“ Brand: Soap & Glory / Type: Blushers / Subcategory: Soap „
I'm not much of a makeup wearer, but when I saw Soap and Glory 'Cheekmate' which is a lip and cheek stain, I thought I would give it a go as I thought I would prefer a stain to lipstick or gloss and blusher.
I don't like lipstick because I think it's messy and comes off easily and I hate seeing it on a glass, I also think lip gloss is awful as it's normally really sticky and messy too. Anyway, this lip stain appealed to me as I thought it might add some colour but not come off.
Cheekmate comes in the usual quirky style Soap & Glory packaging, the tube is displayed in a pink and gold box and advertises on the front that it contains 'vitamin c, kiwi, and raspberry' as well as 'Blushboost technology'. Cheekmate comes in a little 11ml tube, and when I bought it I thought it looked like it wouldn't last long, and I also thought the colour looked too bright. However, both of these things weren't an issue.
The instructions say 'squeeze a smidge of cheekmate onto your index finger, then rub around in circles on the applies of your cheeks until you're sporting a gorgeous rosy glow (then dab whatever's left onto your lips'. I did this, and it really was just a 'smidge' that I needed, I reckon the tube will last ages given the amount that I use each time. The texture isn't too runny, almost like a gel, and it's really easy to apply. The only thing is it would be better if you didn't have to use your finger as it does turn the finger red also.
Although the colour looked far too intense (it is a pinkish/red colour) by the time I rubbed it in it was a perfect colour just to give a rosy glow and add a bit of colour to my lips without looking like I was really wearing any makeup.
It also lasts all evening without coming off, and when it does disappear eventually it just kind of fades rather than rubbing off on things such as glasses, it kind of temporarily 'dyes' the skin.
I bought Cheekmate from Boots for £8 which I think it well worht the money as it's a product I am using every day and I think it will last absolutely ages.
A friend for your cheeks.
A few years ago I received a free sample of cheek stain from Benefit and ever since then I switched from blusher powder to cheek stain as I loved the look I could achieve with it which I think is way more natural than any powder I had tried.
Recently in Boots they were offering a free tube of Cheekmate from Soap and Glory cosmetics when you bought two other Soap and Glory Products. Well, I jumped at the chance because it is not very hard to find two other Soap and Glory products that I like and to get a free product is always something I like. If you were to buy this product new it would cost £8.99 I believe so it was definitely a very good free gift.
This cheek stain is described as, "A refreshing gel stain with BLUSHBOOTTM technology to enhance circulation in the capillaries of the skin. Plus raspberry seed, kiwi extract & vitamin C to moistuize & condition." The liquid comes in a little tube and all you have to do is, as Soap and Glory say, "squeeze a smidge of cheekmate onto your index finger, then rub around in circles on the apples of your cheeks until your sporting a gorgeous rosy glow. (then dab whatever's left onto your lips)." I must admit that I prefer to do little dabs of this on the cheek with the tube and then I rub it in with my finger tips.
The colour of this cheek stain is described as a rosy glow and for my cheeks it definitely gives them a very natural rosy, English rose glow. Its funny because the liquid looks quite dark in the tube and when you apply it but then once it is rubbed in it looks very natural. One word of warning though, you do need to rub it in fairly quickly after you have applied it to your cheeks otherwise it does stain and doesn't blend in as easily as it could.
It's actually a cheek and lip stain but I don't like it as much on my lips as I do on my cheek so I just use it on my cheeks. I find when I applied it to my lips it did work well and really penetrated them and so did what it was supposed to do but I found the colour too bright and stained for my liking and I didn't like the fact that I couldn't just rub it off, I had to wear for it to wear off so other people may like it, I did not.
For my cheeks though, it was another matter, I love the way this cheek stain makes my cheeks look. All in all another great make up product from Soap and Glory.
Sexy red lips? Yes please!!
This is beautful. So this proudct is a lip and check stain.. I only use it on my lips and LOVE it so much. You only need a little bit and I mean a little bit no more than 'o' <-- that size and it goes far. It looks great on the lips and makes they look sexy and beautiful. It lasts forr ages and really does stain the lips.
The product is lovely and small so can fit into a make up bag without taking up to much room. The packaging is neat and tidy.
The proudct is great value for money and is very cheap acually for waht you get.
I haven't used it as a cheack stain but my friend did using mine and it looked fab again you didnt need a lot at all and looked beautiful and very natural.
I will be buying thie prodcut again when i run out
Soap & Glory Cheekmate Rosy Rub-on Cheek and Lip Stain
I have had this product for about two month now, so I thought it was time to write a few of this product. This product is part of Soap and Glory's new cosmetic range which I believe was released in November 2011. This is the third and final product that I own for this range and it was free, as the soap and glory cosmetics were on a three for the price of two offer at boots.
- About the product and packaging
Soap and Glory's packaging in my opinion is fantastic and the packaging for this product is no exception. The packaging contains a mix of pink, gold, black and white and it looks really retro/rockabilly. The packaging contains information on how to use the product and it also contains a full ingredient list. The product itself contains 11ml or 1.37 us fl oz of cheek/lip stain and it does contain some natural ingredients such as kiwi fruit juice, ginseng root extract and raspberry seed (although I don't see this on the ingredient list). This product is dermatologically tested and Soap and Glory do not test their products on animals.

- How to use the product
On the box it suggests how to use this products and it is as follows: "squeeze a smidge of cheekmate onto your index finger, then rub around in circles on the apples of your cheeks until your sporting a gorgeous rosy glow. (then dab whatever's left onto your lips)." I have only used this product a couple of times on my cheeks as firstly I bought it to use it as a lip tint and secondly, my skin is reddish anyway due to eczema. To use as a cheek tint I just get a small amount on my finger tip and apply it to the apples of my cheeks but only a very small amount. I then take more on my finger and apply it to my lips.
- My experience of using this product: cheek and lip stain and results
The application of this product is great as it is really quite easy to blend which I actually didn't think it would be as it is a stain but it applies very smoothly and evenly - although you have to be really quick at applying this product to your skin as it does 'set' and become difficult to blend after a maximum of ten seconds or so. As a cheek stain/tint this product is really good in terms of application, blending and having a natural, flushed appearance but on me this product just makes my skin look really red, irritated and it just looks like my redness caused by eczema, which I obviously do not like. The application is great and the texture of this product is really nice too, it has an incredibly smooth texture that makes applying this product easier. Another great thing about this product is that is does give a really natural flushed colour to the skin but as I said on me it just look like my skin is irritated, therefore I hardly ever use this as a cheek stain. This product does last on my skin for ages though. Overall, I would rate this product as a cheek stain at 2/5 just because it makes my skin look irritated and my skin is a bit red naturally anyway.
As a lip tint it looks really nice, in my opinion, as it is a great colour and it makes my lips look like I have been eating raspberries. The application of this product to my lips is not as nice as when I apply this product to my cheeks. As when this is applied to my lips it tends to stick to the drier areas of my lips, it does not makes my lips looks flakey or dry at all but the colour just clings to the drier areas making my lips looks a little bit patchy - with some areas being redder than others. The application is ok and it is again made easier by the really smooth texture of the stain. The end colour after it has been blended, which does not take very long at all, is really nice and natural looking. Although the 'stain' does not last long at all on my lips, especially if I eat/drink while I have this on my lips. This stain lasts for about two hours maximum on my lips, which is really quite disappointing as I bought this to use as a long wearing lip product - as it does state that it is a lip stain, therefore I thought it would last for a while on my lips, which is doesn't. This product does wear off quickly but it wears off well on my lips - it does not leave my lips looking patchy and this product does make my lips feel really smooth too. Also this product does not have a scent/taste and if you lick your lips before this has dried you get a horrible thick, plastic taste. Overall, I would rate this product as a lip stain at 3/5, which is me being a little bit generous.
Overall, I love the packaging is gorgeous, as all soap and glory packaging is in my opinion, it is small and light weight so it would be good for traveling (although you will have to have some wipes with you as it will stain your finger tips). The colour looks really natural on my skin and lips which is great and the product applies really well to my skin - although it does not apply too well to my lips. The longevity of this product on my skin is great but on my lips this stain only last for a maximum of about two hours. The cheek stain overall is really nice and I think a lot of people will like this but I don't as my skin is red anyway and it just makes my skin look irritated. The lip stain overall is ok but the longevity is really poor especially for a stain and the product does not apply evenly to my lips. In summary, I am really quite disappointed by this product but I think a lot of people may like this product as a cheek stain/blush.
- Price and availability
I bought this product from a large boots store a few months ago and the soap and glory cosmetics range was on a three for the price of two offer so this product was free for me. But it is usually priced at £8, which I think is a little bit expensive as in my opinion it is not a fantastic product and I don't think this one tube will last me very long as I have not used it loads and quite a bit has gone from the tube already. As far as I am aware this product can only be bought from boots stores and boots online.
*Really nice, retro packaging and some natural ingredients
*Due to the thin nozzle you can really control how much product you want to dispense
*Does give my cheeks and lips a nice, berry red stain but on my lips it only for about 2 hours and on my cheeks it makes my skin look red and irritated
*The stain only lasts for a maximum of about two hours on my lips (and I am being a bit generous here)
*The product when it isn't on offer is a little bit expensive in my opinion, especially as the stain only lasts for a very short amount of time on me, it wasn't really worth the money for me personally
*The stain does not stain my lips evenly, it tends to be stronger on the slightly dryer parts of my lips
*Stains my finger - and the stain on my finger after blending the lip stain into my lips stays on for so much longer than the stain on my lips
Thank you for reading my review
My latest "blip" in terms of buying what my boyfriend classes as "unnecessary items" was purely the fault of Boots, and came in the form of a bag of Soap and Glory goodies. I did try to explain to him that as there was a three for two offer on it wasn't really a frivolous spend, but more of an economically aware spend (heavens knows why I got these words from) as it was on offer and I was therefore getting somewhat of a bargain. One of the products I purchased was the Soap and Glory Cheekmate Rosy Glow which is a product I've never seen before in their range.
The product comes in a plastic tube, a little like a lip balm or a lip gloss might, with a black screw on lid at one end. The word "Cheekmate" is emblazoned on the front along with a small Soap and Glory logo. The product is dispensed through a narrow plastic point which ensures that only a limited amount is released at any one time. In terms of what the product actually is well it's a thick type liquid, a bit like the same consistency as a lip gloss, that can be used to give a rosy glow to cheeks and lips - a bit like a blusher or a lip stick but a liquid format really.
The product is dispensed easily enough and it looks like fake blood on my finger, it's got that same colour and consistency too! Once on my finger I tend to rub it gently into my cheeks, focusing on the cheek bones first to highlight them. I tend to use a cotton bud with my lips. You do need to be quite quick as it seems to set quite quickly once it comes into contact with the skin and once it's set you can't budge it at all! It's not sticky and it's not thick either which is what I was originally worried about, and it goes onto my skin and soaks in really easily.
The overall effect is a very rosy glow, the fake blood colour fades somewhat as it's rubbed in but the colour is still quite pinky red really. My mum complimented me on my new blusher when I first wore this and said the colour looked very natural so I'm happy with that! The only downside that I've found it that it is slightly drying on my lips but I personally prefer to use it as a cheek tint rather than a lip tint as I feel this looks best. The product is, in my opinion, undoubtedly modelled on Benefit's famous Benetint product that I've also owned in the past.
So what sets this product apart from other blushers and lip tints out there... well the packaging states that the Cheekmate Rosy Glow contains Blush Boost Technology which is advertised as a micro boosting ingredient which is known to enhance the circulation in the skin and increase the supply of nutrients to the skin cells as well. In simple terms it should increase the flow of nutrients to your skin but, to be honest, I was more bothered about what it looked like on my face. It also contains raspberry seed extract, kiwi extract and vitamin C as well.
This product is currently on sale for £8.00 at Boots and for that you'll get a 11ml tube of the Cheekmate Rosy Glow. Unfortunately it's only available in one shade at present, but saying that this does seem to suit everyone... well both my friend and mum have tried my tube and the colour has suited them well. I've had my tube for over a month now and have hardly used any of it despite applying it to my cheeks most days, I've got no doubt that this will last me at least three to four months with daily usage so it's great value as well! Four stars from me!
Thanks for reading!
