Sainsbury's Basics Cotton Wool Pads
Advantages: Good for removing make up.
When I buy cotton pads or wool I just usually buy the ones that catch my eye at the time and do not have a favourite brand and I often like to buy a shops own brand as they are affordable and good value for money. Recently I bought these pads from Sainsbury's and they are the basics range of their own brands and are a little cheaper in price and very affordable.
They come in a transparent plastic wrapper, it is kind of like a tube and the pads are stacked inside, at the top of the pack there are 2 sets of strings, one the pads have been opened these 2 strings close the top of the packet to keep the pads inside the packet to keep them nice and clean and ready to use.
Each pad measures approximately 2 inches diameter, they are white and the texture of each one is very soft and smooth. They are 100% cotton and they feel very soft and gentle on the skin. I like to use them to remove my make up sometimes, they are easy enough to hold and the size is just right to glide across my face, they are very absorbent and a very good quality for the cheap price. When I am removing a cleanser I use these pads and they remove the liquid perfectly with no problems at all.
These are usually priced at around 45p and I think they are good value for money, in the pack there are 80 pads, I think this amount is amazingly good. I usually only have to use up to 2 of these pads to cleanse my face because they are quite thick and I find the cotton wool does stay on the pad as I have often found with some other brands that the fibres come off the pad when they are dry before using them but with these that is not the case, the fibres lay flat onto the pads.
These are a little smaller than some of the branded ones but I really like the size of them and I just think they are adequate enough to be used for the purpose they are used for and I have had no problems with them being just that little bit smaller.
I have used these pads in the past for cleaning believe it or not, I have soaked some of them in a little bleach and folded them around the cord that is attached to my light cord in my bathroom and the cords on my blinds to clean them. I have left them soaking for up to around 20 minutes and the bleach soaked onto the pad has whitened the cord to make it clean and then I have just then wiped the cord with hot soapy water. I first saw this tip on a programme called How Clean Is You House, and I tried the tip they gave on the programme to clean with cotton wool pads and used these pads because they were so cheap and so I was not wasting money using them for cleaning and they worked very well.
They are easy to store because of the packet is slim and I have often taken these on holiday or overnight stay in my bag and they take very little room and I have not always taken a full packet and the draw string is very useful to keep the pads in place while travelling too.
I find them very gentle on my face and they do not scratch my skin and give me the results that I expect from a cotton wool pad.
I much prefer a pad than a cotton wool ball as I find them easier to glide across the skin and I do not drop them when using them as I often do with the balls and these are a good thickness to get a good grip and are very comfortable to use in my opinion.
I do highly recommend these for anyone to try as I think they are very affordable and very good quality pads and worth the price and I will continue to buy them as I think they are amazingly fabulous little pads.
I give them 5 stars.
