Advantages: No scent and good results

Disadvantages: Won't last me long as brush dispenses too much product

This is a review of Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil which I purchased recently when out shopping with family. My normal bottle of oil (3 phase) had run out and you can only buy this online so this was a bit of a stop gap whilst I placed my order online and waited for delivery.

First impressions
I had never tried this particular brand of nail oil and I have tried a lot of them! I have found most give the results you want and it's just down to the packaging as to how long you can make a bottle last. I also knew the Sally Hansen brand to be generally good so was happy to give it a go.

What is it?
Nail oil is something that I use every day. I use it on bare nails, painted nails and gel or acrylic if I happen to wear those. It is a versatile and universal product that helps condition the nail, strengthen, and helps cuticles soften and generally improves the whole nail and nail bed and I am sure it makes my nails grow faster too. If they are a bit dried out, the nail helps them to feel less hard and liable to break.

Packaging
With the Sally Hansen nail oil, the packaging looks a bit old fashioned with a cardboard wrap and clear plastic front and the actual bottle glass with a gold top and a brush inside to sweep the product on to the nail. The actual neck of the bottle is wide so you do use a lot of product in one go, probably more than is necessary.

In use
The brush picks up plenty of oil which can be then brushed on to the nail and then massaged into the cuticle. I saw that the level of content went down after about six uses and I was surprised how fast it went down because the three phase brand I use has a roller ball and it is not noticeable when the product goes down so you definitely use more of the Sally Hansen in one go. I also use hand cream after the oil to care for the skin on my hands and fingers so that everything gets conditioned at the same time.

Price and availability
I picked up my bottle from B&M which is a discount store and the bottle was priced £1.99 which I think was a really good price. I have a suspicion that it was old stock though as it just looked a bit old fashioned on the packaging and I am sure I have used a more modern version of this by Sally Hansen which comes in a purple bottle but this version is still widely available out there and it is not in my opinion the sort of product which goes off quickly.

My thoughts
The best thing about the oil is the speed which it sinks in to the nail. After around a minute I could get back to normal duties, including getting dressed or touching material without the oil transferring. I also liked the fact that it has no odour whatsoever. For me the only down side is the amount used per application and this is a bit like using a dropper where you put too much on the nail!

Final word
For the price, this nail oil is excellent. I don't think my bottle will last long though and I do prefer the roller ball style oil to this one with a brush as it is less likely to leak or spill. If you knocked over this bottle you would lose loads of product from the wide neck of the bottle. I am pleased with the performance of the oil though and feel that my nails are stronger and longer due to using Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil.

Summary: Try it yourself!
