Advantages: Stila brand, Quality Product, nice effect
Disadvantages: Difficult to track down (Online not a problem so not a real issue)
Being a bit of a TK Maxx junkie, I love hunting through the beauty section to see what beauty bargains I can find for peanuts. They have a habit of putting 3 or 4 make up bits in a see through zipped bag and selling them altogether. This has its pros and cons as the shades they put together are often bizarre so I subtely open up the boxes and just check the shades are what I need for my pale complexion. In a recent beauty bargain from TK Maxx I got 3 Stila products together in one bag priced at £12, the retail was well in excess of £30, and this mascara alone should have been £14. For that price, it really is worth risking whether or not the products will be any good but I'm pleased to say they are all fab.
This mascara has been updated by Stila as the 'Major' was a big hit so they updated it to the 'Major Major', hence the reason why it was probably in TK Maxx, however many online retailers are still selling the Major - and still selling it at full price so I certainly got a bargain. I've used many different mascaras over the years as I aren't particularly brand loyal, and this is one of my favourites. I'll definately be seeking it out again when I use it all up. It doesn't clump at all but gives quite a natural but dramatic look (hope that makes sense!). The mascara on the wand isn't gloopy and doesn't clump on the wand. It gives a 'Major' lasting impression!
The mascara isn't waterproof and is available in black, black/brown and brown. I used to always buy black but as my hair is dark blonde I find it more natural to go for a black/ brown colour. The wand is flexible but firm, so upon application it has enough movement for you to be able to use it, without it feeling like it will snap away from the wand - like some better known mascaras have felt.
Although I had never used Stila products before, I was aware of them. They are known as a high end but modern brand, probably on parr with Benefit but just not as well known in the UK. They use eco friendly packaging and do not test their products on animals. Most of the products are silver with the Stila brand printed on the product and the simple style makes them eye catching and modern.
