“ Brand: Rimmel / Type: Eyeshadows / Subcategory: Colour „
I bought two of these off eBay, one as a gift and one for me. I paid £2.50 + P & P which was a good price I think. As much as I like the sets of makeup, there are always going to be some items that are not to your taste, that are not your colour etc.
The set I bought had six eye shadows, a trio of blusher and four lip glosses. The eye shadows were a peach colour, a purple, a darker brown, a light blue a grey and a charcoal colour. The lip glosses, three shades of brown and a red. The trio of blushers are pink, brownie pink and dark pink. I mainly decided to keep a set of this for me for the charcoal and the grey colours, I like the smokey look and £2.50 for two eye shadows is a little extreme but with these sets, without seeing them in person before you buy, you can never really tell the colours.
This does come with the whole inside lid as a mirror, which I like a lot. The little mirrors are impossible to use but this is a great size. You have to put up with the horrible sponge applicators, there are two in this set but I discard mine and use brushes. The trio of blushers I have only used a handful of times, because it is split into three stripes, it is hard to use any one colour at a time, I tend to use a big blusher brush and sweep it across all the colours to get a mixture as none of the colour son their own would really match my skin. The eye shadows are ok, I have used most of them apart from the blue which is a little bit garish but I am sure there is someone out there that must use and like it. The colours stay on well and coverage is easy to achieve, they don't crease or fade and overall are a fairly good standard.
The lip glosses are not so much a gloss as a coloured lard. The colours are a bit general and they feel very oily on the lips. It is hard to get decent coverage with the sponge applicators or lipstick brushes as they are a very thick consistency, also should you wear them on a night out, you would need to take the whole set out with you to re-apply so a bit farfetched I think. I wouldn't buy this for myself again but they do make cute little gifts for young girls just starting out with makeup, they won't know make up is better than this just yet.
I bought this palette recently after browsing about chemists and make up stores for hours and hours looking for a combination colour blusher..
I found one in this palette and have used it ever since.
The contents consist of :
6 x Eye Shadows
1 x Powder Blusher
4 x Lip Glosses
The eye shadow colours are great as there are neutral colours for during the day or for when your feeling a little reserved.
There is also some brighter colours for when your feeling confident and want a little edgier look.
The staying power of the shadows are great, they last for about 8 hours and apply as easy as your standard eyeshadow.
The blusher is great, instead of 1 block colour you have a square of various shades, this is brilliant because you have numerous shades in one.
The lipglosses are standard colours, some neutrals and some pinks etc. Personally I never use the lipgloss in palettes as I prefer to use my own gloss, but if you want to try these there are 2 applicators in the pack.
Overall it is a great palette that has a varity of colours for day time and also for a night out. As it has a full size mirror in the lid it is perfect for your handbag, you have glosses and colours all in one product.
Prices vary for this, you can pick them up on ebay.co.uk for about £2-£4 or around £6.99-£9.99 online and in chemists.
Rimmel Colour palette
I have put this into the category "eyes" because there was no category which was for eyes lips etc.
This is a handy product to carry around if you like a bit of a touch up through the day or if, like me, you feel a bit pale and less than interesting in the winter months.
The palette is packaged in a small cardboard box with details of the make up on the back. When I open it and get the palette out, I am faced with a rather nice black sturdy box with Rimmel on the front and a design of pink crowns- rather tasteful.
For me, the box was quite tricky at first to open because I kept pushing the small button at the front instead of lifting it up slightly whilst opening the lid. Once I had mastered this, then i didn't forget how to do it!
On the inside of the lid is a nice big mirror, the full size of the lid which is handy if you want to apply make up on the go, or just like to look at yourself. The 4 lip glosses sit down the left hand side of the palette and range in colour from browny colour through pinks to a quite deep red, all with a bit of a sparkle. Along the top of the palette and down the right hand side are the six squares of eyeshadow. There is a good range of colours; light pink, rose, brown, blue, light and dark grey. The powder blusher is in the centre of the palette and is the type which is three different colour stripes, so that when it is loaded onto your brush and then applied it is a more subtle sunkissed colour. There are also two small double sided brushes, one to apply the lip gloss and one to apply the eye shadow.
**What I think of the colour palette...**
The colour palette is nice and sturdy and can withstand the knocks it takes in my bag- still looks good as new. The eyeshadows, lip glosses and powder blusher are all good quality and apply easily. I like the fact that there is a big mirror if only to check that the spot that was there earlier in the day is still, as i imagine, still there.
The only problem i have with it is the fact that there is no blusher brush, but that's a ridiculous gripe really as they couldn't fit one in such a small box.
This is a nice all purpose make up palette with something for all those little daily touch ups.
Thanks for reading.
