running down their face in the wind! I tend to do my actual face first, then my eye shadow and eye brow pencil and then put the eyeliner on. You can of course put this on first and eye shadow over the top, but once eyeshadow is over the top the black or brown liner isn't going to look as prominent or half as good to be honest.
You need to drag the brush quickly and steadily along the lashes of your eye one side to the other. It does take a bit of practice and you do need a steady hand - so rushing it won't do you any favours! I have gotten quite good at this now, and if I want a thicker line I will press harder with a bit more liquid on the brush and if I want a thin clean line I will limit the amount of liquid on the brush and press very gently. Practice makes perfect with this!
Unlike a lot of liquid liners, the brush on this Rimmel one is so thin it makes making mistakes more difficult which is great. I find I get a nice clean line with this that I just don't get with any other liquid liner. With a bit pf practice your makeup will look chiselled and professional. I line the tops and underneaths of my eyes but its completely up to you what you do. Lining the underneath is more difficult because your eyelashes get in the way a bit. I would suggest doing the best you can and then using cosmetic buds moistened with a bit of water or eye make up remover to wipe away any mistakes then touch up with a bit of powder or concealer. Cosmetic buds are like cotton buds except they have a pointy end and a flattened end - great for applying and touching up makeup - you can get them from Boots or Superdrug.
I find with this liner that whilst it's not waterproof unfortunately (I haven't yet found a waterproof one that has as good a brush as this one has) generally speaking it stays on all day and all night if I like with no flaking or fading. It still looks as dark as when I first applied it and to be honest it's the park of my makeup that takes the longest so its something I don't want to have to reapply throughout the day! The product also comes off well with a basic eye makeup remover. No complaints there.
All in all I can't recommend this liner enough. The brush is great, very thin and easy to use. The pot it comes in is small and thin and easy to hold in your hand and glide when applying. It stays on all day (unless you end up crying!) and is very cheap. Such a bargain! I have been using this for years and I wouldn't change - god help me if Rimmel ever stop making this!
Summary: Brilliant liquid liner - great brush, cheap, and stays on all day what more could you ask for!?
