Advantages: Bright, fun and cheap
Disadvantages: not for the fainthearted!!!
Before i start this review, i feel the need to give you a heads up. I am a dirty little grunger. I love anything outlandish and loud, and i do tend to make myself look as eye catching as possible. ;) I must ask you to keep this in mind when pondering whether or not to invest in some Stargazer pressed powder. These are louder than an loud man, with a neon hat and a megaphone, standing on a massive tower of 70s sweatsuits. They are certainly not for the fainthearted and are guarenteed to make a statement!
Now we have that out the way, let me tell you a little bit about these Stargazer florescent pressed powders... :)
The packaging
~~~~~~~~~~
Honestly, the packing is very simple and clean. Black thick plastic compact with a clear front so you can see the colour of the pressed powder through. The cover is hinged with a strong solid clip to prevent any broken powder to new bag catastrophes, as well as having a rippled and raised edge. The traditional black stargazer logo is printed across the cover.
You get a good amount of product with this eyeshadow, with a weight of 3.5g. For those with allergies, the ingredients is listed across the back of the compact. I don't think its a magic idea to list it here, but if anyone wants me to email it i would be happy to.
the eyeshadow
~~~~~~~~~~
Currently, i have the sea blue and rose pink colours. These are fantastic and very bright neon shade. According to the stargazer website, they also have the shades;
- forest (neon green)
- Lemon yellow (neon yellow)
- Orange (can you guess it?! neon orange)
- Rouge (neon red)
The colours are amazing, and certainly a change from the norm. The UV shades are eyecatching and fantastic, and very easy to apply. Within the compact no brush is supplied, but the thick powder makes it fairly easily to apply with a finger, or invest in a set of brushes. However, the colour can be a little clumpy, and does tend to crinkle after a few hours if applied too thick.
However, the colours last brilliantly, sometimes a little too good! You need a good strong make up remover to get these to come off after, especially with the rose pink which tends to stain a little if not removed properly.
You get a good amount of powder with these, and i have had mine over 6 months and still have plenty left. Although the worst thing with these is that thy always seem to break! I had only had mine a few days before the powders smashed and balled inside the containers. This isn't a problem for me as i find them easier to apply like this and the catches are strong which keep the powder from spilling everywhere, though you do need to be careful when you open them.
Where to buy?
~~~~~~~~~~
I buy my stargazer shadows from a small local retailer for £2.50, but if you don't have a local stockist you can buy them online from www.stargazer-products.com for £3 in the 'neon girl' section. Many 'alternative' shopping areas such as Camden, London or the Covent Garden markets all sell these but be careful not to pay over the odds, some places overinflate the prices to £5 or £6. Also, ebay is a good place for these eyeshadows.
Overall?
~~~~~~~
Stargazer are one of my favourite companies for any kind of make-up, as they are different, alternative and reasonably cheap. £3 for an eyeshadow which lasts this well is excellent value, and very fashionable, especially for the nu-rave scenesters! Excellent for every single florescent adolescent, but not for those who like their make-up gentle or natural.
Summary: Excellent for those looking to stand out from the crowd, without paying a fortune.
