Advantages: Very quick and effortless to apply and remove.
Disadvantages: The matt shades can be very dull looking.
I am a huge fan of the body shop and I review as many products as I can to make people aware of the products and the body shop itself.
Yes some items can be very expensive but the body shop pride themselves in the fact that they never test on animals, use natural ingredients in every product they produce and they also support many community trade programmes across the world.
I feel that buying from the body shop I can not only get fantastic products but I can also help the environment.
THE PRODUCT
Here I am going to review the body shops cream eye shadow, usually I never wear a cream shadow I always find that I am best suited to powder shadows. But as I am an avid fan of the body shop a friend recently bought me a body shop make up pack for my birthday and it contained this cream eye colour.
At first I was very sceptical as in the past I have found cream shadows to crease up, smudge easily and they were very difficult to apply. But I have to honestly say I did not have a problem with this what so ever.
This is the cashmere 06 shade which is a dark pink plumish colour that contains tiny UV partials to give the shadow a shimmer with intense colour that lasts and will not fade away.
The eye shadow it a wet lightweight cream that dries onto the eyelids almost instantly and the colour appears the same on your eye lids as it does in the tube.
There is no need to keep on reapplying the shadows as one application will give you the colour intended straight away.
This eye colour comes in an 8ml squeezable plastic tube with a screw top lid, this is very similar to a lip gloss tube in appearance.
The best thing about this is the fact that it comes with its own applicator wand which is attactched to the screw off lid, this make the application very simple indeed.
APPLICATION
As this has its own application wand you can apply the eye shadow directly to your eyelid, while the shadow is still tacky I would recommend you try to smudge the shadow with your finger tip or even a blender brush, this just softens the colour and blends the eye shadow in perfectly for a flawless look.
This is just as easy to remove as it is to apply, good old fashioned soap and water will remove it but if you have mascara on then I would recommend you use a suitable make up remover.
COMMUNITY TRADE
This product also supports one of many, of the body shops community trade programmes.
The Marula oil that is contained in this cream eye shadow is the key ingredient that supports these trades.
For this product Body Shop trades with the Eudafano Womens Cooperative in northern Namibia, which helps women in rural communities who have very few opportunities to earn a good wage.
Using the marula oil therefore provides women in areas often struck by famine and water shortages with the rare opportunity of regular work and a good income to support their families.
INGREDIENTS
This fantastic cream eye colour has three key ingredients that are designed to moisturise and protect your skin in the best possible way.
Marula Oil is the main ingredient and is used to moisturise and condition the skin of long periods of time, it also contains fatty acids that help repair the skins natural moisture barriers helping you restore your skins moisture, smoothness and suppleness.
Marula oil is produced for the marula tree which is native to Southern Africa. This oil is rich in oleic acid and is a vital ingredient to help you have healthy-looking skin.
Light UV particles and pearl pigments are used to add shimmer and sparkle to highlight your eyelids and brow lines, this helps to disguise fine lines around the eyes.
Cucumber extract is used to cool and sooth the skin around the eye area.
Other ingredients include, Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Mica (Opacifier), Glycerin, Silica (Absorbent), VP/Dimethiconylacrylate/Polyglycol Ester (Film Former), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Carbomer (Viscosity Modifier), Methylparaben (Preservative), Propylene Glycol (Humectant), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Butylparaben (Preservative), Ethylparaben (Preservative), Isobutylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Cucumis sativus (Cucumber Extract) (Natural Additive), CI 77891 (Colour), CI 77163 (Colour), CI 77492 (Colour), CI 77491 (Colour).
PRICE
This comes in an 8ml tube and costs 9.00, this can be purchased from any Body shop store, Body shop at home party or online at www.the body shop.co.uk.
You can also buy online at www.amazon.com and ebay also offer these cream colour tubes at a reduced price, I have seen these go for as little as 4.50 on ebay.
These amazing little tubes come in five different shades to suit any skin tone, they are also available in matt and pearl finishes to suit your needs.
These five shades include:
ARTIC IVY 03 (Ice blue in colour)
DUST PINK 02 (Soft baby pink in colour)
CASHMERE 06 (Dark plum pink in colour)
STARRY SILVER 01 (Sliver/white with sparkle in colour)
MINK 05 (Plum lilac in colour)
MY OPINION
To be honest I still prefer a powder eye shadow, but I have to admit I have been pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this, I love the fact that it gives me a nice even coverage with a very intense colour.
This is great as it does not cease up or smudge after application, I found the pearl finish shadows a lot better that the matt as the colour seemed more vivid and the matt was very dull looking but it would have been ideal for a day make up.
The biggest bonus was the fact that the application only took a few seconds and therefore saved me a lot of time in the morning, so therefore it gets my vote if you are in a hurry.
Summary: Great for any girl on the go.
