Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara
Advantages: No clumping
Disadvantages: No volume, length or lift as promised
Mascara is the one piece of make up I would never even contemplate leaving the house without wearing, so it is fair to say I go through quite a lot of the stuff. Its not very often that I buy the same mascara each time as I like to mix things up and try different products and styles, if I ever found that perfect mascara I am sure I would stick with it, but alas the search is still on.
My latest buy has been Rimmels Scandal eyes - Show off mascara which I picked up in Superdrug for £6.99. I have bought Rimmel products before and have always been pleased with their make up range. When I saw this mascara in the shops I was instantly drawn to it due to its bright pink chunky tube, it looked very girlie and fun. The 12ml tube gives the usual information including the brand and product name all in bold black writing which really stands out. There is also a picture of the unique "ball" brush proudly displayed on the front, which I guess is its biggest selling point. The lid is simply screwed off to reveal the brush which looks much like any regular brush except that it is thicker and has a "ball" shape at the end.
I must say I did not exactly take to the "ball" brush and found it too large, this made it difficult to apply the mascara to the lower lashes and on occasion it ended up making a bit of a mess, especially on those mornings when I was running a bit late. I did find that the mascara coated the lashes well and I never experienced any clumping, however there was no "plumping" or "lifting" as promised and I never felt that any extra lift or volume was added whilst using this product. Whilst using this Mascara I found that I still needed to use my trusty eye lash curlers to achieve the look I desired. This mascara does not claim to be waterproof but I did get caught in one or two down pours whilst wearing it and never experienced any running, although from time to time my lower lashes did smudge slightly.
"Scandal Eyes" suggests that this mascara will give a dramatic shocking look and it promised add volume, length and lift, none of which it lived up to. I found it to be a rather average mascara, so I guess my search for the perfect mascara continues.
