I have real difficulty applying eye make up. You see, I have to wear pretty strong glasses just to be able to function day to day - to read a computer screen, for example, or even to find the ends of my shoelaces to tie them. So you can imagine that, when I take my glasses off to apply eye make up, everything becomes an impossible blur.

It doesn't stop me trying though - I flail around blindly with the brushes, then pop my glasses on to see the result- which is usually messy! Usually, I'd have to wash the whole lot off my eyes and start again, but thanks to the Simple Eye Make-Up Corrector Pen, I can now just tidy up around the edges if I need to without restarting the whole eye.

It's a white pen shaped container, with a lid that removed easily. Under the lid is a thin brush, narrowed in, much like the nib of a felt tip pen, which allows you to accurately dispense the cleansing solution contained in the barrel of the pen to the exact spot where it is needed. Before using it for the first time, you need to hold the pen upside down for a few seconds, gently squeezing, to get the cleanser flowing.

Naturally, with it being designed for use around the eyes, the cleansing solution is very gentle. Being as poor sighted as I am, I've poked myself in the eyeball a fair few times with it, and it hasn't been painful or irritating.
As with most Simple products, it is alcohol and fragrance free, but as a bonus is does contain pro-vitamin B5 which helps soothe, smooth, and soften the delicate skin around the eye area.

The brush of the pen, as well as dispensing the cleanser, also acts like a wipe for removing the dirt. The downside of this is of course that the brush does need cleaning itself regularly. Naturally, Simple recommend using their own Kind to Skin facial cleansing wipes ( though I'm sure any facial wipe would do) - which raises the question, why not just use the wipes to clean your eye make up off in the first place.
Well, for me the reason is Simple - I can get the pen behind my glasses to correct mistakes, enabling me to actually see what I am doing! This way, I only take off the messy bit, and not the bits that look fine ! This pen really does cleanse the messed up bits easily, even removing waterproof mascara. The narrow tip allows for a great level of accuracy, and makes it easier for me to achieve precision make up looks - I just smear it all over and take off the excess!

Would I recommend the pen ? Well, it costs £4.99, not factoring in the cost of the facial wipes to clean it. Personally I think it is a little expensive,especially if you use a whole wipe each time - I cut wipes into small squares and store them in a sealed pot, adding a couple of drops of water each time I open the pot to keep them moist. I think for most people, it would work out much more economical to simply use the wipes to remove the make-up in the first place .

However, the great advantage of the pen, for me at least, is that I can get it behind my glasses so that I can see what I am doing when I correct my eye makeup. The small size also makes it ideal for carrying in a handbag, so that if I make a mistake whilst topping up my mascara on a big night out, I can remove it easily.

A handy little handbag sized product, though it works out pricey when you include the facial wipes for cleaning the tip - 4 stars.
