Advantages: Strengthens nails

Disadvantages: None for me

Sally hansen hard as nails

I don't usually have any problems with my nails but recently they have been breaking quite easily and just don't seem very strong- too much house work me thinks! Rather than just applying my usual base coat and clear polish, i decided it was time to buy some kind of speciality product and see if it would strengthen them up.

WHAT IS IT?

Basically this is a nail strengthener but given the state of my nails, i am not filled with confidence by the name- hard as nails!

This nail strengthener contains nylon and will apparently protect nails against housework, water detergents and every day hazards. Once applied, it will form a super strong and smooth coating which will help to protect against chipping splitting and breaking, and because it contains added silk, nails will be fortified.

This is what I need!

PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...

The product comes with a cardboard back with all the instructions and information on the back. When I peel off the packaging and get at the product, my clear product (also available in natural) looks and smells like other nail varnishes. It has a nice thick brush so is very easy to apply, and does dry quite quickly, although it's best to be careful that the brush isn't overloaded with product or it takes ages to dry.

USING IT...

Shake the bottle gently and apply 2 or 3 thin coats directly over clean nails, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next. I assume that it can also be used as a base coat before applying a coloured nail varnish for anyone who doesn't like the naked look. Although it doesn't tell me how often it should be removed and reapplied, i try not to do it too often in case the remover damages my nails and have found that once or twice a week is enough- it's clear so it doesn't look chipped at any point.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...

Widely available, this costs around the £4.50 mark for 13.3ml of the product.

VERDICT...

Having used this regularly for a few weeks now, I do notice a definite improvement in the strength of my nails and they are not just flaking away so easily, but this could also be to do with the fact that I have been away and my nails have had some sunshine. However, that said, the product has done my nails some good and they are now thankfully hard (as nails). It is easy to apply, easy to remove and whilst it isn't especially cheap, it does last for ages, and the results are visible within a couple of weeks.

Recommended product if you want to strengthen your nails.

Thanks for reading.

Nice 1. Do keep an eye out though because I've seen it in Ethel Austin for £1.50 - in fact they do a wole range of Sally Hansen products! :o) x

Always skeptical with these type of products but glad to hear this has worked for you, although will be interesting to see if it keeps up without the extra Sun.
