After watching a few too many episodes of 10 Years Younger I noticed the make-up artists always used some sort of colour to define the eyebrows. The results were usually impressive so I went on the hunt for something to experiment with myself. I found a lot of the eyebrow 'kits' to be on the expensive side but, armed with a Boots £5 off voucher, was pleased to discover a product in the Ruby & Millie range.
R & M Brow Colour comes in a nifty little clear compact with a swivel out section containing the colour itself. This section is divided into two sections, one contains the colour as a pressed powder and the other half contains a 'balm' which is used to tame and shape your eyebrows. The compact comes in different shades and being blonde I, unsuprisingly, chose the blonde version.
I was a little apprehensive about the colour of the powder in this blonde version as it looked quite dark compared to my medium-blonde hair colour. Not to fear though the colour was quite subtle when I applied a small amount to my eyebrows. A second sweep over gave my brows definition whilst still looking convincingly un-fake. The last thing I want is to look like a Barbie with painted on brows.
I especially like the balm in the second half. It can be applied over the colour but I particularly like to use it on its own. It gives me that groomed look without being overly done-up and is great for during the day. Unlike Vaseline it isn't shiny at all so you can't tell I've actually used anything except that I look well groomed!
Because I use it more often the balm in this compact has run out quicker than the colour, which after several months reasonable usage still seems relatively untouched. This is a little annoying as it means I have to buy a whole new compact just for the balm - maybe a 3/4 balm, 1/4 colour divide would have been better. Maybe that's just me though!
Overall a nice product that I'd buy again, not overly expensive but good quality and a good colour match.
This is another product I received as a gift, I always ask for ruby and millie products for my birthday and xmas because they are really expensive for me to afford myself. I really like the packaging of most of them because they come in silvery metal cases which make them look really classy.
I used to use the body shops eyebrow definer many years ago and while it is not what id call an essential product to have i thought the extra colour in my eyebrows defined my face a little more.
The brow definer is set inside a little round transparent plastic box, you open by sliding the product out from inside it and then you can click it back shut after youve finished.
The colour I have is brow colour beige and brown enhancer 0. These make up to separate halves of the circular pot.
The brow enhancer looks an peachy colour but it is completely clear and much like vasaline in texture, it is for shaping your eyebrows and setting any straggly hairs into place. You are supposed to apply it with a brow brush but I just use my fingers. I dont actually see any advantage in using this to vasaline.
The brow colour is a very natural medium brown which you can apply on its own or after the brow enhancer, it does define my eyebrows well but it can be rubbed off easily when its applied on its own. I dont think it is any better than other less expensive products that do the same.
The product costs 10 pounds in boots. I just hope it was bought with advantage points.
This is an amazing product by Ruby and Millie face enhance. Many supermodels and famouse celebrities swear that by enhancing their face, it would enhance thier features making them look more beautiful then ever. Basically i was drawn by the lovely clear disc shaped design, with two tone colours, one with a dark shade and a lighter shade on the other. You use the lighted colour to bring your features forward such as the bridge of your nose and cheek bones, and then you would use the darker shade to push the features you dont like back. The colours are very subtul with a powdery light finish ,but the durability is not that good. It does give a good definition to the face and its very compact to carry around with you for touching up your face during the evening. It cost around £12 and are from Boots, i am happy with this product because it gives the final finish to my make up.
I bought Ruby and Millie's brow colour in Beige and it is brilliant, I have dark hair and mid brown eyebrows but wanted a little more definition and didn't really like pencils as they created to harsh a line. The brow colour is packagaed in in a futuristic plastic disc, half is the powder brow colour and the other half is a wax so once you have filled in your brows (I use a hard tipped slanted brush), then you just apply a little wax to keep them in the shape you require and your ready for your close up. I use this about 4 times a week and it has lasted me a year so far, so it's excellent value.
