“ Brand: Rimmel / Type: Lipgloss / Suitable for: Lip / What it does: volumizeses, brightens, „
I love a good lip gloss and this Volume Booster Plumping Gloss is a top ten contender. I bought this from Superdrug for £4.99 and as far as I can tell there are only four colour options that I have seen for this product.
Allure - Deep red
Passion - Shimmery light pink
Seduce - Caramel brown
Magnet - Shimmery Lighter pink
I have only used the Allure colour but this works really well with the packaging too. The lid of this is a bright red colour which works well with the silver strip in the middle and the silver writing along the side. Due to buying the Allure which is red, it gives the lipstick a very dramatic look. The applicator rather than the usual sponge tip is a brush which is unusual yet ok to use. I did find when you take the brush out for the first time it is overloaded with gloss and does need scraping off.
The colour itself is very bright and bold, some glosses with colour tend to just make the lips shine but the colour gets a bit lost in application but not with this one. The colour stays firma and bold and looks good. Thankfully with this time of using, I had worked out what that tingle on application was, it freaked me out fist time round. This time round I was expecting it although I am not sure it makes much of a difference. It is meant to plump your lips but I wouldn't say I noticed a huge difference. I often buy my make up from either the bargain bins or the pound shop and although a lot of it is well known brands I don't often spend a lot of money on makeup, for that reason this gloss was quite an expensive buy for me but I would say it was worth it. Although I wouldn't recommend it for its pumping action, the gloss itself it well worth it.
It is not overly sticky, it has a fruity smell but nothing overpowering. It lasts well, I do need to re-apply but that is to be expected with gloss. It feels nice on, very smooth consistency but not overly heavy. Great shine and nice colour to it.
I'm not huge on lip gloss; however, I was given this as part of a set and thought I should probably give it a go. The tube is standard Rimmel: a gold band separating the red screw-on lid and the transparent body of the container. Mine is a browny colour, and this does look pretty good I think. Not premium, but also not nasty and cheap.
Application is similar to other glosses I've used, except in the applicator itself. The lid screws off and attached to this is a long thin bit of plastic with a saturated brush, like the kind you'd use to apply lipstick, on the end (as opposed to the more usual bit of spongey material).
This is really neither pleasant nor unpleasant; due to the saturation of the brush I got what I felt was too much product, but which when spread over my lips actually turned out perfect. The gloss initially looks - and I can't find another word for it - 'gloopy': it is a similar consistency to honey, but I suppose slightly less stringy and much less sweet!
A few minutes after application it begins to tingle, and feels sort of 'cold', in the same way strong mints make the mouth tingle. This is a little unusual sensation, but I'm told not abnormal for plumping products, as apparently this is how they work. I'm not sure to what extent my lips looked fuller, but they certainly looked prettier than when bare, and the gloss was not excessively shiny making it suitable for daytime and/or more casual evenings.
The gloss stays put for a couple of hours at a time, which is pretty decent for a lip gloss in my experience.
Overall I'm pretty impressed. I've never been a huge fan of gloss because it's sticky, messy and looks a little childish sometimes; this, by contrast, really does accentuate natural features and colour, and for that reason I would recommend it. However, the 'plumping' effect was hard for me to see, and being as this is its selling point that's a bit of a concern. I do love this though, and will continue to wear it despite. 3/5.
Notes: I own this gloss in shade 'seduce', which is a natural pink-brown colour. It is available in various shades at chemists and some supermarkets nationwide, with prices around the £3-£5 mark, depending on where you get it.

I bought this product as a mistake, in my hungover daze I just chucked it in my superdrug basket thinking it was my rimmel stars one i normally buy.
I got home and thought ah well might aswell give it a go and im glad I did! This is a very good lipgloss which is very long lasting. I find that it tingles my lips slightly which is fine, i guess its just the plumping working.
The only reason i think my lips look more plump is because its quite a thick lipgloss and that will naturally make your lips look more plump and fuller right? Well thats my opinion. I appy lipgloss about 30 times daily (i think im addicted and need some serious help) and i must say its lasted me ages.
The lip gloss is not sticky like some lip glosses and it feels really smooth when you put it on. Another great thing is that its a brush end rather than the spongy type end (which makes the application very simple and easy). you see on loads of lipglosses.
Its well worth the money and I will deffinatly be buying it again... If your thinking of buying this product id 100% give it a go! xx
I bought this lipgloss, not really for the lip plumping power but because I liked the shade and it was on special offer - always a bonus!
On applying the gloss I waited for the miracle to occur and after a few minutes a did begin to feel a tingle which felt a bit like I'd just put some kind of menthol substance on my lips. This is it I thought, perfect pout ahoy!! Unfortunately the tingle lasted a couple of minutes and that was it!! Poised in front of the mirror, waiting for my lips to inflate before my eyes, I was sadly let down.
The Negatives: this lipgloss did not inflate my lips at all and does not last very well. The first time I wore it was on a night out with friends and found I had to constantly reapply.
The Positives: the texture of this gloss is gorgeous. I generally use MAC products and have to say that in my opinion this felt nicer and smoother on my lips than any MAC product I have used. The colour I used ( a neutral tone) is lovely and goes as well for work with natural make-up as it does with dressed-up smoky eyes for a night out.
Overall, nice lipgloss, beautifully smooth and silky on lips, nice shine but does not last and did not boost the volume of my lips!
I was very disappointed in this product. I bought it in bright red a few weeks ago, and although I was very happy with the colour as I had been searching for a new bright red gloss for a while I feel it does not live up to it's claims.
The product is very very sticky, something which I hate, when you open your mouth you dont want your lips to stick together!! It also feels likely to smudge across your face because of it's consistency, something I have never felt with a lip gloss before.
It did not boost my lips, I have used many lips plumping glosses and I am the most dis-satified with this one, I am unsure in what way it was it is meant to make them look bigger, but it certainly did.
I had to keep reapplying because the colour did not last and the sticky consistency meant I tried to avoid putting a lot on.
I would not buy this product again and would not recommend it.
I am always one for liking a little bit of colour on my lips, but because I suffer
from dry chapped lips, it can be quite hard to find something that will look and feel good.
A few months ago I starting thinking that lip gloss would be a good idea, and that it shouldn't dry out my lips. This gloss is now an essential part of my make up bag.
Rimmel Volume booster lip plump gloss.
Availability and Price
I got mine from Boots for £4.59. You can buy it in Boots, Superdrug, some Tesco stores and online.
About the product.
This lip gloss comes in 12 different shades. According to Rimmel's website it can make lips look up to 40% more fuller. It contains Collagen and Hyaluronic spheres.
The gloss comes in a clear solid plastic cylindrical tube. The words volume booster lip plump gloss are written across it in silver, the word volume is written in bold. It also has Rimmel's address and the size 6ml written around the tube, in a small font of silver print. The top of the plastic part of the tube is a full band of silver with the word Rimmel, this is transparent through the silver, so that you can see the lip gloss through the writing. The screw top long lid is a bright flashy looking metallic red, that tapers outward towards the top which is similar to an hour glass.
I brought the colour provoke, and I liked it so much that I went and brought another shade which is called allure. Even the names of the shades sound enticing.
The design of the tube is great because I can see straight through to the colour of the gloss that I am buying. I like the fact that the design is simple and eye catching, yet not cheap looking in any way.
I used to prefer sponge type applicators when it came to using lip gloss, but the brush on this one has converted me. The brush itself is attached to the lid and is quite strong, so I don't need to worry about accidentally pressing it a tad too hard on my lips and the colour going everywhere.
I unscrewed the lid and out came the brush. I took a sniff (I am a very curious person lol), and the gloss has a weird caramel type smell to it, but it is not unpleasant bearing in mind it's sitting under your nose all day.
It glides on really smooth and the colour is even all over, as with most lip glosses the gloss is quite thick and a little sticky, but once it's on it feels very smooth. You can feel that you are wearing this gloss, because it is quite weighty. After wearing it a few times I got used to the feel of it, and now it makes my lips feel like they have their own clothes, so they are not naked lol!
My lips always tingle for a few minutes after I have applied this, which I quite like the feel of. I think the tingling is the gloss trying to plump up my lips and I can taste a slight hint of menthol.
One of my shades (provoke) is light pinkie purple sparkly colour and the other (allure) is a deep plum red. Normally I find with lip glosses that you only get a hint of the colour, but with these the colour really stands out with a sparkly high gloss sheen.
It lasts ages on my lips, however being a gloss it does still transfer onto glasses ect. There always seems to be enough left on my lips even with this transfer, which lasts a fair few hours before it needs reapplying. Removing the gloss is simple, just use your normal face wipes, tissue or a cotton pad.
The gloss doesn't dry my lips out either which was my main reason for buying this, and now I wouldn't be without it.
I have had my lip glosses for a few months now, and I have only used half of a tube which in my book is great value for money.
So does it plump up my lips?
It does, but only slightly. If you are looking for dramatic trout pout type lips, then this won't be for you.
More than anything it really enhances your lips with the great colours and high gloss finish.
If you have read many of my other make-up reviews, you'll probably know that I am a big fan of lip gloss and always have several different ones on the go at the time. I currently have a few of this type of lip gloss as it was on a 3 for 2 offer in my local Superdrug a few weeks back, so naturally I took the opportunity to stock up! I have it in two shades: clear and passion (which is a darkish reddy brown shade), so this review is mostly referring to those shades.
Using The Lip Gloss
There is a thin brush inside the lid to apply the lip gloss to your lips. The brush is a bit thinner than I am used to with some other lip gloss brands, and I wasn't at first how this would affect the application. However, I found that it was actually easier to "paint" my lips with this brush as it gave a more precise application.
When the brush is loaded with lip gloss, the gloss looks quite thick and sticky. Despite this, it is actually surprisingly easy to spread it across your lips evenly.
The Finished Result
The lip gloss gave my lips a subtle stain of colour (for the passion shade)with a hint of gloss. If you are looking for an intense lip colour, this lip gloss probably isn't for you. I'm not convinced with the volume boosting qualities of this lip gloss - for the passion shade, at least. My bottom lip is reasonably full anyway and I didn't notice any difference here. My top lip is quite a bit thinner in comparison to my bottom lip, and this product didn't appear to make it appear any fuller.
For the clear type, I did notice a difference though as my top lip was quite noticeably fuller looking and looked far more in proportion to my bottom lip. The gloss is stickier than the passion shade and it isn't brilliantly shiny. If you want to a product that gives your lips intense shine, this probably isn't the best option as I have used other lip glosses that give glossier results than this one. However, for a volume booster, I would recommend the clear type as it did seem to have an effect on my lips. I am only giving this a 3-star rating though based on the fact that the passion shade had no real effect on how full my lips appeared after applying it.
For a fuller, glossy look!
