I'm not a mascara connoisseur as before this mascara i only used a very cheap rimmel line that was discon here a few yrs ago (I can't remember its name).
I find this mascara good at volumising. I have medium length lashes that aren't very black. I have the extreme black version of this and feel confident to go without black eye liner. Like others have mentioned it wears off after a few hours (especially if u have pregnancy shiny face like me :-( )
I may start to venture into the world of mascaras and see which works well for me. I think it's a good place to get very black and separated (not clumpy) eyelashes This was my go to mascara for years and then I repurchased about 3 months ago and it was like a totally different product. I like a natural look and apply mascara very carefully to achieve this look. This used to be the perfect mascara for this purpose. Now the brush has been changed to be more curved and the actual formulation of the mascara is thicker and more wet.
- Once this stuff has dried out a little its better
- Adds volume
- Adds length
- Can be clumpy
- Brush always seems to have too much product on it
- Can be difficult to achieve a more natural everyday look
good for the lowprice i bought it for but it is definetly nothing special and i would not buy again
This was one of my first 'proper' mascaras and over the years I have continued buying it, apparently Rimmel is the word for mascara is some languages as well, showing how synominous they are with would cosmetics.
Here are my thoughts on volume flash mascara.
Nothing fancy here just a slick plain black tube with red writing and a bullet type lid. This is described on the packaging as 'supercharged lashes in a flash up 10x more volume instantly'. This packaging will not get terrorised in my bag and the lid shuts almost air tight meaning the mascara does not get dry inside.
This is extreme black and it really is, I love my mascaras to be as dark as possible and you can always rely on Rimmel for this.
The mascara is not too thick or thin, it can clump on the wand a little bit but it does not have that effect on the lashes. One of the downsides of his mascara is that it takes a lot time to dry. Although this is good as I can it on a number of layers before it drys (so no clumps) this can make it quite messy meaning a good clean up with a baby wipe after.
This is not waterproof but it is humidity proof and does not melt away in the summer.
There is a sight fall out towards the end of the day with this, meaning I have to clear black flakes from the tops of my cheeks!
Do I think it gives ten times volume? Probably not but it does certainly make my lashes thicker and stand out. This is just as good as most other mascaras.
One of the best part of this mascara is the curl it gives. As I have said in another review previously I am not very good at using an eyelash curler (too lazy) so I need a mascara that does all of the work for me. This definitely does it.
This is another job that this mascara does brilliantly, I don't know why it wasn't advertised n these merits. The length lasts most of the day as well as doesn't totally deflate as others do.
Price and Availablity
Rimmel is one of the most easily available makeup s brands in this country and can be found in all good supermarkets and chemists, as well as a whole host of stores online. This is one of the cheaper in the range and I normally purchase it for £4.99.
One of the best, well priced mascaras around, but due to the fall out and not receiving the volume promised I will drop a point.
I used this mascara on my own eyelashes and on my fake eyelashes.
First of all, on my own eyelashes this was a very good mascara, as I found that it added length as well as thickness, without making them too clumpy. I found that the brush was easy to work with, and it was easy to get into the corners of my eyes so that all of my eye lashes got an even coverage of mascara.
Secondly, I used this mascara on my fake eyelashes. It is very hard to get a mascara that works well on fake eyelashes, as they normally clump the eyelashes together in a horrible way. However, I did not find that with this mascara. I found that it made them longer, but not much thicker, and added that extra bit of darkness that fake eyelashes sometimes need.
This therefore shows that this mascara is suitable for both fake and real eyelashes.
I'm quite a fan of Rimmel and often opt for this brand when it comes to make-up at a reasonable price. I'd seen Volume Flash mascara advertised & bought it when it had a few quid off the price; unfortunately, I found it to be a little clumpy but it does add some thickness and 'volume' to lashes.
Rimmel is a very popular brand with a large, modern range of cosmetics to choose from. I like their style and find some products can work quite well, but often the claims of mascaras don't seem to be quite fulfilled. Volume Flash is a rather funky red, almost bullet-shaped mascara with silver text detail on the front. It looks sleeks and catches your eye, so it gets a thumbs up for outer appearances from me.
This particular range now actually has a few other variants, including Volume Flash The Max, but this review is for the standard x10 Volume Flash. It claims to have a 'lock and load' formula that thickens lashes to create more volume. On the back of the mascara it is described as providing 'super-charged lashes in a flash' with 'up to 10 x more volume instantly'. Now, if my lashes actually had 10x more volume I would be a little concerned because it would be like having curtains over my eyes each time I blinked, so I wasn't expecting quite that. Just a bit of extra thickness would be nice.
After dipping the wand a few times and brushing off excess around the top, I noticed that the applicator is very 'normal' in the sense that it's straight rather than curved. I also noticed that the mascara seemed quite thick on it, so I was a little more careful when applying it. Obviously, it depends on exactly how you apply mascara and how much you use, but I tend to do two coats to get a fuller effect, and one coat with a little less if it's for more casual daytime wear.
I bought this in black and you can see the colour straight away, giving your eyes a more dramatic look. The mascara goes on easily but I did find it seemed to be a little clumpy, despite trying to get off excess on the wand first. I think the mascara itself could have done with being a little more supple and less thick in consistency to avoid this, but it did give my lashes a thicker appearance. Lashes did clump together slightly so I tried to separate any obvious lash groupings, and was pleased with the overall finished result after a few tweaks.
This should provide a good length of staying power (up to 16 hours) without clumps. I would say it lasted quite well for a few hours without smudging, and the 'volume' seemed to stay in terms of the thickness of my lashes. I wouldn't necessarily say they stayed lengthened and curled as I had them at first, so a little touch up wouldn't go amiss. It was easy enough to remove afterwards with my Simple face wipes as this isn't waterproof.
All in all, this is a 'good enough' mascara if you want to add some thickness to your lashes and draw attention to your peepers. Unfortunately I wasn't so keen on the aspect of clumping that I noticed, but it was acceptable in the sense that I've used far worse! It has fairly good staying power and creates a defined and luscious lash effect at a reasonable price.

*~What & Why~*
This is mascara and a staple item in my make-up bag. I don't wear much make up but do wear mascara every day. As I've got older I feel that my face can look pretty drab at times and applying a coat or two of mascara brightens up my eye area making me look less tired.
Because I wear mascara daily I do get through a whole heap more than my friends do. I also find that mascara and I have a love, hate, frustration type of romance as I have very short, sparse and stubbly eyelashes that don't grow uniformly.
I look for mascara that can make my eyelashes look thicker, doesn't clump and comes off relatively easy with an eye makeup remover and having come to the end of my last brand I decided I needed new mascara and definitely wanted to give a new brand a try.
I was browsing the ASOS sale last summer and spotted the Rimmel Volume Flash mascara for only £3 which is a real bargain so added it to my basket and it was delivered within five business days. Normally I hate spending a lot of money on a cosmetic product, especially if there is a possibility it won't work that great so I tend to look in sales or for samples.
'Load your lashes with Rimmel volume, black mascara. 5 times the volume with 2 times the pigment will immediately thicken your lashes creating a truly striking finish. Its unique formula locks on to your eye lashes for dramatic boldness, yet remains very easy to remove come the end of the day.
With no clumping, smearing, sticking or flaking, it's easy to see why Kate Moss swears by Rimmel volume extreme black mascara.
This comes in a shiny black and red mascara tube with the applicator wand hidden inside like most other mascara brands. The tube is shaped like an extended bullet and is chunkier than other brands. I feel this gives it a really fun look and is easy to grip securely while applying the mascara.
The brush is slightly longer than standard brands and has a curve in the centre, this curve grips each lash and curls it slightly while you apply. I love products that save time and have dual purposes. The mascara as very black, shiny and more fluid than some other big brands. I found that although the mascara was more fluid it dried quickly and didn't smear once while applying it.
Normally I find that advertisements for brands are really hyped up beyond belief. I hate that they use eyelash extensions on the models and generally don't trust many of the claims, however this was a real bargain and upon receiving it I had to try it straight away.
I found this mascara to be dreamlike so much so I physically said to my husband, 'Oh my goodness look at my eyelashes' straight after applying it. I had never tried mascara that worked quite so amazingly before and remember I have used a heap of mascara's. Needless to say my husband didn't know the difference between this one and my old one.
Each eyelash was visible, looked thicker and made my eyelashes look uniform (rather than criss crossed) Once application was enough for my day time look. If I wanted to look extra special another coat really made my eyes pop and smoulder.
I found also that applying the second coat was just as easy, rather than struggling to get the coat through my eyelashes. I also haven't come across any clumping, flaking or smearing and it can be washed off with normal facial cleanser with ease.
I have now finished this mascara and have re-purchased another. As they say if it's not broken why fix it (or something along those lines) the original mascara lasted around seven months with daily use (give or take a few days here or there).
I definitely recommend this to others, especially if you want eyes that 'wow'.
I'm definetly the sort of girl who can't leave the house without a bit of mascara on and I have an enormous collection, which I add to weekly as I am, admittedly a bit of a hoarder when it comes to makeup - especially mascara! I first heard of this particular mascara, the Rimmel Volume Flash, around a year ago. I'm not a huge fan of Rimmel products, and despite hearing good things about it, I never tried it until recently - I decided to give it a go as I found it on eBay (unopened!) for just 99p.
Price and Availability
As mentioned above, I actually got this mascara via eBay, however it can also be bought from shops such as Boots, Superdrug, ASOS and chemists/supermarkets. The RRP ranges from £5-£7 depending on where you buy it from, which I think is a reasonable price considering it's a good quality mascara.
The packaging for this mascara actually varies depending on whether you get the waterproof, extreme black, or original. I have the original, which comes in a red mascara tube. The tube is quite chunky and it reminds me of the Falsies mascara tube - it has the same kind of shape to it. The writing on the mascara tube is silver and it simply reads 'Volume Flash'. The brand name (Rimmel) is written in red writing on a silver band near the lid. The lid simply screws off and it has the wand and applicating brush attatched to it. The brush is pretty simple in design with small bristles all over it which are average length - not much to say about it really! Overall the packaging is pretty good. Red is quite an unusual colour for a mascara tube in my opinion and it comes in handy - because I have so many mascaras, the colour makes it easy for me to recognise this when i'm rummaging around in my makeup bag trying to find it.
Rimmel claim that this mascara adds instant volume to the lashes and also thickens them, creating extra thick, full lashes.
I've bein using this mascara daily for the past 2/3 months now and I really like it. The formula is good - not too runny but not too thick and it is well pigmented so provides bold and noticeably darker lashes. The mascara feels lightweight on my eyelashes which is a plus side as I hate it when mascara feels caked on and heavy. The mascara is easy to apply onto my lashes as the brush is just the right size and it distributes the mascara onto my lashes neatly and evenly. This mascara is very buildable which I like. With one coat, it adds a noticeable amount of thickness to my lashes and a small increase in length is noticeable, so this is good for daytime wear when I want a more subtle look, however whenever I go out, 3 or 4 coats of this on my upper and lower lashes is enough to make my eyelashes look almost as big and gorgeous as they would look if I was wearing false lashes. The mascara doesn't dry my lashes up at all, meaning it doesn't flake after time and it doesn't easily smudge either. As I own the original of this mascara, it is not waterproof, however I do find that it takes alot for it to run, for example if I sneeze it doesn't budge at all, where as most other mascaras would. The look it provides is big, striking, bold lashes, as promised, so I really can't complain!
The lasting power is brilliant. It keeps my lashes looking gorgeous from 7am in the morning, until I get home again at 4.30/5pm which I think is great. It doesn't really budge at all, there's no smudging or fallout (sometimes mascara can dry up and 'flake', which this doesn't!), however I haven't really ever worn it for much longer than around 8 hours so any longer than this I can't comment on the lasting power however 8 hours is a brilliant amount of time in my opinion. In hot atmospheres such as clubs or when it's warmer weather, it lasts just as good and doesn't run or smudge. Removing the mascara is easy, it comes off nicely without me having to press down hard, and it only takes around 2 makeup wipes for it to be completely gone, without leaving any trace of it behind.
I am really impressed with this mascara and would highly reccomend it - it lasts well, looks good and doesn't irritate my sensetive eyes at all. 5/5!
I have been using this mascara for many years and it is definitely one of the best I have tried and I have tried a lot! I have quite long lashes anyway so when I look for a mascara I'm really looking for volume and this mascara gives me just that.
It is quite a thick mascara which I guess is why it gives you volume but the brush is quite thin (it isn't one of those huge toilet brush type things!) which helps to get to the tiny lashes in the corner of the eyes. It definitely lengthens them, makes them ultra black and makes them look a lot fuller.
The only downside I would say is that it doesn't last that long in the tube, I always find it dries out within a few months and goes clumpy quite quickly but you can't expect too much when you are only spending about £6 on a mascara.
I recently decided that I wanted to save up for a holiday, and as part of my money saving scheme, I have decided to switch to cheaper make up brands, as I usually use Benefit make up and this is quite expensive. I popped into Boots on the high street on a recent shopping trip to find a cheaper Mascara but I wanted one that would still work well, as I did still want good quality at a lower price.
I looked at the Rimmel section and came across their Volume Flash Mascara, which claims that it gives you 10 x the volume for your eyelashes. It was only £5.49 so I thought that it seemed like a good deal and if it wasn't brilliant, it wouldn't be a lot of money wasted. I bought the Extreme Black, as I like to have as dark lashes as possible.
The tube of mascara itself is black, with a red band and the writing on the tube is also in red. It is almost like a foil type of print. The tube contains 8ml of mascara, and the top of the tube has a slightly curved top to it. Just like most mascaras, you have to twist the top to open the tube and reveal the wand. The wand is attached to a long stick inside the top half of the tube.
The brush at the end of the wand is of a good size, and it is really easy to get most of my lashes in one swipe. I found just one dip into the mascara is enough to do both the top and bottom lashes on one eye, and my lashes get coated really well with this mascara.
You can instantly see a good difference in the lashes, they look thicker, much longer and very black straight away. I only need one coat to make the lashes look big and beautiful and I was really impressed with the way my eyelashes looked after using this. It does take a second or two longer to dry than I am used to, but this is no big deal.
I was a little bit worried that the mascara wouldn't have long lasting effects, but luckily it did and it actually lasted me all day! I never had any problems with it running, fading or just generally disappearing off my eyelashes, and they still looked as good at the end of the day as it did when I applied it. I also found that is was really easy to remove it too, with make up wipes and when washing my face. It just comes off nicely and there is no extras on my face when I wake up in the morning. No one likes panda eyes do they? Well maybe the Panda!!
All in all, I am actually really impressed with this mascara and it makes me wonder why I bothered spending so much money on more expensive brands of mascara when this one is just as good and much cheaper to buy.
I bought my tube of this macara in Boots, but you can also buy it in Superdrug and in some larger supermarkets that also sell make up. It may be different prices in some places though, so check around to find the best prices.
I am unsure as to how long this tube will last, but I am happy with the way it is so far and I can happily say that I will continue to buy this mascara in the future. It makes my eyelashes look fantastic and I can honestly not find a bad point about this mascara. I totally recommend it to everyone, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This mascara claims to be "Extreme Black" and "3x lash multiplying effect mascara" as well as having a "zero clump applicator."
The applicator is like a mini comb for your eyelashes, which is quite effective for preventing clumps, but then sometimes feels like it's pulling on your eyelashes, especially when applying a second or third coat of mascara, desperately trying to get the product to live up to its "3x lash multiplying effect".
While this product does add more volume to my lashes, making them look slightly longer, it's not a drastic difference. I apply several coats before giving up, and being satisfied with how my lashes look. I am by no means amazed. I brought this mascara for nights out (I don't bother too much with make up otherwise) but have found it more suitable for the day time. They don't volumize my lashes to the extent I would expect from what the product leads me to believe.
However, it does the job of a normal mascara, and isn't over sticky and doesn't run easily. It doesn't irritate my eyes either, which is always good.
Rimmel is a company which has been running for nearly two centuries. Since it started trading, it has gone on to become one of the leading cosmetics companies and produces products that are generally of a high quality and that solve every beauty dilemmas. I own many of their products, especially their mascaras and the lastest addition to my collection is the Volume Flash x10 curved brush mascara.
What does the product do?
The Volume Flash x10 mascara claims to give the lashes fast volume for those who don't have time to spare. It promises to multiply the volume of your lashes by up to ten times their normal thickness. It claims to coat each separate lash using a special formula without causing any clumping.
How does the product work?
The product apparently works because the formula bonds to the lashes quickly and holds onto them. As the formula wraps itself around the lashes, it inflates which makes the lashes look much thicker and fuller.
The only available shades are black or extreme black so you'll have to be happy with that if you want to use the product. As part of the Volume Plus collection there is a waterproof version, a version with a straight brush instead of a curved one and a new product called Volume Flash - The Max Bold Curves available which does the same sort of job.
Packaging and Price
The packaging of this product is trendy and eye catching. The tube has a sleek shape and it is made out of very smooth plastic which is shiny. The packaging is a deep red and if you look closely at the product, it has a slight shimmer to it. There is some silver writing on the front and some information which tells us the product will give us super charged lashes.
When you twist the lid to remove it, you see that the wand is attached in the usual way and the brush is curved in shape and this is supposed to match the shape of your lash line to make application easier and faster. The lid is easy to hold onto while you are using the product so you can be precise and have good control of the product.
The product costs around £6 for 8ml of the mascara which is about average for mascaras by similar brands. It is widely available and it can be bought from many high street shops including Superdrug, large supermarkets and a variety of online websites. It is frequently on offer so you may find it for slightly cheaper.
The product is easy to apply and the curved brush doesn't make the process any more difficult or any easier. The wand is sturdy and allows you to use some pressure so you can have a better control of the application. It does coat each lash, including the smaller ones on each end and it doesn't touch the skin around my eyes as I am using the product so I don't end up with any marks.
If I use a zig zag motion when applying the product it doesn't cause any clumping of the lashes and each lash is defined so my lashes do appear a bit fuller due to this. The application is done in a flash as the name suggests, but then what mascara isn't applied in a flash? After all, it is a relatively quick job and this product doesn't make it any faster.
The mouth of the tube doesn't have that part which controls how much product comes out at the very top and I assume this is because the brush is curved. The wand flies out of the tube without you having to apply any pressure and too much product can come out on the brush as a result. I think this also allows too much air to enter the tube as you are using the product, which is drying up the formula quickly and I've only had mine for a while.
This mascara doesn't really make that much difference to my eye lashes and it certainly does not increase the volume by up to ten times. I think it would be pushing it to say that it doubles the volume of my lashes which is something of a disappointment. I already have long and thick eyelashes and it didn't improve the appearance of my eyelashes any more than a cheap mascara would.
The appearance that it gives my lashes is suitable for day wear as it enhancing them marginally but I would never consider wearing this on an evening out or for a special occasion. Not only does it not give my lashes the promised coverage, but the coverage that it does give me is not long lasting either.
The colour which it gives me is dark so the blackness comes out well and this gives definition to my eyes. Sadly, within a few hours, I experience quite a lot of flaking and the mascara falls onto the skin beneath my eyes making me look tired and unpresentable. It also smudges very easily if you touch the eye area at all while wearing the product. When it's time to remove the product, it is easily removed with my usual cleanser which is not suprising as I don't think it was ever on that securely anyway.
All in all, for a Rimmel mascara, this product is a big disappointment. It doesn't increase the volume of my lashes, flakes away within a few hours and leaves me looking tired. Other than causing no clumping, it doesn't live up to any of its promises and this one is going in the bin.
The Rimmel Extreme Black volume flash x10 mascara, I bought from Tesco for around £6. I normally buy Maybelline mascara's but as I could only get to Tesco Rimmel seemed the best option from the range they had. That said I have and still do use some other Rimmel products and usually find them satisfactory so was not necessarily disappointed.
The mascara is in a jet black rounded tube with the usual brush inside the end you unscrew.
The name and information is printed in a metallic red which stands out clearly and is easy to read. As for information goes, there is not that much to be honest, basically they give you they address in case of any issues, they do promise me "super charged lashes" though.
**THE PRODUCT AND WHAT I THINK**
On undoing my mascara I find my wand brush. Now over recent years they have gone through numerous different shapes and thicknesses from differing companies to extend and thicken your lashes. Imagine my surprise when this brush looks like the first one I ever used some years ago now. I have to admit I was dubious about whether it could "super charge my lashes" especially to the x10 they suggest.
The brush is straight and thin with medium spread bristles, collected together in little groups; no hint of a curve or various size bristles in sight.
The mascara looks quite thick when you pull out the brush and it seems to coat fairly evenly the whole way up.
Easy to use the brush glides through your lashes simply and coats them instantaneously, giving a longer look appearance. I wouldn't say x 10 exactly but defiantly longer all the same. No clumps can be seen, I tend to give my lashes two coats of any mascara anyway and this is plenty with the product.
The look is a more natural one than extreme and would suit a more daytime, work appearance rather than going out on the town. Your lashes will not be thickened by this mascara, but they don't market the product for this anyway.
Washing off is simple with water or with cleansers I find. It is not waterproof and will smudge if you rub your eyes hard, but when out in the rain I didn't notice it running down my face which is always a bonus.
Lasts 12 months from opening, although beauty people say you should change your mascara every 6 months to stop germs. Volume is 8mls.
A good simple mascara for everyday use.
Like many women I suspect, I like my makeup but I do have a couple of staple items that I absolutely couldn't do without. One of these is mascara. I have pale eyelashes, so when I'm not wearing mascara it looks as though I don't actually have any eyelashes at all. Since I've started to dye my hair dark brown, this looks even sillier than usual, so mascara is an absolute must.
Somehow, however, I have managed to get through the year without actually purchasing a mascara. I got one free when buying two other items of makeup at The Body Shop, and a few months ago I got a Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara through the post as a prize after entering a draw on Rimmel's website. It's slightly different to the usual Volume Flash Mascara, being the 'x10' type, claiming to give 10x volume.
I've been very impressed with Rimmel mascaras in the past and the brand is one of my favourites, so I was very pleased to receive this. The mascara is attractively packaged in a red tube with silver writing, very modern and eye-catching. The name of the product is printed on the side along with a list of ingredients and an indication that the mascara can be used for up to 6 months (in common with most other mascaras). It is claimed that the mascara provides 'super-charged lashes in a flash' and gives 'up to 10x more volume instantly'.
The mascara wand is small with many tiny bristles and is straight, not curved. The size of the wand means it is easy to apply the mascara without making a mess, and it is possible to cover all eyelashes, even those in the corner and on the bottom. The small bristles mean that individual eyelashes stand out and are not clumped together. My eyelashes look really long and distinctive, but - as they are separated and not clumped together - still natural. I find that one coat is enough for the daytime, and I can apply another at night for a more dramatic look.
The only problem with this mascara that I can find is that it seems to come off more easily than others I've used. When I apply the mascara and wait for it to dry, I have to be careful when blinking as the mascara can sometimes transfer onto the skin below or above my eye - and I don't have particularly long eyelashes. When I'm at the gym, too, I often get 'panda eyes' when I'm sweating! I'm not sure if it would come off in the rain, as I'm always careful to wear a hat! The plus side of this aspect of the mascara is that it comes off very easily when using normal cleanser, with no rubbing required. In fairness, Rimmel do not claim that this mascara is waterproof but I have never used waterproof mascara in my life and other mascaras rarely come off as easily as this one.
The mascara costs £5.99 but can often be purchased on special offer at Boots or Superdrug, such as the 3 for 2 offer on makeup at Boots which seems to be on quite a lot. Rimmel products are widely available at Boots and Superdrug as well as many supermarkets and pharmacies, and are priced very reasonably for their quality.
To sum up, this is a good budget mascara that gives great results but is let down slightly by the ease at which it smudges. I won't be buying this mascara again but I will continue to buy other Rimmel mascaras.
I had been looking around for awhile for a new mascara as I usually buy the Christian Dior but I am on a lower budget at the moment and so wanted to buy a cheaper one to save some money and I thought I would give this one a try as it was reduced at Tesco for only £4 and the usual price was over £6 and I thought it was a bargain for a good brand of beauty products.
Rimmel is a good brand and I have bought their products before and so thought I would like it, it comes in a nice black tube with a pointed screw off top and it has a bright red attractive writing on around the tube and the top and inside the wand is a nice size and the brush at the end of the wand is quite long too and the bristles are very soft on the lashes and it is very easy to apply.
It does not clog the lashes after application and the lashes easily open as it is applied and it dries very quickly to apply another coat if needed, I usually always apply 2 coats and I have very long eye lashes and they spread out after I have applied it.
It is a black coloured mascara and it the lashes look longer when dried and I have used a eye lash curler with this mascara and it has not rubbed off onto the curler and I have been very pleased with the super quality of this one indeed.
It is very easy to take off the lashes too with a facial wipe and I have also used baby wipes for this purpose and it has removed it very easily without making my eyes sore.
It says on the tube it gives 10 times more volume instantly and I would say it does and the tube is extremely light indeed and at first I was amazed how light it was because it is much lighter than most other ones I have had in the past and it is a nice size for placing in a make up bag and also a hand bag for if needed if at work or out for the day or a night out etc.
It does not say it is waterproof but my eyes have watered a couple of times in general and I have had no problems with it at all with smudges etc and so I am thinking it probably is waterproof too in my opinion.
I highly recommend this one for anyone to give it a try as I do not think you would be disappointed at all with it and I am completely happy with it and will be buying it again in the future too.
I give it 5 stars for excellent quality and price and very good value for money.
Thank you for reading my review.
I only have one more mascara to write about after this review so Ive decided to try and get those reviews out the way with today - Im trying to get all my beauty reviews done by the end of the month so I can write about something different for a change! Anyway as bad as this sounds this mascara has been in one of my make-up cases for about 2 years - CRINGE! But I havent used it for ages and it was there forgotten so Im going to finish this review and then bin it like I have with so many products over this last week. Me not using this for about 2 years should really tell you what I thought/think of this mascara ... its terrible and thats such a shame because I do like other Rimmel mascaras that are a lot like this one but sadly this one simply didnt work.
Price: Around £8
Stockists: Boots, Superdrug & Fragrance Direct
For: Creating Volume & Length To Your Lashes In Just One Sweep.
Shades: Black & Black Waterproof Are The Only Two I Can Find.
The one thing I do like about this mascara is that the handle is quite thick and chunky meaning you can hold it easily and get a good grip so it is easy to apply but apart from that Im not impressed. The brush for this mascara is very curved and spoon shaped which is meant to help it fit your lashes better but in this case the brush is simply too flexible. The brush is so rubbery that it is often flicking about all over the place and I lost count of the amount of times I have poked myself in the eye with this brush the shape just makes applying it so much harder - this is one of the worst brushes Ive ever come across in all honesty.
The mascara itself actually has a nice consistency and once it is on your lashes does dry very quickly without any clumps so I dont actually have a problem with that but again everything else is awful. Even when you finally manage to get this onto your lashes I dont think it makes much of a difference to your appearance and its way too fiddly to even attempt a second coat. I dont think this volumises my lashes in the slightest and even though it does make them a tiny bit longer its not enough to bother with the annoying brush and Ive got mascaras that do it much better without the brush poking me in the eye and the mascara going all over the place.
I dont recommend this because it takes much longer than a flash to apply and even when you have managed that it doesnt look that good anyway. Dont waste your time or money.

Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara
I love rimmel products and of the many...many ones that I have tried they all seem to be really good and of a really high standard but of me this is a one off in the rimmel book. I did not like this mascara and I have the waterproof one too and I don't like them unfortunately.
It says that it gives x10 volume in a flash but I really don't think that it did and also the mascara brush was really really small and I am used to using the dior show one this was a bit of a let down.
I like the packaging and the simple and sleek design and I like that they also have a waterproof one but this one is not for me. I have quite long lashes and this just makes them look wiry and 'spidery' (If that is even a word... well it is now).
For me it did not give my lashes any volume but a bit of a curl and it did coat my lashes well but it can be a bit blotchy and clumpy in places.
*Compact and durable packaging
*Light in weight
*Widely available and they have a waterproof one
*A bit blotchy sometimes
*Not a lot of volume
*Really small brush which left my quite long lashes looking wiry and not very nice to say the least
*Not a very sturdy brush
Thank you for reading my review
Five times the volume in a flash! Instant thickening mascara that bonds to lashes without sticking or clumping /
