Advantages: Lots of shades, long lasting and versatile
Disadvantages: The price
I bought the Eye Shadow Trio on my latest Stila haul mainly because I loved the shades but also because it looked like a useful product to have around.
What does the product do?
The Eye Shadow Trio has versatility because it all three shades can be used to create a certain look or the colours can be used individually. They can also be used either wet or dry to transform them from a day to night look. They promise to give the eyelids a rich coat of colour with a delicious shimmer that makes the eyes look pretty.
Available Shades
There are plenty of trios to choose from and the colours in each set compliment each other so the hard work in completing a good look has been done for you. They range from neutral shades to the eye catching brights and they come with lovely names such as Bella, Goddess, Afterhours and Ethereal. I chose Gold Glow because the colours were right up my street being gold, brown and cream.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a plastic container with a flip top lid and the lid is transparent so you can see the product inside. The compact is sturdy enough to keep the powder inside from crumbling and breaking and the packaging looks quite classy and expensive. Now, this is the most expensive eye shadow that I have ever bought costing £24 from the Lookfantastic website. It is also available from department stores such as Boots and also from a variety of online websites.
How do you use the product?
You can use the products as instructed by using the cream on the upper eyelid. the gold across the actual eyelid and then use the brown as an eyeliner. The colours are spread out for you to use them in this way as you have plenty of gold and a thin strip of brown. You can also wear them individually, wet or dry or use the brown as a shadow and the gold as an inner eyelid highlighter. Versatility is the name of this product!
Application and Performance
The product is easy to apply to the eyelid and as it is baked so tightly in the compact, there is no fall out of powder beneath the eyes. It has a silky smooth consistency that glides across your eyelid without pulling or dragging the delicate skin. It feels completely comfortable and hasn't caused any irritations. The reason that I like this product, is that it has a metallic and shimmering finish but it still managing to be classy and suitable for day wear because it doesn't have an intensity or a rich pigmentation. The only thing that this trio fails on for me is when using the brown shadow as an eye liner, it just doesn't have the power needed for a liner so I don't use it for this purpose. The shadows are long lasting and will remain in place all day and they don't crease or fade.
Conclusion
This is a high quality eye shadow set which gives long lasting results that doesn't crease. There are enough shades to suit everyone and they can be used in a number of ways. They are over priced but they do look good on the eye lid and they will last forever. I probably couldn't justify purchasing another one of these but I am very happy with mine and I will continue to use it until it's all gone... which I anticipate being when I'm around 85.
Summary: A long lasting eye shadow that looks beautiful
