Advantages: Great packaging, blends well, makes my skin feel refreshed!
Disadvantages: Shades could be a bit more varied so that there is something for everyone
You can't hide your tired eyes as a song once said (or something similar!). Well you can - with a good foundation and especially one that has 'Wake Me Up' in the name! It's like an alarm clock for your face! I had seen so many adverts with Kate Moss pretending to have just woken up with full hair and make up done and then putting the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation on, but I was intrigued to know how it was going to wake me up and what my skin would benefit from it. So down to Boots I went to solve the mystery quest. This is the first make up that Rimmel have produced that 'instantly reawakens skin with a healthy radiant glow' and minimises premature skin ageing including fine lines and wrinkles. The light, smooth texture gives your skin a 100% natural, poreless coverage instantly and eliminates any signs of tiredness and gives your skin a lift from fatigue! Wow it sounds good so far doesn't it? But it doesn't stop there, 'radiance pearls' which are beads of a light reflecting formula are included in the ingredients for a healthy, radiant glow and a flawless natural finish. Peptides (which are amino acid bonds) increase elasticity so your skin recovers and 'bounces back' more quickly while SPF 15 protects your skin from not only sun damage but the suns ageing effects!
Standing in the shop reading that, I thought it sounded amazing and couldn't wait to try it! The packaging is very loud and bright as well - a definite show stopper and stand out item. With a sturdy glass bottle that has a bit of a Bodycon dress effect to it as the foundation inside is shaped to curve around the glass rather than fill it - quite a neat trick! It's coloured the shade that you pick which makes it easier to choose the right shade but the stand out feature would be the bright orange lid and writing to match - its very stylish, fresh and unique! I love it! Once you take the carrot top lid off there is an equally bright orange pump -a quality I love foundations to have!
There are 6 shades available in this range; although it is not that varied there is probably something to suit everyone, hopefully. They are:
True Ivory - This is the lightest shade of the range and is a very pale, pearly, pinkish toned foundation suitable for fair complexions.
Ivory - This is a light shade but has a bit more colour to it, perfect for anyone with a fair skin tone but still wants some colour.
Classic beige - This is a fair to medium shade, suitable for anyone with a fake or real tan that gives a gorgeous golden glow!
True Nude - Although entitled 'Nude' it is more of a medium shade, perfect for olive and medium complexions.
Natural beige - One of the slightly darker shades with golden and bronzed undertones.
Soft beige - The darkest shade of the range with a golden midtone.
I chose the lightest 'True Ivory' and found that it suits me well without washing me out - I love creating the 'English Rose Look' with this foundation and a powder pink blush! I like to apply mine with the Real Techniques Stippling Brush as it has the density and thickness to pick up enough product and it soft enough when blending in, however any brush will do. I have also tried applying this with my fingers however I prefer the results from the brush. It glides on really evenly and well, I find I don't have to go over any dry patches and it does not cake or become chalky during the day. It makes my skin appear healthier and more glowing with an ever so slight shimmer to catch the sunlight. The coverage is medium to full depending on how much you build it up and you can wear it on its own or with powder - I chose to do the latter as it makes it last longer - for up to 12 hours!
Available at Boots, Superdrug, any department store that stocks Rimmel, selected supermarkets, all good online make up stores as well as eBay and Amazon. Wake up to a new you today!
