Advantages: good coverage
Disadvantages: a little gritty
Rimmel is such a well established brand but I had never used their foundations until I saw an advert for this one. I have quite rosy cheeks and terrible dark circles under my eyes and most foundations don't give me the coverage I need. However solid foundation leave my skin looking flaky and dry.
What attracted me to this product is that it is designed for days when your skin needs a bit of extra help: it has light reflecting particles which are supposed to make the skin look brighter. Since I always need a bit of extra help I thought I'd try it.
Application
This foundation goes on quite smoothly although there is a slightly gritty feel sometimes due to the fine glittery particles, it's not uncomfortable though. A little goes a long way and a bottle of this stuff lasts me ages. The coverage I get is great, no other foundation comes close to covering my rosy cheeks without looking like I've used sandpaper beforehand!! The finish is not overtly glittery but there is a lovely sheen to your skin rather than a flat base look. I use this in the daytime with loose powder and don't look as if I'm off into town! The light reflecting particles really help make you look more awake and work wonders on my dark circles (I put this under my eyes before my concealer and it makes all the difference)
Colour
Make sure you try all the testers in the shop before you buy this foundation as the colours are darker than you'd expect given the shade names-I am currently using Porcelain which in most cosmetic ranges would be a very pale shade but is actually a light beige. I use shade 201 when I've got a bit of a tan. I find I get the best results when I use a makeup primer between my moisturiser and this product-Ruby and Millie's goes well.
Packaging
This is very neat packaging and the bottle is easy to grip. it's very easy to get the foundation out and the lid is very secure. Unlike the rest of Rimmel's base products, the packaging for the Recover range really stands out on their shelves due to the bright pink lids. There is a matching concealer which I must try and there's also a pre-base.
Currently priced at around £6 I think this is very reasonable due to the product being unique and very good quality.
Summary: Perfect after a heavy night ;)
