You can say I am a religious buyer from the Body Shop, I have been using their skin care for over 5 years now, as well as their body butter, hair care products...etc. I am running low on my usual foundation, so I decided to grab this foundation since the store rep was suggesting it (as she wore it herself too) and they were doing buy 2 get 30% off at the BS outlet in Livingston. I have tried powder, press powder, liquid, BB cream and dream matte mousse from Maybelline, not I have never tried a creamy foundation, so I decided give it a try
A little about my self:
-Asian, 23 years old
-I have combination skin, little bit oil + occasional break out at T zone, and normal on the rest of my face
-my problem: uneven skin tone, some acne mark and pretty big under eye circle
-I am using BRTC jasmine water BB cream, sort of like a tinted moisturizer,it provides light-med coverage, which is enough for me.
Okay move on to the product:
I used color 04.
-creamy when I texted out in store with my finger
-but when you applied on your face.... cakey, powdery, not to mention it feel like a mask covering on your face
-very difficult to apply on face when I tried to apply with the sponge given. I am not sure is it because I have never used a sponge before or what. After I scoped into the foundation for like 5-6 times, it still not even to cover my face at all. Not to mention there is probably more foundation left on the sponge than my face. When I use BB cream, it only take me 10 second, and 1 layer is usually enough for me. I have too apply over and over again with this foundation and it still doesn't give enough coverage ( all I am asking is to cover my acne mark on my forehead and even out my skin!!)
-so color pay off is a big NO NO!
-I literally scared myself when I looked at myself in the mirror while in the drug store looking at another foundation ( cos I know I don't like this already!!) My skin looks so dried, the foundation already coming out after 3-4 hours of wearing. I looked like a have dry skin problem around my nose and forehead, almost like my skin is peeling off from my face.
*while I am typing this review, I looked at the label, and apparently it was made in 2007. Which is.. do your math... 5 years ago!! and I only brought this during boxing week (2weeks ago). Not only I brought a completely useless product, I also feel like I've been ripped off since makeup should not be wore after 3 years max. Where such high reputation, I cannot believe the Body Shop will sell expired product! Especially the compact are sealed within a plastic package, I couldn't see the making date before purchasing this!
The Body Shop's Flwaless Skin Protecting Foundation is a wonderfully mineral based foundation. This makes your skin less prone to imperfections after use. Although you should always clense, tone and moisturise before and after applying make-up as this in itself will prevent imperfections from occuring.
I have been using this foundation for about four months and have found that it really helps to cover up imperfections. Especially when used with The Body Shops consellor.
The foundation leaves you with a flawless finish and I find that it makes me feel a lot more elegant and confident too.
To ensure that the foundation looks it's best I would recommend that you have a free beauty consultation at your nearest Body Shop. They'll help pick out a shade which suites your skin tone and also give you tips on how to correctly apply it. This will give a flawless overall finish, which we all want.
I tried this product once and I will never purchase it again!
On the surface it looks like this product has potential, the packaging is effective - it comes with a mirror and a sponge to help with application and the foundation itself is very smooth and feels like it would apply well.
However my high hopes were shattered, the consistency of the foundation is far too oily and you can't create a light coverage with the enclosed sponge, I ended up looking like an orange Upalumpa - a look I wasn't looking to achieve! I found that the results were marginally better when I applied the foundation with a makeup brush, but still, I wasn't impressed.
I also think this product is overpriced; you don't get a lot of foundation for your money.
If you like to wear a thick layer of makeup then you might like this product, but if you like the "natural effect," or you'd like to choose how intense your makeup is depending on the occasion, then I'd stay away. Overall it's a big thumbs down from me.
Yet another Body Shop item I have left over from my (very short) time as a Body Shop At Home Rep. I personally prefer liquid foundations and even then I don't use foundation every day but I thought I'd review this as it's probably my least favourite of all their make-up products.
Packaging and appearance
This comes in a very shiny flat case, reflective enough to be a mirror which is quite useful!
Inside is the applicator sponge and the foundation, You don't get much foundation considering the size and price.
I wouldn't say this is really cream-to-powder. It is thick and sticky which makes it fiddly to apply with any accuracy. There is not much of a powdery feel to it when it's dried but I suppose it does give a Matte effect.
We were taught in training to apply this product with a damp, flat foundation brush. There is a sponge included but I have to say having applied it both ways, you will get a more even and natural looking coverage with a brush.
Using this sort of foundation definitely requires a bit of a knack, it is very easy to apply too much and end up looking like you have been tangoed! This would be a great foundation for people who like a thick layer but isn't so well suited to people like me who only wear a small amount of foundation.
It is difficult to blend this foundation around the edge of your face due to the thick sticky consistency. The first time I used it I looked like I'd painted a big orange circle around my face! Not a good look...
As you can probably tell, I didn't like using this, I found it fiddly and time-consuming to apply and wasn't happy with the finished look. I will definitely be sticking to liquid foundation (and in defense of Body Shop theirs is actually very good).
Like all Body Shop make-up this is not cheap, costing £12 and, given that you will end up using a lot because it is so thick, I can't imagine it would last long with daily use. There are certainly cheaper foundations out there that I prefer and ones a lot better than this for about the same amount of money.
I've been a fan of Body shop products for many years now, so always find myself trying out theie new ranges when they are released.
My only problem with buying foundations and concealers is that I am very pale skinned so many brands of make up just don't cater for my skin tone. Coupled with having sensitive skin this rules out most brands of foundation for me.
So there I was umming and ahhing over whether to try this product when a sales assistant came over to me and said would I like to test out some shades in the shop. We found that shade 01 (the lightest, as I expected) matched my skin tone the best.
Knowing that things always look different when you try them in the shop to when you get them home and use them properly I wasn't too confident that it would look perfect when I used it.
- This comes as a compact including a mirror and application sponge pad so it's good if you're on the go.
- Glides onto your skin smoothly
- The shade is good for my skin tone and doesn't make me look too orange.
- Tends to go a bit cakey on certain places after a few hours, like along fine lines and around the nose.
- It doesn't give very good coverage alone, I have to use a concealer and powder with this to get the 'flawless' coverage that it advertises.
- The Body shop don't sell refills for this so you have to buy an entire new compact.
Overall I would buy this product again as it's a good colour for me and very handy if you're in a rush or out and about, even though I have to use other products with it to get the look I want.
The morning before a night out, which I had been looking forward to for so long I woke up with a spot the size of mount Everest on the end of my nose. I headed straight to my make-up to try to find something that would cover the monstrosity.
As foundation or consealer is something I rarely wear my old faithful make-up bag failed to help on this occasion, so I grabbed my bag and headed for the local body shop to find something suitable.
When I got there the shop assistant pointed out this flawless skin protecting foundation, and assured me it would work wonders for my spot that was growing really red by the minute.
THE BODY SHOP HISTORY
The body shop has become very famous for the policies they adopt, as it is a company that is environmentally friendly, no products are tested on animals and they also support many community trade programes across the world.
This company was founded by Anita Roddick, in 1976 when she opened her first Body Shop in Brighton. It only took a few years for her to go on and open Body Shop stores worldwide making it as successful as it is today.
Sadly Anita Roddick passed away o few years ago, but her memory and hard work are still visible within the body shop company.
This flawless skin protecting foundation is currently a new edition to the body shop cosmetics range, and is known as a cream to powder foundation. That gives your skin a stunning natural finish, with an easy but perfect coverage.
It is designed so it can be worn on all skin types, and will achieve a medium to full coverage. Not only will it brighten up your skin, but as it is made with thousands of little foundation particles it will help fill in those fine lines we all seem to suffer from and ensure you get a nice even skin tone.
With added UV protection this is the perfect foundation to cover any spots or blemishes, as it actually covers without you looking like you have used a trawl to apply it.
This product comes complete with a soft make-up sponge, to apply the foundation perfectly. The sponge is by far one of the best I have used in a long time as it collects the product, but will not soak it in to the sponge and therefore prevent you from wasting any product.
It is recommended that you cleanse and tone your skin before applying the cream foundation, this is to ensure you have no build up of other products in your pores. Once you have cleared your skin apply with the application sponge to get the best possible results.
If you have problems like spots of blemishes you may need two coats of this foundation, to ensure they are all covered perfectly.
Only apply the second coat as the first has dried to the powder form, if you apply the second coat too quickly you will run the chance of pulling off your first coat with the sponge.
Once you are happy with the look you have achieved, then you can continue applying your mascara, eye shadow and lip gloss to complete the look.
The packaging is very luxurious indeed, the product itself comes in a silver mirrored compact that is split into two sections when it is opened.
One section is for the make-up sponge and the other is for cream foundation, the foundation is protected by a clear plastic cover which can be removed after you buy it, but I personally keep this to protect the cream from drying out, as I don't uses it all that often.
Inside the compact is a full length mirror, so application can be done at any time.
These limited edition products come in six different shades, so you will almost certainly get a shade that will blend perfectly with your skin.
You can get this at any Body Shop store for 24.00, which is very expensive but it is worth the money as you get a great product and the compact itself is stunning. You can also buy refills for the compact so replacing the make-up next time will be a lot cheaper.
The Body Shop online www.thebodyshop.co.uk is currently selling this for 19.00 a unit, but this is on the condition that you also purchase the flawless consealer pen at the same time.

I have found this by far one of the best foundations I have tried in the past, it was very easy and quick to apply which is a really good selling point for me as I can be very lazy when I am in a rush.
The way it goes on to the skin as a cream and then dries into a velvet to touch powder, is amazing as it leaves the skin with a smooth and radiant natural glow, that looks like you have had your make-up done professionally.
This is very expensive for what you get, but I think the price reflects the stunning compact the product comes in, I feel better that is was a one off price as the refills are a lot cheaper to buy.
Overall I was very happy with my buy, it really did the job and covered the huge spot that had taken residence on my nose.
After applying this it stayed on until I removed it with make-up remover, which was great as many foundations wear off within hours.
I would recommend this to anyone who has to cover bad spots or blemishes.
