I've been really good in the run up to Christmas and tried my hardest to save money in order to buy lots of Christmas presents for my friends and family. I did have one minor setback when I visited The Trafford Centre two weeks ago when I "accidentally" bought myself a few early Christmas presents, but in my defence it was so very busy there I needed some sort of reward for battling through the crowds without committing GBH on someone! I had a minor splurge on Soap and Glory in Boots, it was on three for two and that was one offer I couldn't quite resist!
I bought two product sets for my friends and decided, as it was technically free, the third set could be a little present for myself. I selected the Soap and Glory Glow Biz set which basically consists of a fairly solid make up case and three Soap and Glory products. The make up case itself could withstand a lot of battering and opens with a clasp on one of its sides. I've since found I can fit pretty much all my make up into it so it's a great little accessory to have. It's pink in colour and is covered with graffiti type pictures and writing, the standard trademark of Soap and Glory.
The first product I tested was Glow Getter which is a face and body sun powder spray. You get 100ml of this product which is the standard size should you buy this product individually and it's priced at £10.25 as a stand along product. It comes in quite a striking black bottle that looks really professional with golden lettering on it. It's basically a powder spray that is rub resistant, meaning it won't rub off or streak easily, and it gives you a golden tan. The spray is very lightly golden in colour with no glitter and it has a lovely smell, really floral with hints of bubblegum.
I didn't really have that high hopes for this product after being a fake tan addict and thinking I'd found the best of the best already. However I was shortly proved wrong after discovering it was really easy to use, simply spray it evenly over your body while holding it at arms length and gently rub it in. The colour is pretty much instant meaning you can see any areas you've missed and the colour is a really natural yet deep golden brown, it makes me look as though I've spent a week in the sunshine. There wasn't any glitter or shimmer in sight which I often think makes it look cheap.
The colour lasted all day and didn't go streaky at any point, it was really easy to remove as it just washed off which also means that if you make a mistake when you're applying it you can just wash it off and start again. The lovely fragrance lasted on my skin during the day and I was really impressed, I'd definitely recommend this brilliant product and would give it the full five stars! The only downside is that it probably wouldn't make a massive difference if you're already quite dark skinned or tanned, my friend tried it and the effect wasn't really noticeable on her at all.
The second product I tested was the Glow Lotion which is a moisturising shimmer lotion. You get 150ml of this product which is the standard size should you buy this product individually and it's priced at £5.00 as a stand alone product. It comes in a shimmery pink bottle that has a clear plastic lid which reveals a plastic spray pump. The bottle is attractively decorated with black writing and silver stars on it. The lotion is a pearl colour and has a lovely fragrant smell, very fresh and sweet, similar to many of the other Soap and Glory products that I've tried really.
The lotion is fairly runny and quite thin which means you only need a small amount to cover a larger area. It is absorbed really easily and the lovely light fragrance stays on your skin, it's not overpowering at all but is noticeable. It leaves my skin feeling soft and with an obvious shimmer to it, especially in the light. It's ideal for emphasising certain areas and looks great on a night out, it just gives your skin a healthy glow and a light shimmer - it's not full of glitter and really doesn't look cheap at all. It glows beautifully and is really easy to wash off as well in the bath or shower.
The third product I tested was Solar Powder which is a multi-shade bronzer compact powder. You get 9g of this product which is the standard size should you buy this product individually and it's priced at £12.50 as a stand along product. It comes in a black compact which flips open and has a mirror in the upper half. The compact powder is split in half; one half is a lighter brown while the other half is a darker brown. It also has the initials S and G imprinted in the centre of it in a shimmery pearl colour so when you dab your brush on it you get a mixture of all three colours.
It's really easy to apply the product, I simply dust my bronzer brush over the compact and then apply it to my face, dusting lightly over all my face to give it a healthy golden glow and adding a little extra onto my cheek bones for extra definition. The colour is lovely and really natural; it gives me a golden glow that doesn't make my face look orange at all. The product does actually come with a brush but I prefer my bigger bronzer brush as it provides a more even coverage. There is no glitter or shimmer and the colour is perfect for all skin tones, a brilliant product.
In case you can't tell already I am fully recommending this product, the three products would cost £27.75 to buy individually so you're already making a saving of over £7 by buying the set and you do get the make up case included in that price too. I really like all three products in this set, sometimes it is a gamble buying something like this as I often find there's always at least one product I'm not overly keen on but not in this set. This set has now gone into the sale at Boots stores and is currently half price so for £10 you really can't go wrong, I've bought another one!
