Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss
Advantages: Plumps Lips, Smells Yum, Relatively Cheap, Nice Packaging, Love The Name
Disadvantages: A Bit Sticky, A Bit Stingy - Takes Some Getting Used To
When on one of my regular wanders through Boots I noticed a range of products which hadn't come to my attention before. Soap and Glory has completely unique and eye catching packaging which was one of the reasons that I was attracted to their products in the first place.
They have a really vintage look to their products like something from the eighties. A lot of their products are packaged with pink, girly colours and then there are a lot of black and white photographs or other details on them. They also give really great names to their products which was why I decided to opt for the "Sexy Mother Pucker" lip gloss.
I decided that even if the product didn't meet its claims to "volumise lips by up to x10" it would still be a cute product to contain in my make up bag and I must admit it made me laugh every time I read the name of it. At £8 it was cheaper than my usually lip gloss (Benefit The Gloss) and it wasn't exactly going to break the bank.
When I got out of Boots I decided not to wait and jut to give the gloss a try because I was curious as to whether it would really work and not only that I wanted to see if my friends would be able to notice a difference.
When you apply the gloss you feel the strangest tingling sensation on your lips, a bit like tiny pin pricks. At first this was a really horrible feeling but after a while you do get used to it and it starts to be quite addictive to apply the product just for the strange tingling sensation that you experience.
I couldn't really tell myself whether there had been the desired effect on my lips since I didn't have a mirror but I was hoping that this odd stinging feeling wasn't going to be a completely pointless experience! So instead I decided that I would ask my friends what they thought of the results.
I have to admit their reaction was no quite what I was expecting. My friend looked at me and then her face became deadly serious. "Colleen I am not joking you look like someone has punched you in the lips, you're lips are completely huge." So obviously this worried me a great deal and I began to panic and ask for a mirror. They continued the joke for quite some time about how terrible it looked and about how I better wipe it off quickly or do something to attempt to fix it. When they eventually gave me a mirror they all just laughed and decided to share with me the fact that my lips actually didn't look deformed in any way.
I must say it was a relief when I looked in the mirror and the results weren't ridiculous like I had feared thanks to my trustworthy friends. In fact I thought that my lips did look fully and certainly sexier. And they must have agreed because just afterwards they were asking to borrow it and give it a try.
The colour I purchased was clear and that suited me at the time because I was going through a not too experimental stage make up wise. However after the clear colour was a success I went out and purchased nude too. I find this nice when I am going out because it looks a bit more natural than clear gloss so permits me to wear more make up without looking over done.
I use both of the tubes quite often and I still have plenty left in them. I would say that they are a rather long term investment because they last ages and they do not need too much re application which is always good.
I would say however that they can be slightly sticky which some people might not like, I myself don't mind too much about this but there are times when I feel as though I would prefer a glossier lip gloss, and when I do then this isn't usually the one that I go for.
It does however have a really nice smell of chocolate which you can sort of taste (you know when its not really in your mouth or anything but you can still taste it) and that is another thing that is good when you are using it.
I would recommend this product to people who want to add a bit of volume to their lips (but don't want to go for the drastic botox look) and for those who like cute girly products in their make up bags I would say this is an essential. It's relatively cheap and I would say that it works for me so you might as well give it a go. I just hope that your friends aren't as "hilarious" as mine and they give you a truthful account of the results!
Summary: Try it for a quick bee sting to the lips!
