      A perfect eye shadow

As a little stocking filler at Christmas I was luckily given a lovely little single eye shadow from a brand I had not heard of or seen before, Shu Uemura.

      Shu Uemura

The Shu Uemura brand is both founded and named after a famous Japanese make-up artist, Mr. Shu Uemura, who was one of the first Asian makeup artists to gain fame in the West. He was discovered by a Hollywood production crew visiting the beauty school he was attending.

In 1983 the Shu Uemura Beauty Boutique was opened in omotesando, tokyo. What was special about the store was that it was the first of its kind to offer wide ranges of professional make-up colour in transparent packages, which is obviously a time saving factor for professionals. The Shu Uemura brand offers skincare, make-up, beauty stylists and make-up artists and their main focus and fame is for eye make-up and incredible eyelash designs.

      The Eye Shadow

The single eye shadow comes in an infamous Shu Uemura transparent plastic box, it is small and thin with approximate dimensions of 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm and 1 cm depth. The plastic is a really good quality and thickness which can take a lot of knocking about without showing signs of wear. The eye colour is in the centre of the square case and is a 2 x 2 cm square and about 0.5 cm depth. Underneath the eye colour is the shu uemura branding in plain black font. The case opens upwards and clips firmly back into place after use. On the back of the eye shadow is the label with the colour and some details.

The eye shadow as I mentioned was bought for me, but I couldn't have picked a nicer colour! It is called P Gold 350, which stands for 'pearl' effect eye shadow. The pressed eye shadows come in four different finishes; matte, pearl, iridescent and metallic! Which is a great choice of eye shadows to choose from. The pearl eye shadow is really light capturing which gives a multi-dimensional effect and it has a nice shimmery effect.

The gold is a very deep colour with some bronze pigments through it. It is really dense and almost a creamy consistency. The colour is VERY long lasting and intense. It is one of my favourite shades to wear out as it looks really glamorous and rich. The eye shadow apparently has silicone-coated powder which apparently allows for a non-fading result and I have to say it has the best staying power of any of my eye shadows.

      Pack Size - 2.1g/0.07oz

The Shu Uemura eye shadows can be purchased in Selfridges, Debenhams and House of Fraser, the cases and refills are sold separately so you can swap and change your colours when you finish with one and also buy larger palette sets and pick all of your own colours to go into it! Which is quite unique.

Cases start from £2.50 for a single and a refill eye shadow this size costs £11 but is a really good quality eye shadow and worth every penny in my opinion.
