Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil
by Kirsty_89
DESCRIPTION
I've always been a fan of defined eyebrows, not as angular and loud as some people have them but I feel some definition adds a lot to a person's face. Your eyebrows frame your eyes and for me it's a good thing to make your eyes stand out. This Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Product is something I use almost everyday ... and it claims to enhance and refine the shape of the eyebrows. There are 3 shades of the product; hazel, dark brown & brown/black.
PACKAGING
The packaging is very simple because the product is basically a pencil. The wooden pencil holds a brown lead and the wood is painted black. The product information in engrained on the pencil in silver and there is a brown lid on top of the pencil with a handy brush attached to groom your eyebrows.
PRICE
At the moment you can purchase this product from Superdrug for £2.99.
PERFORMANCE
This pencil is very easy to use and the handy brush makes it even more effective due to being able to brush the eyebrows into shape before applying the product. The product when applied is similar to a pencil eyeliner but not as harsh, the product is lighter in terms of consistency and it therefore allows you to have a lot of control on the desired look you wish to achieve.
For day to day make up you simply brush the pencil in small strokes along your natural eyebrows if however you wanted a more dramatic look say for a night out then you can apply more pressure to create a more defined look.
A good tip also when doing your eyebrows is to make three points to get the correct shape. The start of your eyebrow should begin at the outer edge of your nose, grab a small ruler, hold it on the edge of your nose pointing straight up, where the ruler meets your eyebrow make a point, your eyebrow should not go past this point on to the nose and it should not start away from it. Next keep the ruler pressed against the edge of your nose but drag the top so that it travels over your pupil, at the point the top of the ruler reaches your eyebrow, make a mark, this is the arch of your eyebrow (some people won't have very prominent arches at all like myself). Lastly once again keeping the ruler at the edge of your nose drag the top to line up with the outer corner of your eye, where the ruler reaches your eyebrow, this should be the end. If you groom and define with the Rimmel pencil to those guidelines you will achieve a rather professional and very defined eyebrow.
On the whole this product is a simple yet effective pencil which should be easy to use for beginners or people who are really experienced and want a professional look.
STAYING POWER
The one thing that lets this product down is the staying power. Don't start scratching your eyebrows or anything because it will come off, however I can't really judge the product harshly on this because this is the same for most eyebrow products but I will deduct a star. A trick to aid staying power is to define your eyebrows with the pencil then afterwards use a clear mascara or spray some hairspray on to the brush provided then gently go over the eyebrow.
OVERALL
This is a product I personally like but it doesn't reach 5 stars due to it's staying power, there are eyebrow stains available which I have also tried that give a natural look and stay for days and so although this is a very good product I can't quite give it top marks. Read the complete review |
