My mum bought this lip gloss a while back and I quite liked the look of it. However, I hadn't tried it out yet so I still had the nice job of testing it out. I don't know how much the lip gloss is, because my mum bought it for me for my birthday.
I tested this lip gloss to find out: how long it stayed on, and how it felt on my lips. I put the lip gloss on in the morning, when I woke up (10:15am exactly) and wore it throughout the day, without licking or wiping my lips. I didn't reapply it after eating. At 10:15pm, exactly twelve hours after applying the lip gloss, I checked to see if it was still there. I could see some faint shimmers, but I was pretty disappointed. It started to rub off after about an hour of wearing it, but I could still feel the stickyness of it throughout the day. When I applied it to my lips and rubbed my lips together, it did feel a bit sticky and gloopy.
It wasn't that comfortable on my lips throughout the day, either. It just felt really heavy, sticky and gloopy, and when I opened my mouth there were little strings of the products going from one lip to the other.
The colour of this lip gloss that I used was really nice but I just didn't like the lip gloss itself.
After using the bronzing powder from Stila and finding that this was good decided that I would try some other products from them and as I needed lipgloss decided I would buy some from this brand.
The promise of this product is that it has a nice shine but wont be sticky which is great as this seems to always be the case with lipglosses.
The lipgloss comes in quite a few shades which is great as it means you have a variety to choose from to match whatever mood your in.
Each comes in a tube containing .17oz of gloss and the tube is clear which means you can see the colour, and how much is left.It also has a silver screw lid containing a wand with brush applicator. The fact it has the brush rather then a sponge applicator means you can apply the lipgloss more accratley and evenly.
On applying it I was slightly worried due to the fact that it seemed to look quite gloopy and sticky however the colour and shimmer looked really nice.
However once a i egan applying it I realised that it stuck to its claim it wasnt at all sticky, and went on in the right consitency.
It leaves a lovely shimmer across the lips and was glad to find that it stayed on all day, which means this product should be lasting me a while!
Stila's IT glosses come in 15 amazing shades, mostly pinks and nudes. Each tube is .17oz of lovely lip gloss which is applied with a brush wand. The lid has nice detail to it, so you just twist to reveal the very easy to use brush which gives you great precision unlike sponge applicators. It's firm enough too, so that the bristles don't come loose and spread with the lip gloss over you lips.
The lip gloss is very sheer and even the darkest and most vibrant shades come out fairly watered down with some shimmer. It isn't sticky but I'd have to say this is because the lip gloss is fairly weak and with this comes weak colour too. On a plus side, the lip gloss does feel as though it moisturises your lips as they feel really soft on applicaion and unlike some lip glosses, it has a nice sweet smell, almost like cinnamon.
This lip gloss is not a favourite of mine, whilst it has some advantages there are more disadvtanges I could mention. Firstly, it doesn't last at all, when you first apply the lip gloss the colour is very under-whelming but it's even worse after an hour, there's hardly anything left on your lips.
At £14, this product isn't cheap and since you have to top up every half hour, it's not worth it. However, if you do want to give it a try, you can buy it from HQ Hair or Space NK but in my opinion you can buy quality Nars and Bobbi Brown lip glosses for the same price and they are 100% better.
Stila are a company known for their cult beauty products, particularly their lip glosses. The IT glosses are the latest addition to their product line and they promise to "take shine to a whole new level" without ever being sticky or tacky. Stila say that "this new high-shine, high-shimmer, high-sheen IT gloss is the definitive way to polish your pout" Well my major problem with lip glosses is that either they are too heavy, or if they manage to be light enough then they are too sticky, so the claim of never being sticky was what attracted me to this one.
The IT Gloss comes in 15 shades: Amazing, Astounding, Breathtaking, Enchanting, Energetic, Fashionable, Humorous, Iconic, Interesting, Inviting, Ravishing, Smashing, Striking, Stylish and Sweet. Each comes in a tube containing .17oz of gloss and the tube is seethrough revealing the colour with a silver screw lid containing a wand with brush applicator. I love the fact that this has a brush applicator rather than the sponge tipped wand which seems to be traditional for this bottle design - the brush makes it so much easier to apply the gloss and I find so often that sponges can simply wear down over time leaving you with just a stick to apply the gloss. This particular brush is nice and soft but firm enough that the bristles don't spread all across your lips on contact, ensuring you don't end up with gloss all around your mouth!
The shade I bought is Smashing, which looks in the bottle to be a fabulous hot pink. However, on application the colour is very very sheer, with just a hint of colour and lots of silvery shimmer. Although on pulling the wand out of the tube it does seem to have a thick and sticky texture, I have to agree with Stila's claim that it isn't sticky or tacky - it feels very smooth on the lips and quite moisturising, although when you press your lips together you can feel the teeny particles of shimmer. The smell is quite spicy - slightly cinnamon or nutmeg - and it almost feels as if there is an ever so slight plumping to the lips on applying this, which would certainly come from any cinnamon ingredient.
However, while I like this gloss, I don't love it. While the colour is great when you first apply it, it seems to wear off very quickly, leaving you with lots of shimmer rather than colour. If you want to keep the colour with this, expect to be reapplying ever 30 minutes. As my primary reason for wearing gloss is that I don't have much natural colour to my lips, I found this pretty average and a big disappointment. While I love the texture and the smell of this, the fact that the colour doesn't last is enough of a reason for me not to want to buy another one, especially given the not too cheap price tag - I'll be sticking to my hoard of other glosses!
The IT glosses retail at around £14 and can be bought from Space NK , Sephora, or online from HQhair.com.
