Before I start my review I'll point out that this line is marketed as being transparent glosses. So if you're looking for the shade in the tube, don't pick SHOCK GLOSS.

So, if the colours are sheer just what is it good for?

If (like me) you love the shiny, wet-look results that squeezable jelly glosses give you, but hate their gunky application and sticky formula you don't need to look any further. SHOCK GLOSS comes in a tube, with a spatula wand applicator to ensure even and precise application.

      SPATULA applicator?

The shape of applicator is indeed great for a smooth and precise application. The spatula shape is unable to be overloaded with product, so the gloss won't gloop on lips in uneven splodges. There is also less wastage of the gloss this way.

Where does the 3D bit come from?

The gloss isn't a plumping formula, but as it is a super-shiny wet-look finish it does make lips appear slightly fuller.

      The verdict

I love the megashine finish to my lips and the slightly fuller look to them. I also found this gloss to be less sticky compared to many other brands I've tried over the years.

The only thing that I've not liked is how close the colours look on lips. I have 2 shades of pink and the shades look the same on me. The only difference is that one of the shades contains glitter.

        Rimmel Shock Gloss!

Seeing as though I probably spend most of my day talking etc, I like to have a nice lip gloss on that I know will nourish my lips as well as make them stand out and look great.

I first came across this gloss when I was in Boots looking for a replacement. Because this was on offer for £2.99 I thought I would give it a go and see how it worked out. Looking back on it now, I am glad I made the decision to buy this as it is one of the best products I have bought for my lips!

The tube actually says this is a 3d magnifying gloss which is true! It has a very useful spatula attached to it which makes it very easy to apply and hard to go wrong.

In my opinion, the spatula worked for me although I have heard some of my friends say that they cannot get to grips with it because it is plastic.

I actually bought the clear version of this but there are alternative colours available. When I first applied this to my lips I found out that it stayed on for quite a large proportion of the day!

The only thing I do not rate this for is the fact that it can actually get quite sticky if you put too much on.

At £2.99 this was a great offer and this makes my lips stand out of the crowd and it keeps them looking great!

        4/5 From me.

        Holly x

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Will not buy this Rimmel product again but still love the other Rimmel products

I am a fan of lip glosses and have several that I use across the week. I was picking up a prescription in a chemist on my way home the other day and found myself looking at the rimmel section whilst I was waiting for my tablets. I saw this product was on special offer at just £2.99 for a 6ml tube, I also noticed it had a applicator that I had not tried before so for these reasons and the fact that it is Christmas party season I picked up one in 208 Amp'ed which is a redish colour, a colour I did not have in my lip gloss collection.

The tube states it is a 3D magnifying gloss and it is a spatula applicator. I was pleased with the price, the colour I was happy with for the party season but I was less pleased with the product than I thought I would be.

I find the spatula quite hard to work with and I have to blend it in with my fingertip as I can not get a very even finish with the plastic applicator. Once I have blended it in I am not really seeing the bright colour I see in the tube but a more subtle pinky shade which although is nice it is not quite the colour I thought I was buying. It does feel very sticky on and the colour did not last very long, a cup of coffee later and there was pretty much no trace of it.

Saying all that I did pass it on to my mum to use and she was pleased with it and the colour suited her a lot more than it did me.

I am usually a big fan of Rimmel for cost, quality and choice of colours but I am sad to say this product let me down a bit, but does not put me off using all my other lovely Rimmel products!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        would give it a go

This product was an special offer so I thought I would give it a try and also because I was on holiday in the middle of no where and this was all the shop sold.
It is in a round container with a screw top the applicator is in the lid. The lid is a nice rounded shape so it feels comfortable in your hand when you are applying it. It is a long applicator so you can reach what is left at the bottom. The applicator itself is like a spatula a flat, thin piece of bendy plastic I really don't like this although it is flexible it is still quite hard so isn't very comfortable on your lips. It doesn't apply the product very well you have to dab it on to get a good application as it isn't wide enough to cover your lips. This takes quite a while compare to other lipglosses which you can just sweep on.

The lip gloss itself is quite nice there are a few different colours but not really a large choice a few reds and pinks and one clear. The colour of the gloss has a slight tint to it but doesn't really colour your lip so if you did want to add colour you would still need a lipstick.

It is very shiny and is very good if you just want to add shine, it is just a shine no shimmery bits in it so when it dries you don't have bits of glitter sticking to your lips.

When you are wearing it, it is quite slimy feeling but not too sticky which is good. It does last for a while about 2 hours. My lips still felt in good condition after using it so it seems as though it won't dry them out.

If you want really shiny lips then I would give this product a try but not if you are after a colour or slight shine.
