Advantages: Great products, range getting wider and wider, good prices, fast shipping, friendly seller
Disadvantages: None!
I started wearing makeup on my face (as opposed to just eyes and lips) about a year ago, and soon realised that trying to find a mineral makeup I was happy with could save my skin a lot of aggravation in the long run.
I have been buying things of Etsy for a few years now, and while on a "window shop" discovered The All Natural Face, a store with a wide (and getting wider) range of mineral makeup at really great prices. Best yet, although (as with many Etsy sellers) the store is based in the US, shipping is the same, and cheap, no matter where you live, and I have always received my orders within a week.
Crystal, the store's owner, is so passionate about what she does. She wants girls (and guys, hey I don't descriminate!) to have the option of buying a mineral makeup that can be customised to their skin tone, contains only natural ingredients which are unlikely to break you out, and have the added benefit of sun protection.
My first order was for seven foundation samples in little plastic bags with a tiny kabuki brush. It did shed a little, but it was essentially free and while it isn't great for all-over face coverage, it works nicely for blush. At the time the seller was just building up her store and it was staggeringly cheap at $1.70 for the lot, and 50 cents shipping. I was amazed to receive not the seven I had picked out, but about 20 samples, my perfect shade not actually being one of those I'd asked for! It is a quality product, providing natural-looking, buildable coverage. I also received samples of concealers, eye shadows and my favourite product, "Glow" which I wear as a light blush and gaves my face a pick-me-up when I feel a bit washed out.
I have placed two subsequent orders, each coming with TONS of extra samples. One time I noticed that blushes were "coming soon" to the store, so I asked for some samples and Crystal happily provided me with about five. I also received a coupon to pass on to a friend to get them and me freebies!
Prices are really affordable. There are tons of eyeshadow shades which cost $2.50 for a 5g jar. Well maybe the jar is supposed to hold five grams, but Crystal stuffs them to the brim with a quality powder shadow which lasts all day. She has now even brought out primers and sealants and a natural mascara. Face-wise, you can get a complete concealer kit included bamboo-handled brush for $15, 20g (again, stuffed full) foundation with lovely kabuki for $15 and beautiful blushes and bronzers. You can even get a complete face kit including brushes.
I totally recommend trying out the All Natural Face. Etsy is an easy site to use and accepts Paypal. The store has such a wide range of products that no matter what you are looking to replace with a mineral version (eg foundation, blush, eyeshadow) you are likely to find the exact shade, and if not Crystal will be happy to mix you something custom. There are always offers such as three eyeshadows for $6, and they will last a really long time as the jars are so stuffed full. As far as I'm concerned, I don't need to look any further when I want to add something to my makeup collection. I know my wallet can handle it, I know my skin can handle it, and I know it will arrive quickly with some fun extras. What more can you ask for?
