"Moisturises, softens and soothes dry and cracked lips. With SOF 15 for extra protection."
**Packaging**
The little pink tin is exactly that. A tin of lip balm, that is pink and little. the colour is a hot pink, easy enough to find when you've lost it among other items in your bag. The lid has the Superdrug star on the front and SPF 15. The back contains the quote above, as well as the lost of ingredients. It also has in bold writing that the product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. In addition to this is the barcode, the weight of the product and Superdrug contact information. On the edge of the tin is again the name of the product, as well as the BUAV approved rabbit logo, which states that this item was not tested on animals.
**My Opinion**
I love this product. During winter my lips become very dry and cracked. Vaseline I have found works, but as I am unsure if it's animal friendly I stopped using it. Unsure of what to do I scoured the shelves in Superdrug looking for a cheap, animal friendly replacement. And this is what I found. It was reduced, so I bought this colour, as well as the Red (strawberry) and Green (Aloe Vera) tins. Immediately it soothes my lips. It's sticky, which makes it feel as if it's working, but not enough to irritate me and annoy anyone who comes in close proximity to my lips. it also adds a nice shine to your lips. In terms of flavour and smell, it is pretty neutral. There is a slight flavour when you first open the product, but that goes away eventually. So if you dislike a flavoured lip balm, this is your go to item. Despite the tin being small and my usage being frequent, it lasts well. I've had my current one open since January and so far it's only half used. One little problem I found with the product and similar ones of it's type is the tin. Sometimes I find the lid closes too tightly, so I have to force the two sides of the tin apart. Very hard with someone without nails and strength, but also dangerous for long nails that are likely to break. Apart from this one small flaw this product is perfect. It is cheap, effective, animal friendly and does exactly what it says on the tin. Read the complete review |

SUPERDRUG THE LITTLE PINK TIN
***THE PRODUCT, PACKAGING AND PRICE***
The little pink tin is a small pink tin with a screw lid that has white writing and a small silver star on, On the underneath of the tin it has a list of ingredients, size of the tin and states that the product is suitable for use by vegans and ... vegetarians.
The pink is quite bright and vivid in colour, and appeals to girls/women of all ages, Each tin contains 20g of jelly type balm that has also got spf 15 protection in it.
It can only be bought from superdrug online or superdrug stores and retails at around £1.29 a tin, although can often be found on offer for 99p
***WHY I PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT AND MY OPINION***
I often suffer with horrible dry, cracked lips when the weather is cold and windy as well as when I have a cough and cold, My eldest child is also the same, When I have dry lips I often find myself biting them and making them worse.
So for this reason I purchase the little pink tin all year round and find that for £1.29 it lasts me approx 3 months, this is applying it 2-3 times daily and my eldest also using it occasionally when he suffers with dry lips.
This product really helps to sooth and heal my lips and also helps moisturize them, Within 2 days of using this product my lips feel so much softer and look healthier as well. Read the complete review |

Superdrug Oval Cotton Wool Pads
by Wee_Jackie_163
I use cotton wool regularly, for a whole host of assorted tasks at home, that range from caring for my elderly feline to some perhaps more common tasks that form part of my own skin care routine (!) such as removing eye make up.
I do buy cotton wool pleats or cotton balls as these are usually more cost effective than buying ... cotton wool pads and for some of the more menial tasks such as washing my cat's eyes, or removing messy nail polish from my fingernails, I find the cheaper cotton wool works just fine.
When it comes to using cotton wool on my face however, I find the round or oval-shaped cotton wool pads work more preferably for me, probably as there are generally less 'flecks' of cotton wool able to become loose from the pad, especially when compared to 'loose' cotton wool such as pleats, for example. This means that when I am using the cotton wool pads around the eye area, there is less chance of any loose particles becoming embedded in my eyelashes which can cause irritation.
I have tried out various types of cotton wool pad over the years, with my most recent purchase being from Superdrug, namely the "Superdrug Cotton Wool Oval Pads." I have been using these particular pads for around a month now, and this review outlines my experiences of using the product.
I paid around £1.70 for the pack of cotton wool pads, which contains 50 individual pads. I don't think this price offers the best value for money, especially when supermarket-own branded pads are compared. What I find, however, is that the oval-shaped pads are considerably larger than the smaller circular shaped pads, and this larger shape and size works slightly better than smaller pads, for some of their required tasks.
To explain this a little better, I find the larger shape of the oval pads work better when removing nail polish from my fingernails. The Superdrug Oval pads are large enough to allow for several attempts at removing the coloured varnish from my nails, whereas smaller circular pads need to be discarded and replaced with a fresh pad more frequently.
The pads are white in colour, as you would expect. I find the Superdrug Oval Cotton Wool pads are quite thick, especially when compared to more 'budget' pads, particularly those that are from the Supermarket 'Budget' brands. These 'budget-branded' cotton wool pads seem to be extremely thin and are therefore rather useless when it comes to absorbency etc. There is no such issue with the Superdrug alternative, thankfully, as these are made up of two separate layers, in effect.
These layers come apart very easily with a light pull on one of the outer sides. This leaves you with two thinner pads that can be used separately, depending on what you are requiring the cotton wool for. To explain this a little better, I find that one single oval pad will separate into two individual thinner sections which are each perfectly able to cope with cleaning my cat's eyes with a little warm water solution. The separated sections of the pad are perfectly able to cope with this type of job and so I do not see the need to use two whole pads for this task.
Other tasks require more cotton wool, and so I find that separating the pads is not as effective in coping with these tasks. An example of this would be with removing my eye make-up which requires the use of an eye make-up remover solution or cream. I find the separated sections of the Superdrug Oval Cotton Wool Pads are not really up to the task as they are too thin which damages their absorbency, as you would expect. For tasks like this then, I find it is necessary to use a 'whole' cotton wool pad for each use. The plus side of this however, is that due to the oval shape of the Superdrug pads, they are large enough to use each side by itself - separated or not - and this means that each pad is able to cope with slightly more use than the smaller, circular pads that I normally buy.
I have found the pads to be really absorbent, especially when they are not separated, of course. This means they are able to cope well with a whole host of beauty-related 'tasks', such as removing my eye-make up and my nail polish. Being soaked in a lot of solution such as eye make up remover doesn't cause the pads to fall to pieces, and they are able to carry out their intended purpose well.
The pads are what I would describe as being of a 'Premium' quality in that I have never experienced any sort of scratchy or harsh type of feeling from their cotton wool surface. Even when used around the delicate eye area, I have noticed nothing in the way of irritation, and my sensitive skin has not suffered from their use - either during or after their use on my skin.
The cost of the Superdrug Oval Cotton Wool pads is slightly more than other brands, as I touched on earlier, but I do feel that they are of a very high quality, and their larger-than-average size makes them more convenient and slightly more economical too. I do feel, therefore, that their higher price tag is quite justified and I will definitely repurchase the product for myself again in the near future.
For the reasons outlined in this review, I cannot really fault the Superdrug Oval Pads and feel that they are quite deserving of full marks in the product rating score, as a result. Read the complete review |
