The Body Shop Eye Colour Eyeshadows
Advantages: Good amount of colours to pick from, last well, durable on the eyes
Disadvantages: The price tag
As you can guess from my recent reviews I'm a Boots No7 and Benefit devotee when it comes to make up, however when occasional special offers come up I do branch out a little. During the Christmas sale one of the places I love to visit is the Body Shop they normally have great offers during the Christmas period.
The Body Shop Colour Eye shadows:
'Long-lasting, crease-resistant and moisturising eye shadow that offer intense colour coverage, with no powdery residue. Contains vitamin E and Community Trade marula oil. Dermatologically and Ophthalmologically tested'
I had looked at these eye shadows awhile back now but I just couldn't part with £7.50 for a small tub of eye shadow. (Size is like a £2 coin - 1.4g) For how small they were I just could not justify that price. However in the sale there were a few colours that had been reduced to only £1.00! So at that price I was more than happy to give them a go.
There are approximately seventeen colours in this range however they do change them around from time to time full list of colours can be found here - www.thebodyshop.co.uk
The colours I picked were damson, slate and sky blue. These little eye shadows don't come with a brush so you do need your own unless you prefer to use your finger when applying. Normally it depends what mood I'm in as to if I apply using my finger or a brush.
When I first tried these I was pleased with what great quality they were, the eye shadow feels creamy but yet it's a powder and glides over your eyes with ease. It really does leave you with perfect results, I have used these when covering a full eye or when doing half which I do for my day time look and there was no creasing what so ever.
I have used three different colours from this range now and each colour has lasted well on my eyes, giving me a good six/seven hours or so of coverage. Though it's a powder I don't get any flakes of the eye shadow around my eyes nor does the colour fade any throughout the day.
A good thing so far is that with one of the tubs (Slate) I have used a lot of now and it hasn't gone into crumbs or flakey within the container like I have known some do in the past. It is still compacted and compressed only with a little dent in it now after all its use. Only down side for me is that the packaging isn't the best and I have to be careful when I open the tub as I feel I'm going to break it and the top is on the flimsy side also.
A tip I was told in the Body Shop if you apply with a moist brush you get a deeper effect on your eyes from the powder. I gave this a try and it works great and doesn't affect the quality either of the eye shadow.
When it comes to removing the eye shadow it really couldn't be simpler a baby wipe or cleansing wipe will do and comes right off, there is no need to use anything stronger in order to remove it. Great as this means less work getting the war paint off.
Price and Availability:
Since I looked at these last they have now gone up to £8.00 per colour which I do think is pricey but they do last you well. As they are a Body Shop product they can only be purchased from the Body Shop itself or from their online store.
Right now they are offering free delivery and a free gift when spending over £25.00.
Or you can even host a Body Shop party at home where one of there representative comes to visit you and your guests at home. You also get money off products the more money your friends spend etc.
I am really happy I manage to grab some of these for only £1.00 each, it is a complete bargain. They last well, stay in place and don't crease up on your eyes. I would recommend these if you can get them while on offer because of the small amount I feel these should be around the £5.00 mark at the most.
They have a awesome range of colours to choose from so I'm sure you will not be disappointed and will be able to find a colour you're looking for.
Four out of five stars from me. (Minus one star due to the price)
Thanks for reading :o)
Although I do love the body shop there prices are really expensive for the size of the product you're getting. But then when you think of all there fair trade and community help which they give the money got to come from somewhere.
Summary: A super eye shadow from the body shop
