A great mascara for perfect colour and length, plus it feeds lashes

      The claim
      - - - - - - - -

Smashbox say that their latest mascara LASH DNA has been "scientifically-engineered" [sounds like what they do to cars] and packed full with proteins and amino acids that will "bind to lashes for genetic defying length and strength".

      The formula
      - - - - - - - - - -

One coat of LASH DNA is all I really need for noticeably longer, beautifully separated, evenly coated, non-clumpy lashes. Because of the perfect separation my eyes look much more alert. Plus, it holds my curl all day.

I prefer to use two coats, as it slightly improves my lash volume (It doesn't claim to give volume, so I can't complain that the increase is only slight). The colour is a true black - rich and glossy. It also dries quickly, handy if you prefer multiple coats.

I can apply my make-up at 7:30 in the morning and come 11 at night the mascara still looks freshly applied, with no flaking.

      The brush
      - - - - - - - - -

I love the double-helix shaped brush. It can take a few uses to become used to it, because it's BIG. Seriously; it's got the biggest brush I've ever used. And I'm a mascara whore, so that's saying something.

The shape and size of the brush gets the formula right to the lash roots and separates, fans and curls lashes, right from the roots to the tips, so my eyes really pop.

      Long term results
      - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've now been using LASH DNA on and off for a year* and can say that my naked lashes do look glossy and I have not noticed any shedding at all, so the formula has indeed improved my lashes and made them stronger.

      * Yes, I know you're meant to throw away opened mascara after 3 months, but £18 a tube? Not happening.

      Final verdict
      - - - - - - - - - -

Up until now I've been using it sparingly, so I don't finish my tube, but I think that I'll bite the bullet and treat myself to a new tube. Yes it's pricey, but it does provide long term benefits to my lashes, as well as being an ad-true mascara.
