“ Brand: Sleek / Pencil / Type: Eyebrow Pencil / Suitable for: Eyebrow „
I have quite thick eyebrows and get them threaded to keep them in the best shape possible. I fill them in whenever I'm going somewhere special such as a club or party as I think it looks really nice as it defines my brows and makes them look pretty much flawless. I don't draw my brows on or make them look bigger, I simply fill them in to define the shape of them. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyebrows and up until recently I'd been using a black brow pencil as I liked the contrast, but as big, thick dark brows are slowly fading out of fashion I've recently decided to tone it down a bit which is why I decided to buy the sleek eyebrow pencil in shade 191 which is a dark shade of chocolate brown.
A black version is also available and as far as I know these are the only two available shades. I bought this from Amazon and paid £1.60, which I think is incredibly cheap for a branded eyeliner, and as Sleek is a brand that I am familiar with I knew that I wasn't buying some cheap unbranded tat. The eyebrow pencil also available from a range of other online retailers and I think Superdrug sell Sleek products too so they will probably sell this. The RRP (taken from the official Sleek website) is £1.99, making this the ideal brow pencil for anyone who is on a budget or doesn't want to pay over the odds. Although this is marketed as an eyebrow pencil, I also use it as an eyeliner and it looks great - it's very pigmented and it's long lasting, so this is basically a two-in-one product; not bad for under £2.00!
The pencil is average in appearence; it's the same length and thickness as most eyeliners and it is dark brown. The sleek logo is written on the side, along with the product name and shade number. The nib is sharp and pointed making application that bit more accurate and the pencil comes with a lid which is handy as this protects the nib when it's in my make-up bag. The nib is waxy and very sturdy; it doesn't give way and blob up when pressed against my skin. I use this on my waterline and it's accurate enough to do a cat eye, although as I have this in brown I don't use it for this. The texture is lovely and creamy and the nib glides along my waterline; it doesn't drag at all and it gives a nice even finish.
This is easy to smudge and blend for a smoky eye due to the creamy texture, but it doesn't smudge unless you deliberately smudge it. This defines my eyes and as the colour is very intense it makes the colour of my iris' pop out and the whites of my eyes appear brighter. Using this as an eyebrow pencil is just as simple. I work my way over my brows from the outside to the inner edges and fill them in, making sure that I don't apply any pressure to the pencil. The difference is instantly noticeable and my eyebrows are a much more intense colour as well as more defined. I only fill in my brows when I wear heavy make-up eg on nights out as in my opinion it is a little too over the top for everyday wear.
The brow pencil is very long lasting and it needs to be removed with cleanser or face wipes. It is not waterproof, but I've never had issues with it melting off when I've been in a jam-packed, boiling hot club! Overall, highly recommended. Brilliant longevity, well pigmented and very cheap - 5/5.
I like spending my free time on you tube mainly watching make up video tutorials. One lady I like to follow uses a lot of afordable make up brands that can be bought on the high street. I recently bought a Sleek eyebrow pencil as recommended in the tutorial.
I bought the Sleek eyebrow pencil on sleeks own website www.sleekmakeup.com or you can buy it in some superdrug shops but not all. The eyebrow pencil I bought was the brown pencil to compliment my eye and hair colour, it cost £2.59.
The eyebrow pencil looks like every other eyebrow pencil, long and thin and resembles a pencil. The eyebrow pencil has a cream texture which makes it much more easy and acurite to use. A eyebrow pencil helps to shape, define and fill in eyebrows, it finishes of my make up perfect and makes my make up look flawless.
I never used to use a eyebrow pencil before but started using it when I noticed the difference it actually makes, before I felt my eyebrows got covered slightly when applying foundation and powder and now I like to finish with the brow pencil and it makes them stand out. Its also good for filling in any mistakes made by over plucking eyebrows which often happens with me.
The trick is to be very light handed when using the pencil and make fluent movements with the pencil. I chose the brown shade to be more natural but I will in time buy the black pencil and use it for nights out.
It does not smudge on my eyebrows as the creamy texture is very light on my brows. It also does not flake off either and lasts all day and night until I remove it with a baby wipe or with hot water. I found it easy to use and I am not a make up expert. I am very happy with the quality of the pencil and it was so cheap to buy. I'm now trying to build on my sleek make up collection as I have had brilliant results with the items I have bought so far.
I have no disadvantages at all, it works perfect and makes brows look good!
*Why I wanted this product*
Getting older I have come to realise your brows do drop out and don't grow back so I am left with sparse brows in the inner corner of my eyes that don't look attractive. I have found spending a few extra minutes doing your eye brows in the morning can make or break a look, if you take away your eye brows you can imagine you have floating balls (your eyes). No-body wants floating balls so creating that lovely brow in the morning makes all difference to your overall look.
Tidy, polished brows are said to give you a mini eye lift without a need of a knife or a surgeon in sight. Groomed eye brows make a huge difference to your face shape; look and helping you look perfectly polished even if you don't apply anything else.
I have never been an eyebrow pencil girl mostly because I could never find the right colour and more importantly they always looked very false with a hard line no matter how lightly I sweeped it over my brows, so I always stuck with eyebrow powder, which I recently broke.
Finding a shade for me in any brand is easy enough as my brows are very dark, I can get away with dark brown or a black colour applied with a light hand.
*About Sleek Eye Brow Pencil*
Sleek say their eye brow pencil is a creamy formula that is used to fill in sparse hairs, gives you more definition, without smudging or flaking. This pencil only comes in two shades, black or brown.
Sleek Eye Brow Pencil is what you would expect of a pencil, depending on which colour you went for the outer packaging is the same colour. The Sleek name is located at the bottom of the pencil; the pencil is also protected with a shiny black pull off lid.
The pencil does look very simple in design, but it is a pencil.
*Applying the product*
I found applying this product to my eye brows straight from the pencil didn't give me a nice natural look I was hoping for, however the shade black was perfect for me and blended in nicely with my dark brows. The pencil I found gave me a harsh unnatural look no matter how lightly I applied, although the pencil is very creamy it seems to glide on like a wax texture that clings onto the hairs and made it hard to blend and to get the right amount on to look natural.
Not wanting to let the pencil get the better of me I decided to take a different direction and use a stiff brush instead to apply it. Before hand I kept my brows in place with clear mascara and let it dry so I had my desired shape but it just needed filling in. Taking the stiff brush and rubbing on the tip of the pencil meant I got a nice amount of product on my brush but not so much that it looks harsh when applied. With light sweeping motions starting from the inside out meant I could control where I wanted more product and how much force was needed. The product doesn't seem to cling onto the hairs as much as applying it straight from the nib but sticks to the spares skin as well as the brows and doesn't feel waxy but creamier now.
Once I had finished this way my brows look more natural, and look similar to applying a powder, I never get any harsh look and no one knows I have applied a pencil.
I have applied this product with a stiff brow brush now for a few weeks and have hardly made a dent in the pencil as you need such little product to create the right effect and the nib stays sharp for a week works of applications.
The product doesn't fall or flake off through the day and actually stays put all day unlike my powder did, which needed re-applying. It saves me time when I apply it than applying a powder.
It is easy to travel with and when dropped it doesn't smash into a million little pieces unlike my powder did.

*Would I purchase again*
For the price I think it is fantastic, it saves me time in the morning as it is so quick and easy to apply and more importantly it looks natural, what more could a girl want?
