Advantages: Lovely smell, long wearing, long lasting, nicely presented.
Disadvantages: A bit more expensive if bought full price.
From my previous reviews you will see that I am a huge Body Shop fan and as part of my New Years resolution I decided to start using up my 300+ stash of toiletries and make up items which take up 2 tall plastic drawered units and so I shall have many more reviews shall be coming this way.
I started using this lip balm a few weeks ago after my lips were very dry in the cold spell and thought that after constant use it deserved my opinion.
*~* The Company *~*
The Body Shop is an ethically, natural shop which sells a variety of various toiletries and make-up products. It is owned by L'Oreal which comes as a surprise to many people. With shops and an online store, it is not hard to source their products.
*~* Price and Availability *~*
This particular lip balm is available for £4 both instore and online throughout the Christmas period as the name 'Cranberry Joy' would suggest. I picked this up a year or so ago when it was reduced down to just £1 which I thought for a well known brand was an excellent buy. With 15ml it's a little more expensive than other brands but it is a good buy if it can be bought on offer.
*~* Packaging *~*
The packaging is very simple in that it is presented in a small circular tin which is red in colour and the top presents a cranberry plant around the edges. The centre contains useful information such as the volume of product, the name of the product and the advice of 'Fresh Berry Flavour'.
Personally I am a fan of this type of presentation, by having a tin which has a wide opening allows you to get a finger/brush in there to apply easily along with being able to use down to the last drop with no problems.
*~* Use Of The Product *~*
To use this product you simply use your finger or a lip brush and add a small amount onto the brush and spread over the lips to give a moisturised, re-hydrated feeling.
*~* My Opinion Of The Product *~*
On opening the tin I was presented with a very berry scent which is exactly as described, it has a pale pink colouring and has a sheen to it. I personally use my finger to apply and found it very easy to remove from the tin. There was a very thick texture but it wasn't overly greasy once applied.
The scent was lovely and long lasting, I found it to be completely moisturising and made my lips instantly soft and crack free.
I found it lasted a good few hours with an occasional drink. I did reapply when i felt my lips starting to go dry again which was a lot quicker when I was outside in the cold. It was perfect for using underneath lipsticks and provided my lips as a smooth base with quick absorbtion which meant I was more receptive to the lipstick and it lasted a lot longer. However it also gave a nice sheen that was nice enough to be worn solo.
After continual use I found my lips to become healthier and softer with less cracks. So far the tin barely has a dent in it which is excellent value for the price I paid. Even for £4 it is a bargain but I would rather pay less than that. I have seen it on offer for only £2 or less.
I wouldn't say that is was only for Christmas use, the scent is cranberry only but almost a mixed berry scent which is suitable for all times. The tin is resistant and so far (despite being carted various places) has no wear and tear or wear on the external colour.
*~* Would I Recommend? *~*
Most definitely, it is an excellent product from an ethically sound company and I would have no hesitation in purchasing this again.
Summary: A lip balm that really works and smells gorgeous!
