Advantages: cheap, does what it says it should

Disadvantages: Taste but that's the point of it

Stop and Grow, says what it does, or does it.

This product is basically a nail varnish with a twist it tastes disgusting, perfect I thought for my family of four who are all serial nail chompers, myself included. I have chewed my nails for 35 years and while watching a DVD several months ago with the family I looked over and realised all four of us were doing one thing in common and it wasn't watching the film.

I purchased a bottle at superdrug for a couple of pound, I am not sure on the exact price but I know it was less than £2. First in line for the treatment was my son, he chews his nails down until they bleed, so I knew we had to try something. I did two coats on his nails as I knew he would spend extra time washing his hands or should that be nails to try and remove the taste.
His did sting slightly when it touched the raw parts around his nails, but I was hoping the pain would be another reminder for him not to do it. (it does warn this fact on the bottle)

Daughter was next, she had it applied to her hands and feet, she doesn't chew her finger nails that much its her toe nails that get chewed off. She was quite thrilled at having it applied as she thought it made her nails shine (just wait till she tastes it)

I did mine and painted a small amount of skin around the nail as the skin suffers from the chewing too.

Hubby also agreed to have his painted seen as it was clear and wouldn't be seen by the lads.
I religously painted everyone every second day and the results were interesting.

Guinea pig one (my son)
He stopped after a week and now has lovely long nails, strong, healthy and smooth. He does however need to have the stop and grow still applied as he hasn't broken the habit yet. The bottle advises continuing for three further months but we are on month six and it's still not broken his habit.

Guinea pig two (my daughter)
She also has lovely nails on her fingers but toes are worse than ever as now she picks them, resulting in more damage than biting.

Guinea pig three (me)
Well it's a cheaper habit than smoking and I think it has less health issues. 35 years of chewing is hard to break and I must admit to being the type of person to do the opposite to what I am told. And stop and grow for me if a perfect example. I am officially a lost cause.

Guinea pig four (hubby)
Well what can I say

He needs to book in for a manicure!!!!!

Stop and grow gets a two point five from us. I'll be nice and round it up to a three.

Summary: It won't work for everyone
