Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
Advantages: Helps strengthen nails.
Disadvantages: Could be a little more stronger for the nails.
It comes in a quite big nail varnish bottle with a screw off top, the top is easy to twist. The bottle also comes in a cardboard packaging. The bottle is transparent and the wand of the vanish is quite a long one. The brush at the end of the wand is quite long too and the bristles are very fine. The varnish is clear in colour too and it smells just the same as a nail varnish but it is not too strong a smell.
I found this one very easy to apply to my nails, what I really like about the brush is that it fans over my nails really nicely to give a nice even coverage. As I brush my nails it feels nice and soft and it glides over them just perfectly. I find that only a couple of strokes with the brush gave a quick coverage and took no time at all. The top at the end of the wand is very easy to hold in the hands because it is quite big but not too bulky. It fits in the hands really well so that it is comfortable to use and not slip from the hands as I have often found some other brands to do. With this one it feels really sturdy so that my hand does not shake while applying it.
All that is needed is to shake the bottle and then apply 2 coats over clean nails and then allow each coat to dry completely before apply the next one. I found the coats dried very quickly and it gave a nice gloss to my nails and my nails felt very smooth and soft. This also I have felt has stayed on my nails for up to 2 days without chipping. It lasts just that little longer than some other brands in my opinion. I found it easy to remove with a nail varnish remover after a couple of days after it has began to chip and then another couple of coats can then be applied and the process begins all over again.
I have been using this one for around 5 weeks and I have found it to be quite a good one for my nails, it has helped strengthen them a little bit but not so much so that my nails have not broken at all. I have still found the odd one to break at the tip of the nail but they have been a little stronger than when I have used a cheaper brand. Some also did split after awhile and I have had this happen in the same way as with using a cheaper brand. I would say it did however take up to 2 weeks or so to see any benefits with this one but I am pleased with the strength of my nails but not totally happy with the results considering this one is priced higher than some brands and the results are only slightly different.
This one cost me £4.75 for a 13.3ml bottle and so I did expect it to give my nails more strength I guess for that little extra price. I do think it is not really worth the high price for the strength it gave for my nails and I am not sure I would buy it again in the future because I am not fully satisfied with the results for my nails. I do like the drying time with this one and being such a quick time does save time if you are wanting to paint the nails if you have not much time and need a quick drying varnish.
The bottle is also slim line and so fits well in a make up bag or a bag if you are taking it on holiday or for an overnight stay. The wand does not bend while applying the varnish and so that makes for a more comfortable hold too in my opinion.
I bought this one from Boots and it was recommended to me by the shop assistant. She told me it was quite a popular one and so that is the reason I decided to give it a go. My nails are a little stronger after constant usage but I am not totally satisfied. I have also used this one over the top of a coloured varnish and it looks quite nice with the extra gloss on the nails. It also does look nice used just clear without a coloured varnish underneath.
I do recommend this one if you are looking for a little bit stronger nail strengthener but the results in my opinion are not so great that I think it is worth the extra price. It is good quality but not so much good value at just under the £5 mark with this one as I cannot tell much difference between a cheaper brand and this one in my opinion for my nails.
I give this one only 4 stars because for the price I expected a little more strength for my nails.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
