Advantages: good application for the face, inexpensive, pleasant odour
Disadvantages: too time consuming, difficult all over tan
Well, what can i say, did i buy the wrong product for myself? or maybe my expectations where too high. Let's just say i didn't find the all-over, sunless, quick-fix tan i had in mind. But i did find an handy addition to my dressing table. I recently gave up using sunbeds and started using a bronzer by ambre solaire. I've loved it and almost perfected it's application, but one small problem is that my hubby hates the smell, personally i don't mind it although it is quite strong. So thinking i would give his nostrils a break i would look for a make-up type tan that would supply me with a quick-fix tan when needed without the odour. Plus i could use it on my face as i've always shy'd off from using the face wipes, and this product could wash off if the result was too disastrous. I decided on the Rimmel sunshimmer instant tan make-up, £2.99, nothing too drastic price-wise, went home, showered and exfoliated and ready for action. I stayed in the bathroom as instructions stated to wash hands throughly after application. I squeezed the tube into my hand and the cream actually resembled something that would have been more at home on ice-cream than on my skin!! ( i.e chocolate sauce) i started to apply it on my leg, and was a bit concered as it took a while to rub in and just kept smearing, when i ran my hands over my leg my ring left a white line where it dragged the make up off, (so please note, remove jewelry first). When at last it was rubbed in the colour was quite pleasing, i did my whole body including my face but i found the whole process too time consuming. I had to wash my hands immediately because i looked like i'd been tango'd!! Also my towel was covered in the stuff. I rubbed the make-up in as much as i could see and went to view in the long mirror, but unfortunately i was a little patchy on the back of my legsand my feet were darker brown in places and took some working on. M
y shoulders, chest & bust ca me off best, the tan there looked quite even and fairly natural. I was pleased with the result on my face i had quite an healthy glow. Feeling a bit disappointed but never the less unsmelly, i got dressed as the cream had dried due to the length of time i had been applying. I washed a couple of pots and found where the water had splashed the make up had come off, so not very substantial on an hot day i wouldn't think. Ok the long and short of it, for me not a good solution for an all over tan, takes too long to apply and a bit fiddly to get even, although a nice colour if you can manage to, and obviously not long lasting as it washes off so don't get caught in the rain! I will buy again to use on my face, i was pleased with the result there and maybe to use when wearing vest tops if i need a little colour. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has used this product and what they thought of it.
