When it comes to make up its just always been something that has fascinated me and so much so I went to college and trained to be a Beauty Therapist at 25 lol. I simply adore cosmetics and to be honest I own way too much of them!
For Christmas I got loads of practical stuff. Im a 37 year old single woman with a flat and bills to pay and my home comes first to me so I was pleased with all that I recieved. However it was my best mate Liz that went for personal presents and she knows how much I love make up and got me this set and I was really delighted with it and couldn't wait to dig in and play dress up!
She got this at Savers though I don't know and haven't asked her how much she paid for it however online I have tracked this down and it retails at about £7.99 a time though I do know this is a cheaper brand and you can probably get this a damn sight cheap than that recomended price in places like Savers and Lloyd chemists etc.
Well the packaging to this is really nice and has a photograph of a young blonde lady on the front of it showing off a very glam sunkissed look and we are told that it is Sun Kissed 'For sensational looking skin!' and to 'Get the look' and there is a photograph of the products you get within the kit shown. On the back of the bo which is styled like a book we are again shown a photograph of the woman and the products including as well as the ingredients being given and contact details for the manufacturer are listed. When you open the box which as I have already mentioned is styled like a large book, again on the inside front cover of it we are shown the products and the tools in photographs and given ideas on how to use them and the products are behind a plastic see-through cover on the other side and in a tray to keep them secure.
Although this is called the 'Workshop' there are many different types of these meaning you select which products you want in a box. Some have more eyecolours in them, some lipsticks.... this kit has a large brush shimmer stick, a bronzing roll on, one blusher, two individual eyeshadows a blusher brush and a sponge, angled applicator for use on the eyes. Each one is neatly packaged and this looks like a matching kit too.
Loose Bronzing Powder In A Brush:
This comes in brush form and the case is brown and see through with a large black brush to the end of it and a plastic see through lid. We are told on it that it is 'Sunkissed' in gold writing and on the back of that it weighs 40g so it is a generously sized product though it isn't refillable sadly.
The idea with this is that you can sweep it over the skin to give a shimmery look, not just on the face but anywhere you want to really.
I was expecting a really browny/orangy colour and it to be really shimmery though I was pleasantly surprised by this product to be honest. I find it a little to shimmery on my face though you may well be daring enough to use it as a highlighter, I use this on my delotage. It stays put till I choose to remove it, contains no glitter and doesn't agitate my skin at all. I can make this stand out or be subtle and I actually really like this and the quality of the brush is absolutely superb. Again I did think the brush itself would be rough and cheap and flake everywhere but it seriously doesn't and is of great quality!
Roll On Bronzer:
This comes in a glass and brown little bottle with a screw on/off lid to the top of which covers a small whitish coloured rollerball. It weighs 3g and the colour is shimmery and bronze and rather intese in its colour pigmenation. Again you can use this as you would like, me though......this is my least favourite product. I don't know where to roll it and the powder comes out rather thick however I have dabbed a little on to one of my eyeshdow brushes and used it as a highligher just under my browbones with the eyeshadows given in this kit and again it stayed put till I removed it, did highlight and contour my eyes and was simple to remove with my usual make up removing routine. Although this isn't a huge product you do get lods and loads of it though me I could do without this one.
I love blusher and was really pleased to see this kit had one in it. It comes in a see through and brown round pot with a flip top lid to the top of it, again we are told like all the other products from within this range that it is Sunkissed in gold lettering and this gives us 2.5g on the pressed powder blusher. This is a smooth and silky blusher and the powder is very velvety feeling in application and once on the skin. Its a deep brown shimmery colour this one, applies easily and again, I can go quite natural looking with this or build the colour up and its none agitating on my skin and stays put all day long till I choose to remove it. I really like the richness of this colour and although shimmery it isn't too much so but for me this is best worn evening and night times!
Two small brown and see through plastic pots are in my particular kit. Each one has a flip top lid to the top of it and they weigh 2g's each. I can be rather funny about the eyeshadows I use as I suffer with senstive eyes but these colours are again smooth, ecellent quality and rich in colour. My two colours are not named (like any of the other products in the kit are not) but I have a shimmery grey shade and a white which takes us a bit away from the bronze shades of the other things nicely and adds a bit of contrast. I find these easy to apply, blend, they blend well with other makes or eye products and although these have a nice shimmer to them (which is very much the theme of this kit lol) they are subtle. When on, again they stay put and they don't crease or crack or anything adverse at all and are simple to remove after hours of wear.
The brushes within the kit are nice enough but nothing special. Like I stated at the start of this review you get two of them, a blusher brush which comes in a black and a bronze colour with Sunkissed written on it in gold writing, has a small black slightly rounded head to it and the hair is smooth and doesn't flake at all. Style wise the sponge applicator for the eyes looks the same but for the sponge on the end which is small, rounded and white and actually a handy tool in this kit to have so you can play around with your eyes using a smallish tool and it gives precision.
All In All:
I won't lie and say this is a set that I would have bought myself as being a bit of a make up snob I would have thought this was cheap make up however I have to say this is actually a nice enough kit and with very good quality bits of make up. I'm a bit disappointed there is no lippy or gloss in it though or an eyeliner but this is a good little summer kit you can plonk all together in a little make up bag and add your own other little bits to to complete the look if you so desire. I am impressed with the quality of the make up it has to be said and the packaging although not mega posh or anything like that it is decent and robust.
I like my kit and can create many faces with it so for that reason it does get a huge thumbs up from me!
