Advantages: Shimmer and Metalic shine all in one pot.

Disadvantages: If you dont apply with a brush can be tricky to get an even cover.

I was digging through my make up bag while I was on holiday and I came across these Eye Lustre Pearls is a silvery blue shade, I had purchased these from the body shop over three months ago and I have never even given them a try until my recent holiday.

THE PRODUCT

The lustre pearls are a body shop 2008 limited edition eye shadow, these lustre pearls are basically and eye shadow with a slight twist, they come in the form of tiny balls very similar to a bronzing pearl, there are two shades within each pot.

My pot of pearls were the silvery blue 01 shade, half of the shadow balls were silver shimmer with a slight blue tinge to them and the other half were bright metallic aqua blue, each pot contains approximately 80 little eye shadow pearls so you will receive roughly 40 of each shade.

These amazing little beads come in both a metallic and a shimmer type eye shadow, so they colours that are within the pot can be mixed and blended together perfectly or you can use just one shade depending on your mood.

The body shop are only currently stocking three different shades at the moment, the 01 silver blue shade that I have and they also stock 02 Golden Green and 03 Lustrous Pink.

After trying these I am now seriously considering buying the green lustre pearls as I remember when I purchased the blue ones this also looked like a fantastic colour.

Each tiny little pearl contains enough eye shadow for at least three applications, this makeup is very light with a really smooth texture which therefore makes the application of the product very easy.

APPLICATION

To apply this eye shadow I would recommend that you use an eye shadow brush, simply crush a pearl bead in to the top of the lid and then apply directly to your eyelids and brow line.

If you choose to try both colours at once you will need to crush up two pearls at a time.

I find that if you apply a little amount at a time and gradually build up the colour for more intensity you can achieve fantastic results, but if you apply to much at once the shadow dust can fall of the brush easily and give you a big blue face that you will then need to wash and start again.

PACKAGING

These 80 or so pearls come in a clear plastic jar with a gold screw off lid. I have to say the little pot itself is great as it keeps the pearls in the jar without them jumping out when you apply the makeup.

Once you have unscrewed the lid you will need to remove a little round pad that sits on top of the pearls to protect them from getting crushed, you must always remember to replace the pad after use as you will damage the makeup and both colours will then be mixed together.

PRICE

These little pots retail at 9.00 a pot. You can purchase them from a Body Shop store or on line at www.Thebodyshop.co.uk. If you buy online the body shop are currently offering free postage so if you fancy trying these then just log on to the web site.

COMMUNITY TRADE PROGRAMMES

The body shop are well known for their support in the community trade programmes, The programmes are designed to help poor over populated villages, by purchasing the natural ingredients surrounding the villages, in return the body shop pay wages to the people to help them support their families and develop the villages schools, water supplies ect.

These eye shadow pots also contain key ingredients like the community trade marula oil, this marula oil is a highly effective moisturiser that conditions and hydrates the skin perfectly over time.

Another key ingredient is the community trade Brazil nut oil, designed to moisturise the skin leaving it silky smooth and supple.

MY OPINION

I love the fact that this contains two community trade ingredients, this way I feel that I am helping these under privileged places twice over, by buying this one little pot. Some of you may feel that 9.00 is excessive but this will last a very long time and proceeds do go to a worthy cause.

If you like high impact make up and enormous eyes then give these a try, I would highly recommended the blue shade if you have blue eyes it truly looks amazing.

Summary: Great all round shadow ideal for a high impact look.
