      Disadvantages

A fantastic lip salve that takes my trusty Carmex to 2nd place.

      ***Why I want the product?***
As everyone knows I have an obsession with lip products, whether it will be gloss, lipstick and most importantly lip balms/treatments.
In my last review I stated my love for Carmex Lip Balm and while this is true I felt I had to stray once more and delve into the world of Rosebud Perfume Co.

      ***About the company***
Rosebud Perfume Co was created in 1895 by George F. Smith in a small drug store, that quickly found them expanding into a large building that was formerly known as a hotel. Rosebud Perfume Co now ship to almost every country in the world.

Rosebud Perfume Co are known for the lip balms/salves in metal retro tins and Smith's Rosebud Salve is the best selling product to date but in 2011 they launched their new product Salve in a Tube.

      ***About the product***
Salve in a Tube comes in three different flavours/scents to tickle your taste buds. You have the original Smith's Rosebud Salve, Strawberry Lip Balm and Mocha Lip Balms. I have personally gone for the original Smith's Rosebud Salve in a Tube.

This world famous lip salve has been discovered by Hollywood stars and makeup artists and is their best kept secret. Rosebud Salve is still a favourite to aid chapped lips and dry skin. This little miracle can also be used on minor burns, dry cuticles and nappy rash, dry elbows...

***What ingredients are in Smith's Rosebud Salve?***
Cotton Sead Oil, Aromol, with a blend of trade secret essential oils blended in a special petrolatum base.

Lip balms that contain any type of petrolatum I usually hate, I always find this ingredient is more a barrier on the lips and does no moisturising what so ever, in fact I find this ingredient to dry my lips the more I apply. However, I knew this lip salve would be different due to all the five star rave reviews, celebrities and makeup artists loving it.

      ***Packaging***
Rosebud Perfume Co are known for their vintage packaging, their tined balms are always in retro, vintage styles that grab the buyers attention. It makes you feel special and makes you feel like a lady.
The tube is no exception. This product comes in a 15ml white semi-opaque plastic squeezable tube. The design feels a little more modern than the tines but still has the retro/ vintage feel that makes you feel special. The front tells you about what the product is, the back tells you what the product contains and the expiry, which is a staggering 30 months!

The navy blue screw off lid is easy to take off and closes securely back into place with no mess.

***What does the product smell and look like?***
Because this product is in a tube and not the tin I find it has a more slidified texture that is softer than its tin, which is solid. Squeezing a small amount to the back of my hand the first thing that hits you is the smell, and a smell I cannot put my finger on. It smells minty, with a vanilla undertone with strawberries mixed in. It is not a horrible smell, more of a smell that is uplifting, refreshing and leaves you wanting to smell it more.
The colour is pale pink and the formula is soft and glossy without being sticky in anyway.

***Applying the product, and how it feels***
Applying the salve to my naked lips I am greeted with the softest and comforting feeling that really does glide on like a dream. The look from this salve looks like I have just applied an expensive gloss with a pink tint. The salve is none sticky and none waxy, which makes it, stand out for me. It really does feel like an expensive gloss has been applied with all of the moisturising benefits.
Only a tiny amount is necessary for it to glide over your entire lips.

As it is a softer formula than in the tin I find the product to transfer quicker, but this is only the first layer, which is a gloss. I find even though the gloss may have dimished a little the product is still there moisturising away until I need a little re-apply.

I love to apply a thicker amount before bed so the product can work uninterrupted for hours on end. I wake with soft, beautiful lips that are relieved of any dry, chapped or sore skin.
I have also mixed this salve with lipstick for extra shine and moisture. Rosebud have also stated on their website, during allergy and cold season, dab on a dry, irritated nose to relieve discomfort.

Another thing I love to do for a special treat is to apply the salve onto my cuticles at night. As the salve is a light moisturising formula it doesn't take long for the product to sink in with a little help of massage. My cuticles are left softer than any cuticle oil I have ever used.

      ***Price and availability***
I purchased this product from amazon.co.uk for £5.93.

***What I think about it/do I like it?***
Although the price may be expensive for some this really is a brilliant product, it really keeps my lips soft and moisturised for hours and feels a luxury to apply, whether it will be on your lips or cuticles like I use it. It softens my lips that well that actually look plumper, which is a first.

In all a fantastic product from Rosebud Perfume Co, and a product I will no doubt re-purchase.
