      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      not good at all

I bought these large oval double faced cotton wool pads from tesco priced at £1.60.
I thought they would come in useful as they are quite big in comparisson to your standard cotton wool pads so I thought I would use less - it's also double faced which is meant so the other side can be used too.

The pads come in a drawstring bag and it is pretty basic in design but in terms of buying cotton wool pads I thought any would do the job and that you wouldn't really come across any that are of bad quality.

But I have to say these are the worst i've ever come across and wouldn't recommend even bothering to purchasing these! They are ridiculous. On opening the bag as soon as I picked one up you could see the pads were falling apart, the layers of the cotton weren't even stuck together properly and you could actually see through the pads so I could not understand how they could state that these were double faced cotton wool pads and that you would be able to get two uses out of each pad.

Although I was dissapointed with the look of these pads, I still thought they would turn out ok to use.. but they get even worse on application. Any liquid applied to the cotton wool pad just goes right through it!
I bought them for using a cleanser and toner with it but the liquid did just go right through it and was pretty awful. Not only that, but the cotton wool pads themselves are so rough! Not what you would expect at all - they are scratchy and irritating to use and begin to fall apart.

I've still got the pack lying around, it comes in a pack of 50 but I can't see myself using them up they are that bad! and I tend not to waste anything but there is no point using these.

I thought I may have just picked up a bad bag but i've read other reviews have stated the same thing and given it 1 star so clearly its an issue.

I wouldn't even bother purchasing these, the idea was good and made it different to other cotton pads being so large and apparently double facing... but there's just no point if it can't be used well.

I also give the product 1 star and wouldn't purchase it again, I don't even think it should be on the shelves as it's such poor quality. Other ones are definitely better.

I've never wrote a review for a bad product before or given it such a low rating, but these are completly useless!

      Thanks for reading :)

        Not Fit For Purpose

Tesco Large Oval Cotton Wool Pads - 50 pads for 88p

I bought these cotton wool pads from Tesco last week. In the past I have been buying The Body Shop Organic Cotton Wool Pads - these cost £2.40 for 50 pads. The Tesco ones looked quite similar in size to the Body Shop ones I had been buying so to save money I thought I would give the Tesco ones a go!

I use cotton wool pads for removing my make-up and applying cleanser and toner, I don't really have any other use for them. I only use a couple a day so my usual Body Shop pack of 50 lasts me for about a month.

The Tesco Cotton Wool Pads come in a clear plastic pack with a blue label on the front - the pack is mostly clear plastic so you can see exactly what you are buying - cotton wool pads! The pack also had a drawsting at the top so you can reseal the pack to keep the cotton wool pads clean and dry.

On using the pads I did not find them to be very effective. Firstly they were very thin and almost see through. They are described as double facing meaning you can use both sides of the pads - there was no chance of this, once you used one side with cleanser for cleansing your face the pad started to break up and there was no way the other side of the pad could be used. Once the pads have any sort of liquid or cream on them then they can not take the weight and they fall apart. My fingers also went right through them. They were really thin and quite awful!

The pads were actually quite rough, they felt quite scratchy on my face, again this is solely down to the fact that they are too thin for their purpose.

The shape of the pad had no relevance - the big downside of the pads is that they are not thick enough to be of any use at all and fall apart very easily. This has nothing at all to do with the shape and is down to the consistency of the cotton wool the pads are made from.

After using the pads I flushed them down the toilet and they flushed well so no problems there.

I really can't think of anything these pads can be used for effectively and I won't ever buy them again!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Rubbish

I usually use small round cotton wool pads for my cosmetic needs such as taking off eye make-up, using facial toner and dabbing Optrex on my eyes. I buy them from Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury's and they are all much the same. However last time I needed some, I found that Tesco didn't have any. I didn't have time to go elsewhere and figured that oval pads would be OK. However they were a bit of a disappointment.

The pads come in a clear bag with a drawstring at the top. I think they cost me around 80 pence but for some reason they seem to have been removed from the Tesco website this week so I can't accurately check the price. However there is a pack of Tesco 'My Baby's' cotton wool ovals that look much the same and they are a similar price so I can assume that's about right.

The pads are supposed to be double facing which I suppose means that if they are not saturated after using them on one side then you can reuse them on the other side. This is a good money saving measure if you usually only use pads on one side.

I found two major problems with these pads. Firstly the size was really weird and the shape was odd too and I found that neither the size nor shape were useful for any of my cosmetic needs. The pads were far too large to use successfully around the eye area and they didn't sweep easily around the face either so if I wanted to use them with toner I had to fold them in half first.

Secondly, the pads were really rough. They were so rough that I didn't just notice the unpleasant texture in delicate areas such as around the eyes, I noticed it everywhere and found it uncomfortable even to use on hardier skin such as the forehead. The pads were much scratchier to the touch than the normal cotton wool circles I use and I found them so unpleasant that I didn't even finish the packet.

I'm not sure why these pads are so rough but I know I won't be buying any more oval pads from Tesco and will stick to the nice soft round one I normally buy!
