Advantages: Very bitter taste adds as a good reminder

Disadvantages: If instructions are followed exactly then you will end up using a large amount of the product.

As a bearer of that appalling habit - nail biting - I felt it was time to do something to stop it. I ended up buying Sally Hansen Nail Biter. The small bottle contains enough liquid to last quite a long time and help you kick the habit. It also contains added nail protection.

The aim of the product is that you paint it on just like nail varnish, it then leaves a thick layer of nail varnish over the nail that has a very bitter flavour. This is to deter you from biting your nails every time you put your fingers anywhere near your mouth. You are supposed to remove the product every night and then reapply a fresh coat every morning. I found that if I did this I would bite my nails at night so I tended to leave it on over night, I then found that one coat would normally last three days so I saved in polish over all.

I found that this stuff did work and I have quite biting my nails, though I still need a reminder occasionally.

Summary: Worth trying
