==Sally Hansen Miracle Cure For Nails==
My nails are probably one of my biggest bug bears as they never grow and always look shameful. That said I really have never been one for constantly taking care of my nails on a daily basis and I often get fads where I will maintain them nicely for a few days and then revert back to leaving them unloved.
I got to a stage where I could take no more a few months back and decided to treat my peeling short nails to a little bit of love in the form of this new product to the Sally Hansen range. This "Miracle Cure" really sounds like it could be the ideal thing for people with nails such as mine but considering I had tried other Sally Hansen products before I was unsure how well I would be able to keep up with the application and thus get the results that the manufacturers claim.
However I decided I would make myself spend at least 10 minutes on my nails each evening and I am really rather proud of myself that I have kept up with it and by using this product and amazed at the results that I have got.
The little 13.3 ml bottle is not a cheap product at a few pennies off from £10 but the lure of the marketing of the product really drew me in and I know that most of the Sally Hansen product are very well thought of. I bought my bottle from Tesco along with my weekly shop but I have seen it in boots as well and having just had a look online you can pick it up for £7 on Amazon but postage and packing would have to be taken into account too.
The claims of the product are pretty outstanding and the packaging spells it out quite clearly with a large star containing the information that you can expect to get 50% stronger nails within a mere 3 days! Sounds good so far! Other information on the outer box is the fact that the product contains powerful anti-oxidants in order to strengthen the nail from within and also a ton of vitamins and minerals to work towards getting the nails in tip top condition and fully moisturised.
The product works just like a clear nail varnish and also looks and smells like one too. The varnish is filled up to the top of the bottle so you do feel as though you are getting your monies worth from it. The Miracle Cure can be used on its own or as an undercoat for a coloured nail polish and with either option only one coat of this product is needed. The bottle does give very limited information on the back but this does tell you again the instruction for use which is helpful once the outer box has been thrown away.
You need to shake the bottle of varnish each time you use and apply the one coat to clean bare nails. Very simple to use and this is exactly what I did. I noticed the strong results on the second day of use really and my nails not only looked better but had a good deal of strength to them too. After a week my nails were growing well and all at a similar rate when they would normally break all at different times and I would just leave them.
I did already have an issue with my right thumb nail with the top of the nail peeling and of course this products didn't fix this layered effect but since filing that top part of my nail away and regularly applying this product I didn't get any more peeling with this nail at all which has been a first for a while too.
I am so surprised that I have never had nails this good before and I am really pleased with the overall results of this bottle of what is literally a "Miracle Cure". It is now alittle over the two month mark of me using this product and I am coming to the end of my bottle now but I do have plans to buy another. My nails are long and strong and very much loving this extra care and attention that they have never really been subject to before.
I feel that this product was well worth every penny and sticking to the rules of applying it every other day means that not only are your nails getting the bonus care of the product itself but also a file, buff and rub each time the old polish is removed in order to apply a new coat which I do think helps the mail growth along too.
As you can tell I really do rate this product and the results do speak for themselves. I won't wait to fully run out before I buy another bottle as I am afraid if I stop using it my new feminine nails will be gone for good!
It has to be a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and a high recommendation! It really did work for me and I couldn't be happier!
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
I have read other reviews whereby following on from having children, a woman's nails never seem to grow the same as beforehand and that is definitely my experience too! Before having my two children I used to be able to grow my nails quite long and they always looked strong and healthy but for the last 8 years that has not been the case - babies really do take a lot out of you during pregnancy and birth and it is on-going!!! Ever since my nails have split, flaked, become brittle and been virtually impossible to grow to a nice length and they don't grow as quickly as they once did. I did go through a period where I had false nails put on as I do like my hands and nails to look nice but when my husband was made redundant 18 months ago I of course stopped that little luxury and after using acrylic, my natural nails were in even more of a weakened state!
I then turned to other remedies in order to get my own nails to grow and have used several Sally Hansen products in the past, not always with good results but I think that has often been down to the fact that I have not used the product as instructed, i.e. I forget to do it every day or whatever is required (although I usually start off with the best of intentions - but don't most of us?!).
Of course any product that has the word 'miracle' in it is an immediate draw and a clever marketing ploy and even though we probably all have a little voice saying - 'you know that's probably an overstatement don't you?', I just can't resist them just in case one of them actually lives up to the promise.
The nail strengthener comes in a bright blue nail varnish sized bottle with a gold top with white writing on the front. Once the lid is unscrewed you find an average sized nail varnish brush and apply the product just like any other varnish. The packaging as showed is a cardboard surround that has all the information on it about the product.
Basically, this strengthener contains vitamins that nourish the nails from within whilst the varnish itself gives a hard protective covering to the nail itself thus protecting it from the stresses of day to day life.
The instructions are very easy in that one thin coat needs to be applied to clean, bare, dry nails every other day or it can be used as a base coat under varnish. The product is quite thin and runny so take care not to apply too much but wipe off any excess on the neck of the bottle. This does have a very strong chemical smell which my husband really doesn't like so best to do this in an airy space with a window open! The product gives a subtle shine to your nails once dried and I must say on pressing my nail gently it did feel immediately a little bit stronger and less soft and bendy even after the first use.
The blurb does state that your nails could be 50% in just 3 days and the fact you apply this every other day is quite impressive if true, no? This strengthener will help your nails to become healthier looking and much more resilient. It contains natural protein and powerful anti-oxidants which help the nails to become stronger from within - i.e. this doesn't just protect the outer layer but works much deeper down which is exactly what my nails need! This product also helps maintain a necessary amount of moisture within the nail to stop them from drying out and cracking and splitting through being dehydrated although drinking lots of water can also help that problem! On top of all this micro-minerals help to mend any tiny amounts of damage already in the nail and protects them from further damage.
DOES IT WORK?
I have today I have been really stringent in applying this product every other day for the past two weeks and my nails are 90% better than they were and they are all now all over the nail bed by a good 3-4mms and uniform in length so for me this really has helped to improve my nails and I am only another two weeks or so away from having long, healthy looking nails once again that belong to me!!!!
I would say it is definitely worth giving this particular product a go but I would say that it really is important to follow the instructions to the letter to get the best out of this product. This costs around £8-9 so although it is cheaper than falsies it is still relatively expensive and therefore a waste if you are not going to use it properly and then not get the desired results.
I would definitely recommend this product on the evidence of the current look of my nails. They are much stronger and more flexible and are not splitting or flaking as before. I am hopeful that I have found a way of maintaining my nails to the desired effect.
Thanks for reading. x

My nails go through stages where they are really healthy and long or where they are splitting and flaking at the edges. During this latter stage I saw an advert for Sally Hansen's 'Miracle Cure'. I had heard of the Sally Hansen products before but never really paid any attention to them owing to the high price of the products. At this stage, however, I was willing to pay the large price tag to see if anything could be done to strengthen my nails.
Miracle Cure claims that if you have peeling, breaking, splitting and dry nails use of the product will strengthen your nails by 50% in just 3 days.
The instructions say that you should apply one thin coat to clean, dry, bare nails every other day. It took me a while to figure out that this meant that you have to remove the earlier coat before applying another one. The instructions also say that you can use the Miracle Cure as a base coat when applying a colour. I have tried using Miracle Cure both ways and I am still waiting for the 'miracle' to take place.
I used Miracle Cure until it got to that gloopy stage that most nail varnishes get to after they have been open a while and I noticed no significant change. I have now stopped using it. I am very disappointed with this product, especially considering the high price I paid for it.
I always had fantastic nails always neat long and painted, I did not suffer from peeling cracking or spliting nails so never really needed this type of treatment.
However I now have a 19 month old little boy my hands are constantly in water for both cleaning and playing reasons, (to be honest I think it all started when I got pregnant my hair skin and nails suffered) my nails are now split uneven cracked they break very easily as they are so brittle. I am looking for miracle cure so when I saw Sally Hanson Miracle Cure I thought I would give it a try, It claims to instantly strengthen and protect nails just what I needed??
The bright blue bottle is slim and easily held in the hand that is not doing the brush work, however the brush is very slim you need to do quite a few strokes to complete each nail, the treatment itself has a really really strong smell which really burnt my nose and caught my breath, it is also quite thick so not all that easy to apply.
Once on the treatment took a while to dry and stayed quite tacky. Once it did dry it left a lovely shine it did ot crack or peel off, my nails felt instantly stronger.
After a week of use my nails look healthier the ridges seem to have disappeared too but I dont think they appear any longer.
I would recommend Sally Hanson Miracle Cure to any mum who has neglected her nails, it is not too expensive at just under £8, definately worth a try.
'Stop your nails from peeling. Guaranteed!' That's what Sally promised me on the box of her Miracle Cure - and then made off sniggering with my £9.65!
After moving to a new home last summer I noticed a dramatic change to my nails. They became almost pathetically weak, and peeled all the time. I more recently discovered that as I now live in a hard water area, this is most likely cause of the damage -great.
Anyway moving again is obviously out of the question - yeah, my hubby was not happy when I suggested that - so a cure seemed the most logical method.
Sally Hansen is probably the most well known nail care brand on the market today, and is most definately the most available thanks to it emerging into our chemists and even supermarkets.
That said it isn't exactly cheap. (£9.65 for 13.3ml at Boots)
The instructions tell you to shake the bottle gently, and then apply one thin coat to clean, dry bare nails every other day. It is virtually impossible to apply a thin coat of this 'cure' , as it's consistency is extremely thick. I tried to brush any excess product off my nail, however, that seems to leave an ugly, streaky mess.
Sally also says to use this treatment as a base coat under your polish, which seemed like a great idea to me as I like to switch my nail colour every other day. This surprisingly works well as a base coat in as much as it offers an even base for you to apply your colour.
For me the negatives of Miracle Cure are as follows;
* It did not stop my peeling nails, they were still as bad as before I bought it.
* My nails actually started to yellow from using it, which has never happened before. (I have always used base coats before painting my nails)
* The product cannot justify the price.
This would not be a product I would recommend to anyone due to my results using it. For a brand as well regarded as Sally Hansen I did expect a lot more.
This is truly a miracle nail cure. I often wear false nails and get them manicured, and after my false nails come off they are always left damaged, dull, weak and often painful. I had heard a lot about Sally Hansen but had never tried it before due to how expensive it was so when I seen this product on offer I did not hesitate to buy it.
I am so thankful I did, my nails have never looked so fantastic!
The nail varnish is clear and lasts such a long time; you can wear it on its own or with another nail colour. It still works amazingly.
With in a week of using this product my nails were perfect! So much stronger and healthier they no longer split or crack. The texture of my nails were so much smoother and were no longer dull or yellow. They seemed to grow quickly too! I am now no longer tempted to bite my nails now as they look so great.
This nail varnish is packed full of goodness required to keep great nails. It contains micro-minerals which fill in gaps and crack in your nails which then instantly makes nails stronger and healthier it also contains anti oxidants and natural protein all the products in this polish have reasons to be there and all do a great job.
I can not honestly praise this product enough my nails have a huge new leas if life and have dramatically changed for the better, I will defiantly be buying from Sally Hansen again.
This bottle comes in a 13ml bottle and cost around £9 but it is really worth the money as the polish lasts such a long time! A must have for any ones nails!
For some reason, since I became pregnant in 2006, my nails have rapidly decreased in strength. Prior to becoming pregnant I had lovely strong healthy looking nails and did think that they would return to this state once I had given birth to my daughter. However 2 years on, they are in fact worse than ever.
A few months ago I resorted to buying Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in the hope that my nails would be protected and therefore grow longer and stronger. However this product was a big disappointment (see my other review) and I resigned myself to the fact that I was destined to have rubbish nails until I could afford to have acrylics applied in a salon.
I did however get fed up of waiting for such a time, as in the current economic climate, it is highly unlikely that i'm going to have enough spare cash to warrant having my nails done, so I returned to Boots looking for something that I could apply myself. There were various products on display, all promising longer and stronger nails, but I was drawn (yet again) to the Sally Hansen product.
Even though I had had a dodgy experience with the other product, the blurb on the box seemed to make sense as to what was happenning with my nails. The "promise" was that it contained vitamins which would soak into my nails whilst bonding the layers together, and protecting from the outside with a hard coating, effectively stopping the nails from splitting, flaking and peeling. The "guarantee" is as follows:
50% stronger nails in 3 days
Encourages healthier, more resilient nails
Natural protein and powerful anti-oxidants help strengthen nails from within.
Helps to restore essential moisture to dry nails
Micro-mineral formula bonds tiny fractures and layers acting as protective armour for fragile nails.
Conditions dryness to restore flexibility
At £8.75 it was quite pricey, but I thought I would give it a go, and so far, it has been totally worth the money.
You apply one coat to clean dry nails and leave to dry. If you want to paint your nails, you can apply another coat on top of the nail polish. The product comes in a nail varnish sized bottle, and has the usual sized nail brush inside. It does smell quite strongly of chemicals, similar to that of acrylic, so it's worth doing this with the windows open! Once the coats have dried, they don't peel or chip (like the hard as nails), and your nail is protected. The product itself is clear and dries relatively quickly to leave a hard shiny surface on your nail which looks really nice.
I have been using this for a fortnight and during this time I have not had a single breakage or tear on any of my nails. Prior to using this you could guarantee that there would be at least one breakage or split every couple of days, sometimes halfway down the nail! It does say in the instructions to apply every couple of days, but I have found that it lasts 4 or 5 days without any hint of needing to reapply.
All in all I am really happy with this product, and for the first time in years I actually have healthy looking nails.
OK, lets start off with a description of what this product does. Its a nail coat or varnish which is called "Miracle Cure" and is for "severe problem nails". The main problem and reason I picked out this particular treatment from Superdrug (costing nearly £8) was because I have nails which split and peel. Its annoying, can be painful as they can then split ans I can scratch my skin accidentally and it also means that nail varnish is a no go area (nail varnish makes the whole thing worse).
I have flaky nails. My nails are flaky for various reasons but the main one is generally because I do not eat enough essential fats in my daily diet. (That's a long eating disordered story which I wont bore you with here). (I do eat some by the way, but just not enough). Its also not helped by my daily hot showers with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which can all rinse the bodies natural oils from your skin, nails and cuticles and make any repair my body tries on me much much harder. Other problems are the citrus fruits I eat- or I should say peel as this is where the problem is. The acid on the peel of the oranges and grapefruit I eat does not help my nails either.
Other people may have problems from splitting nails brought about by poor vitamins in their diet- brought about by lack of calcium, lack of B- vitamins, poor sleep (resulting in your body not having time to recover and replenish itself), smoking and wearing nail varnish which can stop your nails breathing and stop it moisturising themselves but I don't have these problems myself.
My nails were slightly flaky at the time of using this treatment and it just caught my eye and I wondered if my 10 year nail issue may in fact be cured!
The pot comes attached to a cardboard box and in a nail varnish pot. The treatment inside is transparent but the pot it comes in is not, its mid blue colour with a gold lid. It has a short brief about how the treatment is designed to stop nail splitting and peeling in a very short space of time just by simply applying and wearing the potion daily.
OK, its not really so much a "potion" or "treatment", I am hyping the whole thing up more then is needed! When open and ready to use, it looks, smells and applies just like a clear nail varnish.
I applied one coat to each nail and left to dry. The brush was a little on the tin side for my liking, but not as thin as the Boots No.7 nail varnish brushes and in reality, I still only needed to drag the brush along each nail twice to three times to coat each nail as the product is quite dense but spreads very evenly across my nail.
I have to say it did dry very quickly, in about 5 minutes I was ready to go. The product set with a very very nice glossy transparent coat. Did not feel too heavy and looked really good. I would give this 10 out of 10 for application.
I wore this to the gym and was fine. I had no peeling of my nails after the shower- which is a usual worry time and was really thinking "this is it...this has saved my nails..." until... 3 days into wearing, my nails peeled. Gutted. Upset and annoyed that I had spent so much on something that had not done what it had said. I had no box, no receipt- I chucked it all so was not going to see if there was any sort of a product guarantee.
I did think about it though, that maybe my nails were just too weak and the part that would stop splitting and fraying would be the part at the beginning of my nail bed which would be growing with the treatment on it, rather then the ends of my nails which as far as I am aware, are already long dead. So I decided to wear the product for the next 1-2 months and really thought it would make a difference. I was/am just so sick of my fraying splitting nails that I was/am willing to do anything. So I kept applying the product, taking it off and re-applying when it had all worn off after 4 or 5 days every week (the product does wear thin and some times peel off after a few days).
I can now say, 2 months from buying the product, I can now no longer wear it. Why? Because my nails are now so badly fraying, splitting and peeling that its just gotten beyond a joke. I have not drastic changed what I am eating, and in fact cooled off the temperature of the water I wash my hair or have a shower in, but its still no good, and it also appears the problem is getting worse. Much worse. I am pretty sure its the "Miracle Cure" treatment that is making them worse which is not good. It means this product essentially does the opposite of what it is supposed to do.
I have since given up wearing it (two weeks ago now) and my nails continue to split. I am waiting for them to completely grow out now and get them back to their reduced splitting stage. But its hard as obviously where they are split they are that much weaker and as they continue to grow, they continue to split in the same places. However, some nails already seem better. But I just thought I should pre warn you should you be going through the same experience, the splitting wont stop straight away, it takes time for your nails go get back to their original state.
I guess its back to the drawing board, but Sally Hansen will not be my next port of call! What can I say, you live, you learn.
