The Body Shop Eye Definer Pencil
Advantages: Strong colour, easy to apply, easy to remove, long lasting, gentle on eyes, excellent quality.
Disadvantages: Not waterproof, can smudge in heat.
I picked up my eyeliner when it came free with a magazine giving me a magazine and 2 Body Shop eyeliners for just £2 which is excellent considering each of these eyeliners should cost £9 each however you can get them on offer at some points, for 10g I think this is pretty expensive in comparison to cheaper brands but as this is a premium product it's not too bad and given how long it lasts I think it works out pretty well. This product is available both on-line and instore from the Body Shop and you will get 10% off if you have a Love Your Body discount card.
I have two of the shades, black and navy blue although this review will focus on the black. The pencil seems much longer than my others I have laying around so you do get more product, the cover of the wood is a matte finish and it's easy to hold in my hand without it slipping. I also find that the width of the pencil is similar to other brands and is the perfect thickness for getting a good grip to apply the liner. The transparent lid keep the tip clean and i have found that despite being thrashed around in my bag and so on it stays on nice and tight and there's no worry of black lines or smudges over the inside of my bag.
Using the eyeliner is lovely, the product is nice and creamy and easily glides over my waterline leaving a very dark pigmented colour behind. One sweep is all this takes for my eyes to look bigger and bolder which means this lasts very well. I have used this particular liner every day for the last 3 months or so and I've still got most of the product left which is excellent value I think.
The eyeliner does a good job of staying where I applied it, when it's been hot I have seen some slight smudging under my eyes but not dramatically so. One thing I do have to mention is this is not waterproof and if the waterworks decide to creep up on you those panda eyes most definitely will make an appearance. In saying this for general day to day use this definitely has staying power and is perfect for all occasions.
To remove I simply use a make up remover wipe and find that it wipes off very easily however I find I need a little more to remove than other eyeliners as this is so pigmented that the wipes end up covered in black which I don't want to be wiping over my face. To sharpen the pencil is as easy as sharpening any other pencil, just a couple of turns in a sharpener leaves the pencil sharpened yet not at a pointy end.
Overall I think this is an excellent product, if I hadn't got it free in a magazine I probably would never have tried it as at £9 it's not cheap however I envisage that this will last around a year which works out as really good value for such a high quality liner. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.
Summary: An excellent high quality product.
