Up until recently I had never tried anything from the Sleek brand, but I ended up buying a couple of their blushes and a lipstick.
~ Packaging ~
I love Sleek’s packaging. The lipstick comes in a small black card box and inside is an oval shaped lipstick made from matte black plastic. I love the matte black. The front of the lid has, ‘Sleek make up’ in shiny lettering, which you can only see when it is held to the light.
The first thing I noticed about the lipstick is that the tube seems shorter than your average lipstick by about 1.5cm, but you still get plenty of product. The lipstick weighs 3.5g. This is pretty average compared to MAC’s 3g and Rimmel’s Kate Moss lipstick, which is 4g.
~ Price and Availability ~
This lipstick costs just £4.99 and is available from Superdrug or Boots. You can buy it online at boots.com, but I have never noticed a Sleek counter even in their larger stores.
I think this is a reasonable price.
On superdrug.com there is currently a 3 for 2 offer across cosmetics.
~ In Use ~
I bought this lipstick in the shade Vixen, which is a bright red colour.
The flat, angled edge of the lipstick goes up to a point. The area of the angled edge seems smaller than your average lipstick as it is quite narrow and elongated, rather than being rounded towards the bottom. I still find that it is very easy to apply.
As I said the colour I bought is a bright red colour and the colour pay off is excellent. It also has a slight sheen to it. It is a nice sheen and doesn’t look too shiny.
The lipstick is not drying at all. The box says that it contains vitamin E, which helps to hydrate your lips.
It does not feel sticky on my lips and I am not constantly aware of it on my lips like I have been with some lipsticks.
I have found the lipstick doesn’t bleed into my skin and it still looks vibrant after a few hours of wear. I always take this lipstick with me when I am wearing it as it does need to be topped up or reapplied if you have been eating or drinking.
It looks and feels like it is a good quality lipstick.
When it comes to removing the lipstick I tend to use a wet wipe and it is fairly easy to remove. A firm swipe will get most of it off then anything that is left behind can be easily cleaned up with a bit more attention.
I think this lipstick is great. The angled edge allows for a precise application and the colour pay off is great. I also like the sheen the lipstick has and it makes my lips feel soft and moisturised. The colour lasts well and the lipstick is a smaller size so it is a handy size for your bag or pocket. The lid clicks on and off firmly so you don’t have to worry about the lid coming off in your bag and the lipstick getting damaged. It is also very reasonably priced.
I would recommend this lipstick and would definitely buy it again. I am keen to try out some of their other colours.
I recently have started to get into loving lipsticks but so far have always played it pretty safe with neutral glossy pinks/red colours which do look nice but don’t pack that much “oomph”! I’ve always wanted to try a dark purple colour lipstick and wanting to be brave on the weekend I headed into Superdrug to see what they had to offer me! I really like the Sleek range so I purchased one of theirs and wore it out on Saturday night and I haven’t felt so daring and bold in ages!
I bought the mulberry colour Lipstick for a cheap and cheerful price of £4.99. It comes in a cute shiny black casing which I was a teeny bit disappointed as its miles smaller than any of my other lipsticks. It's very petite in more of an oval shaped casing with a flat lid and bottom. However, with this small size it can easily fit in a pocket, or a minimal clutch bag whilst still looking really elegant.
The lipstick is a little bit of a moisturizing lipstick and so is ideal for me as a person who isn’t that much of a pro at applying make up to any extent. As it is quite a dark colour I found it easiest to apply with a lip liner to keep it in tact and to get a good coverage it did require a few layers so it would look nice and even on my lips.
The shape of the lipstick is slightly pointed but with a flat end so as to make it easy to apply. I also find this lipstick does not have that awful synthetic smell I tend to come across in most lipsticks which is good!
The dark purple came through as a really nice, rich colour (thank goodness as on first application I was worried it would look black but it grew on me eventually!) so it looks fabulous as a gorgeous vampy colour for a really bargain price!
I do have quite big lips, (in my opinion) but I am trying to embrace them so thought I’d like the boldness and to be honest I got loads of compliments from it so I felt very proud! It isn't overly sticky so as to leave me with the ugly, white residue in the corners of my mouth or the rim of my lips nor does it make my lips stick together when I am talking!
The lipstick has ok staying power, and overall I really love this new lipstick, and I am now eager for another night out so I can wear it again! Much cheaper than some of the other brands I own and it looks just as fabulous so I have to give it 5 stars!
Sleek lipsticks are packaged in cute little black boxes which gives that high end feel. I love the way the lipstick itself are packaged, I like the fact that it is plain black, it creates a sort of sophisticated feeling. I purchased a sleek lipstick in the colour mystic. I adore the colour, it is vibrant and bright and exactly what I was looking for. I've been looking for a purple, affordable lipstick and this is by far one of the best ones I have purchased. It is long lasting, I literally don't have to top it up every hour which I usually find with the majority of lipsticks I own. The overall finish is a matte look which I think is flattering, however it does cling to dry skin so I would recommend exfoliating ops before applying. It is quite a dry texture, but nothing a lip gloss can't fix - by adding gloss it gives your lips a high shine finish. Overall I would definitely recommend sleek lipsticks. High quality, affordable lipstick!
When it comes to what make up I use, of late I have become a bit of a stickler. I tend to use mostly Max Factor, Dainty Doll By Nicola Roberts and then for eye make up I like the Sleek eye palettes (particularly for evening wear). Rarely now at 39 do I deviate from those brands simply because I like the quality of them and know what suits me best.
However I do have to be careful not get stuck in a rut so occasionally I do break out. Due to owning masses of make up though recently I have tried to have a huge run down of what I own so I had the excuse of updating my collection.
With going out a fair bit lately due to dating I decided it was high time to get a couple of new lipsticks. I did look at what my usual brands had to offer mainly on Amazon really and nothing stuck out so whilst I was in Boots a couple of weeks back I browsed their make up stands and took a look at this brand mainly due to my love of their eye make up. At £4.99 per lipstick I didn't think that was a very high price tag and so treated myself and the colour option that I chose was 'Heartbreaker' which is a very rich and a fairly bright fuchsia colour....a bit different for me as I usually go very dark reds and purple shades but this I had in mind for a softer and more subtle look.
The tube this comes in is black plastic and to use the lipstick you simply twist it as you would most lipsticks in a tube and it has a lid that securely fits over the colour and pulls off easily enough. On the base of it we are told what it is and who it is by. Its a simple to look at lipstick and looks high quality and feels it too.
The Lipstick Itself:
You can of course apply this straight from the tube, with a brush, using a lip liner....really any way you want to. Personally I just apply this straight from the tube cos I'm lazy! This goes on smoothly and quite thickly. It doesn't have a scent to it and doesn't feel sticky and it kind of dries into the lips. The colour is highly pigmented and is a great shade of pink and once applied I find I get about 3 hours wear from it before it simply fades off. I can eat and drink with this on well enough but then I do apply, blot, reapply and blot it to get the colour to sink into my lips and to try to get it to stay in place but I do find with kissing too much it does come off but again in a fading way opposed to me and my fella getting covered in it!
I think this is a great quality and not sheer lipstick and I'm so pleased with it I will be repurchasing more of them and with 21 colours in the range its not like I'm going to get bored anytime soon!
Thumbs up from me, I love my lippy!
Available from Boots stores and Google if interested for a list of stockists!

I have been trying to buy this is the shade Frenzy for a very long time, after it selling out online and then not being able to find it anywhere I decided to buy this in shade Mystic instead. Here were my thoughts.
This comes in a small black box with the name if the colours on there and swabs if the lipstick colour. There is the slick logo on here on the top and sides. Inside the box there is the lipstick on a oval shaped tube, this is matte black with the sleek name in gloss on the lid there is also a sticker with the colour on there too.
This packaging looks very classic and is also of great quality this makes it look much more expensive than it is, which is always good.
The colour here is gorgeous it is a really bright purple and it slides so easily on the lips. The lipstick isn't as thick as others I have tried and so I don't go over my lip line. This is buyer moisturising and goes onto the lips very easily, and this does not show any of the dryness. The colour is very easy to build but just one layer is really enough to create a full lip look. I have recently lost my lipcote and have yet to repurchase it therefore I have had to use this without any topcoat. The big surprise here is that it lasts all day without being reapplied and I can actually eat meals and drink with this on.
I am very impressed with this.
Price and Availability
This can be bought from Superdrug stores and also the Sleek online store this is also available at a number of other places. It retails for just £4.99 which for this packaging and amazing lipstick is great value. I will be buying. More colours.
I love lipstick for its transformative qualities - one slick of lipstick can change an outfit and sometimes change the attitude of the wearer. Elizabeth Taylors famous quote "Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together" illustrates the sobering and enlivening power that lipstick has!
In the past I have tended to be a little bit of a lipstick snob and I tended to go for higher end lipsticks such as Dior, Chanel and the beauty junkies favourite MAC. However, the high street seems to have woken up and have come out with some comparable if not surpassble lipstick formulas and colours. As I am always on the lookout for great, one off colours to add to my collection it was with joy that I came across the Sleek range of make- up in Superdrug at the start of the year.
I had never heard of Sleek and as I am seldom in Superdrug (I live in Boots if you read any of my other reviews) I had never come across them before. They are known for their make-up palettes - blush, eye shadow, bronzers, contouring, eye brow sets - they are all about the palettes! It is also a relatively affordable range and comes in plain black minimalist packaging. The lipsticks in particular caught my eye and I picked up Cherry and Fuchsia.
Cherry - a deep wine red which is a great berry winter lip in the winter or works well as a wash for lighter Summer nights.
Fuchsia - A mid tone pink which tends towards the blue side - would look great worn with a matte base and minimal eye make-up.
As I have outlined the colours themselves are vivid and opaque although you can use them as a wash by mixing the with a lip balm. Both the colours I bought make for a great statement lip and Sleeks colour range in general is bold - expect lots of blazing reds and deep pinks!
The formula of the lipsticks is lovely and moisturising and they are very forgiving on the lips. They also have great staying power lasting around 4 - 5 hours on me. I was really impressed with the quality of the lipsticks and in fact they have made me abandon my higher end lipsticks in favour of these!
I highly recommend this line of lipsticks and I shall definitely be purchasing more. The lipsticks retail at £4.99 which for a lipstick which in my eyes is comparable to MAC or any high end lipstick is a great deal!
