Advantages: Good value, smells and feels nice, easy to appply, subtle colours
Disadvantages: Limited choice.
When I was young full lips were not in fashion. In fact the only full celebrity with big full lips seemed to be Mick Jagger, and his were often a figure of fun. These days female role models tend to have full luscious lips.
Unfortunately most women are still not blessed with the same pouting lips and some resort to injections or worse in order to improve their thin lips. I always tended to have quite thin lips but, now that I am well into middle age, they seem to be disappearing altogether.
Many lipsticks do not do me any favours and actually make thin lips look worse. I don't usually wear make-up for work but do splash the odd touch of lipstick or lip gloss on, especially in winter to prevent cracked lips.
So, picking up my prescription from the local chemists, I was interested to find, whilst browsing the make up shelves, that Rimmel now make a Volume Booster for lips. It looks a nice product and at £3 something was not too expensive. Of course there are cheaper lip glosses but this one seemed to have a lot going for it.
What was the verdict then?
The hard plastic case has a twist of top that encloses an applicator. This is really a type of stick with a brush at the end. However it does make the product easy to apply.
The packaging is nice and sturdy but very compact. It will fit easily into a pocket or small handbag. I find that it is so easy to apply that I can do so on the bus to work, if necessary.
I bought a pale pink Rimmel Lip Volume but the exact name of the colour is nowhere on the packaging. Take my word for it though it is a lovely shade which is not too garish but more subtle.
The lip gloss has a smell of sweets. It is a little like vanilla but only just. The consistency is thick and glouppy. That word is made up but describes this lip gloss perfectly. The size of the gloss is 6ml.
When you apply this product to your lips it has a sticky feeling but not in an unpleasant way. Within a short time you lips tingle a little. The feeling is similar to when you apply a product such as Blisteaze. I guess this is the booster getting to work. It does feel as if your lips are swelling slightly, although on inspection the difference is hardly noticeable.
However I do like this lip gloss as:-
The colour is subtle.
It is easy to apply.
It is good value as it lasts quite a while.
It is made by Rimmel.
It leaves your lips looking glossy but not horribly shiny.
Recommended?
Yes. I like this product as a lip gloss with or without the volume boosting properties. However the fact that my lips may come to live a little is a bonus.
On the downside there are only a couple of colours available at present.
As this product is a good lip gloss you have nothing to lose in trying it out, even if the volume boost does nothing for you. You never now though you may get the pout you have always wanted.
Thanks for reading
