Advantages: Easy to apply
Disadvantages: Some shades don't appear to have an effect, can be a bit sticky
If you have read many of my other make-up reviews, you'll probably know that I am a big fan of lip gloss and always have several different ones on the go at the time. I currently have a few of this type of lip gloss as it was on a 3 for 2 offer in my local Superdrug a few weeks back, so naturally I took the opportunity to stock up! I have it in two shades: clear and passion (which is a darkish reddy brown shade), so this review is mostly referring to those shades.
Using The Lip Gloss
There is a thin brush inside the lid to apply the lip gloss to your lips. The brush is a bit thinner than I am used to with some other lip gloss brands, and I wasn't at first how this would affect the application. However, I found that it was actually easier to "paint" my lips with this brush as it gave a more precise application.
When the brush is loaded with lip gloss, the gloss looks quite thick and sticky. Despite this, it is actually surprisingly easy to spread it across your lips evenly.
The Finished Result
The lip gloss gave my lips a subtle stain of colour (for the passion shade)with a hint of gloss. If you are looking for an intense lip colour, this lip gloss probably isn't for you. I'm not convinced with the volume boosting qualities of this lip gloss - for the passion shade, at least. My bottom lip is reasonably full anyway and I didn't notice any difference here. My top lip is quite a bit thinner in comparison to my bottom lip, and this product didn't appear to make it appear any fuller.
For the clear type, I did notice a difference though as my top lip was quite noticeably fuller looking and looked far more in proportion to my bottom lip. The gloss is stickier than the passion shade and it isn't brilliantly shiny. If you want to a product that gives your lips intense shine, this probably isn't the best option as I have used other lip glosses that give glossier results than this one. However, for a volume booster, I would recommend the clear type as it did seem to have an effect on my lips. I am only giving this a 3-star rating though based on the fact that the passion shade had no real effect on how full my lips appeared after applying it.
Summary: Decent lip gloss that can plump up your lips if you use the clear type
