I bought this from Boots last week as I am a bit of a makeup addict... as you can probably tell from the amount of makeup reviews I write!... and I have a special weakness for mascaras.

I had seen the advert for this product on TV and I have to say it did look pretty cool and when I saw it on the shelf it definitely stood out- I bought the waterproof version so it is the same packaging as the picture but it is metallic blue rather than the purple shown. The mascara has a very nice ergonomic feel to it and the presentation definitely sold it to me before I had considered the price. It turned out to be a strange price of £7.82.. I presume this is a result of the old VAT changes? This was a little more than the other Rimmel mascaras that were on the shelf but decided to go with it anyway.

The application of this product is pretty good but could still be improved- I do agree with the other users who have reviewed this product when they say that the mascara wand is a little 'gimmicky' as the curves on the brush make it a little more difficult than necessary to apply. But the silicon spikes seems to spread the black substance on the lashes fairly evenly anyway and my lashes don't get clumped and look long and thick- exactly what you want from a mascara.

I am glad I got the waterproof version of the mascara as I do, for some weird reason, get watery eyes a lot- especially in the cold windy winter months and occasionally when I manage to poke myself in the eye with a sharp object (previously including cutley, pens, hairbrushes and fingers...) and I am also quite a softie for crying at cute movies (or even charity adverts...) The mascara is really quite good at staying on when wet- I walked home for a mile in a nasty rain shower only yesterday and when I got home I half-expected to see a panda eyed self looking back at me but instead my mascara was still there perfectly!

The only downside that comes with having a mascara that is so damn waterproof is that it can be tricky to remove afterwards! Even when I have my best eye make up remover (Virgin Vie which I will inevitably review sometime in the near future...) on a cotton wool pad and I am rubbing quite hard on my eyelashes- it still is quite hard to budge and I sometimes end up actually pulling eyelashes out which is painful and not desirable...

All in all, I think it is a pretty good product and I would recommend it to a friend it but could do with some improvements like being easier to remove with eye make up remover products and having a less gimmicky wand that actually does the job!
